Moving Star provides a great professional services. I was very lucky to choose this company for my moving. They were not only showed up on time, very polite and also careful with my belongings ! Their price is very reasonable compare to other companies! I highly recommend Moving Star and they deserve 5 stars!!

I was very happy with my Moving Star experience. I was able to receive same day loading help for my long distance move. The movers showed up on time and were very friendly and professional. They brought all of their own equipment. It was clear they knew what they were doing. They were very hard workers and were careful with my belongings. I recommend Moving Star!

The moving experience from the very beginning was a mess starting at the reservations date. I booked this moving arrangement with moving star well in advance, to ensure that come moving day, the movers were coming and it was confirmed. A day prior to moving date, and I was surprised the moving company didn’t send a message to say, hi we plan on seeing you tmro for the move scheduled on .. so and so.. but I heard nothing, so I called myself, and they lost my information and said they were planning to call me?? What?when were you going to call, on moving day? I couldn’t believe the lack of organization and attention to detail this company is already showing me and we haven’t started to move yet. Olivia, the coordinator of the move, eventually became so frustrated she hung up on me and she blocked her number from me!! Can you believe this service, because of their mistakes, she gets upset because she doesn’t know how to manage the business properly she makes it worse for me by blocking me. Well it’s the day before I’m moving and impossible to find another moving company, and Olivia knows this and she doesn’t care, she blocks me. I have to phone her back on a different phone number to talk to her again, and she agrees to save my appointment for me.. this is such a terrible start to a business relationship, but I have no choice, I must move and I go ahead with moving star, not by choice. The move time was changed by them and I agreed to change it, to be fair on the 2nd moving day, I too had to change appointment time and they agreed to change it, to their credit. But that’s the end of good credits for them. As, 2 movers came in and their was one mover who spoke better English, he was insufferable. Always asking the same questions, do we take this, do we take that.. I had already said what needed to go and where but this mover waisted too much time looking around counting all of the stuff he needed to take and giving me, frustration looks , breathing hard and saying things like “ this is too much stuff” what? You are movers, so move and stop wasting my time and yours, I thought to myself. Then to make matters worse, this mover at end of day, insists on telling me how much I owe him and tells me how much tip he wants! Outrageous! He was a terrible time waister , made my move more stressful and now he’s going to tel me how much he wants!?? I don’t think so, I don’t know where these individuals learned their trade, but it doesn’t work that way here! And it never will! A tip is only a gesture, it’s not automatically given. It’s based on your performance and is determined by the person paying, not by your barking demand. It’s repeated the same poor work ethic on day 2 and again was so rude and out of line with his money demands that I raised my voice to him as we began to have a shouting match. I said NO, you’re not getting anymore then I just gave you. We are done here. I was very exhausted by the move and with moving star. It was a moving nightmare, no one was a star. I tried to explain my experience to Olivia and much like she handled the reservation call the day before I moved, she ultimately is limited in her business skill set to engender try to execute a meaningful resolution that she responded in a, not surprisingly and predictable manner. That she understood my concern but excused all of the negativity I experienced with a “ but everybody acts differently in these kind of things” Yes Olivia, you are right, there’s right and there’s the wrong way, the wrong way would be to use Moving Star for your moving needs, they will leave you stranded if worse comes to worse, the right way, is to run far away from this company and find another.. you’ll be thankful you did. Nearly $1700 later and I’m missing a box and some of my fragile items broken as well. They are not bonded, the movers. I noticed after the job was complete I could see a lot of property still on the truck, I asked what is that, who’s stuff is that? They acted like they didn’t know what I was talking about. We just completed our third move with Moving Star in four years! And we've loved it each time! Every subsequent move as been bigger and more complex--ending with today where we needed 3 people from 9-4 to complete the move. They are very hard working, careful with our stuff, and moved our stuff with consideration. They also have a lot of supplies they can bring (pads, mats, dollies, boxes, etc.) that make it a lot easier to move. I will admit my husband speaks Chinese so it makes it a bit easier to communicate. They are very patient and moved stuff around for us multiple times including moving a mattress to one room...then back to another...and then back to the original when we changed our mind again haha. They did it with a smile and a laugh! Highly recommend using these movers!

Would not recommend. My tv was broken and did not rectify the issue as well as some other items that had minor damage. Also ordered 2 movers. One came on late and the other left the job. It was one person moving my items with the help of me.

Everything was terrible. Jay didn't communicate. His guys didn't wrap my furniture after I asked them too. I have thousands of dollars worth of damaged furniture. When I texted images to Jay he blocked me. This company shouldn't be in business.

Great people and actually came earlier at 7:30am prepared and ready to work. I am in no way affiliated. I found them on yelp and checked with other moving companies who were charging way more for a 1 mile move. They took breaks of course but stayed consistent and finished a 3 bedroom house in 4 hours. Granted it was all packed beforehand but shows how quick and respectful these guys were. Thank you Olivia for the constant communication and to the 3 guys who came through. I will definitely be doing business with them again in the future. I appreciate the care you guys displayed for my things and even wrapping and taking apart some of our furniture. Highly recommend and hope to see you guys grow more!!

CON ARTISTS!! DO NOT WORK WITH THEM WORST SERVICE EVERRRRR! I WISH I COULD GIVE ZERO STARS!! I hired this company to help me pack for my huge cross country move. I had all the necessary materials. I simply needed help packing, which Jing ensured was no problem. Being a single woman, orchestrating this giant move alone, while working long hours & with all the complications of covid...I thought that their services were my saving grace in an extremely stressful & tumultuous situation...I was absolutely wrong. The "employees" that showed up were extremely unprofessional & illegitimate (to say the least). They barely spoke English, which would have no relevance to me except for the fact that the nature of the job requires a level of communication which was blatantly impossible. More importantly, I was required to pay them for a minimum of 3 hours...I had absolutely no problem with that, since I honestly expected them to be there for the entire day. I had lived in SF for nearly a decade & I expected these "professional" movers to carefully and professionally pack my entire life and assist me in an overwhelming circumstance. However, they did exactly the opposite. They carelessly threw my fragile belongings into boxes. They didn't properly wrap anything. They didn't label anything. Due to the language barrier, I couldn't properly dictate my wishes or expectations. They didn't fill the boxes so they crushed down when stacked. They carelessly misused my packing materials as recklessly as they handled my belongings. After an hour and a half, they were already itching to leave. I tried to delegate and explain why the job was not even close to complete (not to mention that, if I am required to pay them for a minimum of 3 hours, there shouldn't be any intention of leaving before that), but they would just carelessly throw some more of my belongings in a random giant box & tape it shut. I was already under so much pressure over this life-altering move. I turned to this company for help & was more than happy to pay for the much needed assistance. All they did was cause me MORE STRESS & ANXIETY. I had to open & repack every single thing that they packed, losing even more time...I would have absolutely been better to just do it by myself in the first place. Not only because there was a language barrier, but because Jing SEEMED professional in our correspondence through the booking process...I paid the men & sent them on their way, assuming that Jing & the company would do right by their customer....WRONG. I was so relieved to have them out of my house & their careless hands off my belongings, as I redid all the work I'd paid for, that was done offensively poorly. I expected that Jing & the company would be responsive & understanding of their "staff's" embarrassingly tragic performance (not to mention during the most stressful time in my life)...WRONG. I contacted Jing before writing this review, entirely expecting it to be rectified. I'm a restaurant manager, so I absolutely know how valuable it is to be contacted directly by a client, as opposed to having a negative review posted...I also know how disappointed I would be to have a dissatisfied client. Apparently this company does not give AF about their clients, since I was swiftly dismissed...I could not imagine allowing a client to feel the way that this company made me feel. The only response I received was that Jing will follow up with these "staff members" & make improvements...this means NOTHING to me since this is a once in a lifetime move for me and even if it weren't, I'd rather walk everything I own across the country than ever work with these unprofessional con artists ever again. Anyone could round up 2 random people to recklessly throw things in boxes...do yourself a favor and just do that instead of hiring these clowns to steal your money & treat your LIFE like trash.

TLDR: overall a decent experience, though I probably wouldn't use again. Pros: - a competitive rate, we got $150/hr for three movers and a huge truck +$75 flat fee - had availability "last minute" (we scheduled several days before the move) - aimed to and did show up early (originally scheduled time 6pm, arrived by 5pm) - movers were quick (pretty large 2bd move in 5 hours) and able to navigate variety of tasks (packed items, moved some large trash structures, even moved an old motorcycle down one flight of stairs) Cons: - communication was a bit suspect, I got a text about the early arrival minutes before the movers called me to say they were outside - as others mentioned, the movers pressure for a larger tip (I had already given 10%, which is generally recommended as well as recommended by the company) - they handle plants _very_ poorly. some of my plants lost more than half of their foliage - they unloaded items indiscriminately, even though we labelled which boxes went to which rooms and I described the system to them If you need a mover and Moving Star is available, I would use them, but I wouldn't go out of my way to seek them out

1 bedroom apartment move 35 miles away. 6.5 hours at $170 per hour for three movers $50 travel fee 15% tip (non-negotiable) $1330 total Overall they were good people and they worked hard. I was expecting young guys, but they were all in their 50's. The move was scheduled at 2pm, but they texted and indicated they'd arrive at 3pm. I asked for a third man because I was thinking it'd go faster. They definitely got tired as the day went on. I felt bad cause they were not young guys. They didn't speak English, but we communicated well. They argued a lot, but I guess that's how they work through things. I was expecting to pay about $1000. My move into my apartment costed $800. I had everything packed for their arrival, so all they had to do was move boxes and furniture. I probably had 30 boxes. A large couch, king bed, coffee table, a couple bookcases, and a small dresser. I texted Olivia (Jing?) and she took care of coordinating. She was responsive and nice. Overall it was a fine move. Wasn't expecting to pay as much as I did, and I expected a bit more vigor from the crew, but it all worked out. Because of the language barrier you need to really get involved and make sure they know exactly what you want. Otherwise they'll just toss things around. I did this with my ultra thin OLED TV and they did a great job handling with care.

UPDATE: This is in response to Jing/Olivia's comment to my review. She is a complete liar as can be seen in her ridiculous responses to other people's negative reviews as well. All of her statements are absolutely false and would take way too much time to address. However, most importantly - We NEVER received compensation for the damage to our TV. However, her response just adds evidence to my case. See you in small claims court Olivia! Also as one of another recent reviewers stated - the movers wouldn't accept my tip and demanded more money. Another example of how unethical this company is. - - - STAY AWAY from this company. If I could give this moved a negative 10, I'd do so. This is most definitely the WORST mover we've ever had in the 20 years of living in San Francisco. First, let me disclose that Olivia told us the move for our apartment would be approximately $400 for a one bedroom. We ended up paying over $1100. The movers arrived on time at 08:30am and began pretty quickly. However, things went downhill quickly. A few hours went by and barely anything was moved out of my apartment. We became concerned as the move was only supposed to go from 08:30am to 01:00pm. The next thing you know, it was 2 and then 3. They definitely were not moving at a pace you would expect professional movers to go at. At about 1 pm, when the move was supposed to be over, Olivia called my boyfriend and said it was "partly his fault" that the move was taking longer than expected. Last time I checked we don't run a professional moving business, she does. Not sure how this could be our fault. As the day went on, the movers told me they didn't have enough materials to pack our personal belongings. This meant that our belongings were packed carelessly. They even charged mfor boxes after stating that all packing materials were included. We arrived at our new place around 4pm and it took approximately an hour to unload the truck. Most of the items were in good shape to what we could see, but clearly it was a long day and there was no way we could evaluate every single piece that they moved over. A couple of days later, Comcast shows up at our condo to set up everything and we discover that our $1500 TV was destroyed as the entire left screen was cracked. Thus, My boyfriend sent a text to Olivia alerting her that the set was broken requesting that her company reimburse us for the damage. At first, she said it was our fault and she didn't know what happened between the time my set was moved and the time Comcast arrived (2 days later). Obviously, we wouldn't realize the damage to my TV until we turned it on. Why would we turn on my TV if we didn't have cable set up yet? Finally, she admitted fault by saying people make mistakes (as in her movers) and offered $400. Olivia came up with as many excuses as possible. She even referred to herself as "just a little girl" trying to make us feel bad for her. I'm confused, is this company employing children? If she's just a little girl maybe she shouldn't be running a business? Should I be reporting this company to the labor board? At this point, we feel we have to take this to the next level. Unfortunately, $400 won't even put a dent in purchasing a new TV. That said, we are in the process of filing a small claims court. Obviously, it is reasonable to think that a tv that was reported broken within 2 days of a move would result in compensation from the movers negligence. People don't just break their own TVs in their own houses. It's more likely that it happened in the move. we have witnesses that saw the TV in perfect shape before the move. That's all the evidence that will be needed in small claims. Unfortunately, this was only the beginning of the nightmare with this company. Nothing was packed with any organization or with any care. They even took food from my refrigerator and put in a box of cleaning supplies and next to a dirty toilet bowl cleaner. They broke countless other items due to carelessness. This can be seen in the pictures. Bottom line - stay away from this company. They clearly aren't ethical and do not know what they are doing.

Start off by saying they DEMANDED a bigger tip! They started off by refusing to try to back up my driveway attempting to leave. After that it was relatively smooth other then they are pretty rude one of them used bathroom and pee'd on the floor and later at my new house dropped a #2 and flooded the bathroom ‍ The move went 4 hrs longer then it should've because they had to walk up and down the driveway by the end they were dumping our stuff out of the wardrobe boxes they let you use. They didn't plug the bed or couches in they just demanded payment and a bigger tip. I will not recommend or ever use them again.

I'm very happy with how Moving Star helped us move our appliances and furnitures to our new home. They are very communicative, friendly, and courteous. They were on time and kept us in the loop of what's going on. Both of the guys the company sent us were quick and always smiling. They took great care of our belongings like their own. They were very careful in wrapping and packing fragile furnitures. I was so happy that they were able to disassemble and reassemble everything, especially my precious Scrapbox. If you communicate clearly with them, everything will flow smoothly. I'm so happy I found them on Yelp. I mean, I won't move again anytime soon, but I will highly recommend you contact them for all your moving needs.

Unfortunately, my moving experience with Moving Star was painful. I called them up, and they returned my call promptly. I detailed that I have 1) an upright piano-- I mentioned this emphatically knowing how difficult moving pianos is-- 2) several pieces of furniture, including one heavy dresser, and 3) a number of boxes that needed moving. I told them I had contacted them because I wanted a mover that could move my piano as well as the rest of my possessions -- a one-stop-shop. In fact, I probably would have not hired a mover if not for the piano. I was told this would be no problem, and they quoted me an hourly rate for three people, since moving a piano is cumbersome. A team of two people arrived on the day of my move, and said "we didn't know you had a piano" After a call with the owner, who was very rude and insistent that I was in the wrong, I decided to go ahead with the move of my possessions, sans piano, since I had some flexibility, but had already made preparations to be moved out of my room. Throughout the move I messaged back and forth with the owner. She claimed to have misquoted me, and said that if she sent a third person out it would be substantially more expensive. I asked for a discount on the current move in-progress, since I'll effectively be paying for two moves now that I need to go back for the piano, and they had messed up with this move. She accused me of attempting to rip the company off. After even more back and forth, in the end, she offered me a $10 discount on the whole thing, which, frankly, felt like slap in the face. The two men who moved my things were very pleasant, quick, and fairly professional. I do not wish my experience with the owner on anyone, however. And I still need to move my piano.

The two man that came were pretty nice. We did pack everything really well already, but somehow we still took 4hrs to move an one bedroom apartment, 10miles away. My fiancé and I help them move them to speed up the process too. They charged $120/hr with a 3hr minimum, $50 gas money, and then tip is $10-$15 per hr per person. I only gave them 3 stars because during this time of COVID, one of the dude was coughing. I'm pretty sure it was a smokers cough; however still gave me anxiety. They were both masked at all time. At the end, the same person ask me for more tip; but I already have them all my cash. It put me in an awkward position.

The movers were experienced and capable, but they were late for 3 hours, yet still insisted for a 15% total tip as if it was not their fault to be late. I will avoid this company for future moves.

Read the bad reviews! Complaints are all consistent - they overcharge, scheduler was rude and they ask for larger tips! After the initial quote for the minimum 3 hour time requirement, they contacted me after the job was booked and said they would have to charge an additional hour due to the move going to the next town. It was a 6 mile move! NOTE - time starts when they leave the "office" not when they show up at your door. I had a very light move, 4 small pieces of furniture and 12 boxes. This was understood when I booked them. When the 2 men showed up they were confused and asked where the rest was. They followed me to the storage facility and I think got lost on purpose in order to take up more time. The entire process from when they showed up at my door to when they were pulling away was less than an hour! You pay for their commute time. Plus the additional over charged hour. The only reason I scheduled them was the 3 hour rate was reasonable and they could come on the day/time I needed. I tipped them in cash and the scheduler texted and asked if I wanted to add a tip to the bill. I told her I tipped them in cash and she said - was that for both because it wasn't very much. It was a healthy tip for the hour they worked - I was not going to tip them for their drive time. Round trip it was still in the 3 hour window. I suggested she split the extra hour with them. Would not recommend!

Great the first time, horrible the second... This is the second time I've used their service and this time was absolutely horrible. The dispatcher was very responsive and the movers showed up on time but the job they did was horrible, especially since I've seen them do a lot better. They damaged some of my property, scraped walls and when they used the restrooms (at the old and new place) they left toilets seats up and left urine on one of the toilets (ew!). I was charged for 3.5 hours of service and the job was done in 3 hours and 10 mins and the movers would not leave until they were tipped for 4 full hours of work. I gave the money because I know I was being charged as they stood there doing nothing. When I expressed my dissatisfaction with the service, I only received a "sorry for the inconvenience". I was hoping to get more as a returning customer but... My recommendation is don't use them at all or no more than once!

They moved pretty quick and the movers did take some breaks while doing so. But that's fine. Ultimately, I moved to a 3rd floor of a walk up and the pricing was straight forward. They were also on time.

I would give these guys 0 stars if I could. Stay away from hiring these crooks if you value your belongings. I would NOT recommend them at all. They were extremely rude to us and tried haggling us to get tips for an additional hour that they did not work. A few days later we noticed that we were missing a couple of items and figured out that the movers had a actually keept some of our belongings in their trucks while we were negotiating tips and left without unloading. This, in my opinion, is theft and very unprofessional. In addition, we also noticed a couple of dings and scratches on our furnitures that were previously not there. Save your money and hire professional movers that are actually insured and licensed.

I wish I could give 3.5 stars. The movers completed the job with little to no damage to anything, however I think they could have completed the move in less time. They quoted me for 2-3 hours for moving 1 bedroom worth of items. The move ended up taking 3.5 hours, although it was actually more like 3 hours and 10 minutes, as they started at 9:15 and ended at 12:25. There were also several times I saw them working slowly at my house. In the end, when I tipped them $40, after being charged $85 more than I was quoted, they did not seem happy with the amount that I tipped them or thankful. Overall, I was quoted about $300 and paid $386 plus $40 tip. It would be 5 stars if they moved a little quicker and were more pleasant.

Prepacked my condo to move to a storage unit, they got here at a timely manner then moved everything up and down the terrible stairs . They moved at their own pace (I wouldn't call it slow but it was fine) got it done in 2 hours. They ended up taking alot of random smoke breaks when they wanted. (Added more time to the hourly rate) They packed and wrapped everything perfectly and safley from the condo - truck - storage unit couldn't have asked for a better Tetris player. When it was all said and done the time was 5 1/2 hours of work , I have no problem paying the hourly and labor especially with all the work they did, but when I payed my dues plus tip I said goodbye, one of the workers said to me "not enough tip" . I find this very rude and unprofessional would give higher rating if thia did not happen.

Olivia and her team did an excellent Job. I planned ahead and had parking space in front of the house ready to go. The 24 foot truck fit perfectly and did the job. They came on time actually 15 minutes early. Worked fast. Two men Took 3.5 hours to move a two bedroom house. We packed what I can and did not wastes a lot of time with the little junk. If you don't know better you can spend hours wasting their time and YOUR money. The movers mainly wrap the furniture and hauled it to the truck. Those two guys were Incredible!!! They also help moved a bunch of new furniture in the garage to the 2nd and 3rd floor at the new house. I was glad to give them the tip!! I would definitely use them again without hesitation

Great packers and movers. Especially my limited edition piano. They took great care in wrapping and moving it. As well, they took the time to pack all my delicate figurines and porcelain. I highly recommend them. They know exactly how to pack and since I had to move quick they were great. .Olivia was quick to respond and Justin and the rest of the team was great

I had to look for movers within a week and 680 movers were quick to respond. Their rates were much better than the majority of the movers I requested a quote from and their response time was great. Pros: 1. They were very quick to respond 2. Easy communication via texts 3. The movers arrived exactly the time they said they will 4. They were very meticulous in packing furniture and made sure to wrap up everything so that they don't get scratched. 5. They got a huge moving truck and all the essentials required. Somethings I felt they could improve on: 1. I was moving my 1bhk only a short distance (around 1.5 miles away) but the entire move took about 4.5 hours. At times I felt that they were slow and I had to help out a little. Overall, I'd still recommend them as they did do a great job.

Olivia from Moving Star responded to my request for a quote within a couple hours and made it very easy to communicate over phone and text. She was professional, knowledgeable, and helpful in making the best plan for my move. She was able to accommodate my request to schedule my move less than just one week later! And the rate was the best around. They packed my entire apartment up for me and moved everything to my new place with no hidden extra fees, unlike a lot of the other moving companies in SF. The 2 men who did the move itself were great - very efficient and seemed to really know what they were doing when prepping and moving my belongings. And they arrived right on time. Would definitely use Moving Star again next time I have to move, and I have already recommended it to friends.

Moving is so reliable. I am completely satisfied with their service. I moved from SF to Pittsburg ca. Olivia is very responsive. The two gentlemen who helped me move are proactive and professional. Moved efficiently. No mistakes that I can see. Good service. Costed more than I thought. Don't speak English well but the coordinator of the move does. They will pressure you to go higher and higher on the tip. I think I ended up tipping 25+ percent on the move, which is a lot, but I felt bad for them because they didn't speak English well and they worked their butts off. All in all, I was happy with the service.

Moving Star Moving Company Moved me yesterday. Their guys arrived on time with a big clean truck and lots of boxes just in case to keep the smaller boxes contained while In transport. All of my things were carefully wrapped and carefully packed. And unpacked. Olivia was my main contact before the move and she was great , very helpful and quick to respond. The move was from a second story. Across the bay out to the Fairfax hills and up a rather steep driveway , not a problem. After they left I noticed that the drawers oin the bottom of my Armoire were opening upside down. After a brief couple of texts with Olivia. They arranged to come out first thing today. Sure enough. They came out, Olivia came too,to see firsthand what happened. They fixed the problem. Quickly and I could not be happier.Their rates were very reasonable and I would definitely recommend them to friends/family. Thanks So very much Olivia and Moving Star. You guys are Stars.

I have underestimated the size of my pieces of furniture until the Moving Star team were at my place. It should have been at least 3-4 people team had I realized how big and heavy my furniture are. However, as Junyan and his partner showed up at my place, they did a very thorough job to help me move all of my furniture to my new place. I've asked multiple times if they need additional movers and ready to call Olivia to ask for additional help, however they kept their promise and worked with just the two of them. Most reliable movers, I highly recommended. The fee was reasonable, the team is very respectable to our furniture and when speaking to us. All of our furniture was treated with care, and respect, and was all carefully wrapped with cloths and shrink wrapped. They went above and beyond to cover each corner with cardboard so it won't scratch. Very pleased with the move, I will for sure ask for them the next time. Oh, Venmo is the way to go. I like that option so very much. Olivia is very easy to work with and responsive to all of my inquiries/text/emails, even on Superbowl weekend! A BIG THANKS to the team!

They did a good job. Quick in moving boxes and furniture. Efficient in packing up small packets into big cartons. Also helped us move the plants and clingwrap the furniture/mattress. Overall great for moving.

Honestly, these guys were the BEST! We moved from San Francisco to Marin and never had I have moving be so easy, they did everything! We also had this really annoying queen bed frame that they took down no problem AND put up for us in our new place without even asking. We are so grateful we chose to go with them! From reaching out to movers, Olivia got back to us within about a minute I think, and everything was smooth sailing from there. Can not recommend enough!!!

They did a great job for our needs. It was super to easy to schedule and everyone was very friendly. Their truck isn't huge, so even for our relatively small house, we had to do 2 trips (although the 2nd trip was pretty much just potted plants from our yard). They might not be the best choice for a large household with tons of stuff, but for a basic 2-3 BR household they did great. They worked super hard and had excellent attention to detail.

The guys were very hard working and efficient. The way they put the boxes together with plastic wrap and use the dolly carts, they emptied our one br apartment of the things we had packed up in 90 minutes, in 90 deg heat. We only had a few big things like a bed and dresser, a tv and a desk, but the dresser was pretty big and unwieldy and they got it up a a twisty narrow staircase with the utmost of care. I'm glad that we hired them.

Jack and Moving Star helped me move a short distance (15 blocks) to a new apartment. He was extremely professional and efficient with his time and met all of my timing needs. I am extremely pleased with his service and the cost.

Had a 2 bedroom apartment to move and booked the move within a week. Although I was a bit taken aback by this form of communication for a company, communication via text message was great, and they were always prompt to respond, within seconds or a couple minutes. The move itself went very smoothly. I had boxed up everything I could beforehand and had pretty much cleared each room except for furniture. The two guys who moved us were very polite, professional, and wasted no time getting started. Our move was somewhat unique in that the truck wasn't required. We literally moved across a small residential street from one apartment to another in the same complex. Fortunately, they brought all the necessary dollies, carts, etc. to ease the burden of the long carry. They wrapped all our furniture before being moved and we didn't find one scratch afterwards. We were allowed to leave some clothing in drawers, which did make the furniture slightly heavier, but greatly reduced the number of boxes we had to use. The movers tackled the heavy furniture like pros and got it moved across the street very quickly. We have a toddler and couldn't box up all of her bulky toys. I was impressed to see them carefully put all of the loose toys/contraptions in wardrobe boxes for efficiency in getting them to our new place. My original plan was to move those myself, but they got to them before I could, so I just started carting food and other things I could manage myself. At the end of the move, I was about $40 short (for part of the tip) due to the ATM only allowing me to withdraw another $300 the morning of the move (curse you Wells Fargo for your insanely low daily withdrawal limits...). They let me run down the street to a bank branch to grab some more cash while they waited and had lunch. I was grateful for them allowing me to do this without a hassle. We don't keep much cash on hand and didn't anticipate the ATM limit beforehand. After coming back with the remaining cash a few minutes later, they left, but about 15m thereafter, I realized they still had our spare keys... I texted Olivia (whom I had been in contact with from the start), and she had them bring the keys back. I was originally asking to meet up with them someplace nearby in the next day or two, but was surprised when she said they were on their way back. This was our first time hiring movers. We normally just bribe family with food and drink, but they're all on the east coast now. This was some of the best money ever spent. We'd highly recommend Moving Star! My only very minor gripe would be not accepting a card or check as payment. You can use your phone nowadays to accept payments, swipe a card, deposit a check, etc. From someone who likes to leave a paper trail, it would be nice to have those options, even if the card reader would only take debit (to avoid the 3-7% credit card transaction fees). Or, just pass the fees on to the customer if they choose to use credit. I would have paid that to avoid running to the bank after being short on cash. But again, the above is just a minor complaint. Just make sure you have enough cash on hand to cover a good tip. 5 stars overall!

Choosing a mover feels so dicey, everyone has a few bad stories posted & you don't know if that will end up being you. Olivia the scheduler was very kind, prompt & clear. We spoke mostly via text. The crew arrived right on time, 8 am on a Sunday! They worked efficiently & weren't too fast or too slow. Our 1br move from Berkeley to Oakland was 7 hours (we had grown out of that 1br and had a lot of stuff :). Their rate was much better than their competitors. The crew was Chinese and spoke very little English, but they were friendly and taught me the name of one of my plants in Chinese . All of our items were wrapped and moved professionally & thoughtfully, and not a single item was lost or broken. Amazing! Would definitely recommend & use again. Thank you!

I will try to be fair in this review. The move itself: they did a good job and were super fast. However... they were half an hour late (with no notice - i had to call and text many times and did not get a call back). this after confirming the day before AND the morning of. Also...beware...the guy asked for MORE tip! We were generous with our tip, even though they were 30 minutes late. So unprofessional.

First time hiring movers and I would absolutely go to Moving Star again. There was a language barrier, however, we made it work. They are hard working men and quickly got the job done. 10/10.

That is shameful that the company has tried to say I was a previous employee on some kind of revenge. Own up to your practices. Everything in my previous review is true, comports with what other customers have experienced, and Moving Star knows it. I'm a 5'1" 105 lb asian girl....and definitely have never worked on your moving crew. Shameful that you would lie.... Rather than making up bogus stories when customers aren't satisfied, Moving Star should aim to improve its business practices. ZERO STARS If you hire them, expect that they will demand a 45% tip out of you and won't leave until you tip a hefty amount. It was actually quite scary.

I need movers and it was a last minute job. I went to yelp and found a moving company and it said to request a quote from them and suggested some other moving companies. I'm so glad yelp suggested others because that's how I found moving star. Olivia got back to me faster then any other company and was so accommodating. She was able to provide movers for me with three days notice. The movers that came were excellent. They arrived EARLY! so professional and careful. They wrapped everything including our art work. Another great thing about moving star is they don't nickel and dime you! They had tape and shrink wrap along with blankets to make sure all of our was protected. I am so impressed with moving star I will definitely recommend and use them again!

we moved a few days ago, and everything well very smoothly. nothing was lost or damaged.The two guys came on time as scheduled, they were very friendly, very professional, i've seen some movers move faster but these guys were not slow. I was very happy that they took really good care of my huge TV and the clothes i didnt want to fold. it was $80 an hour, for 2.5 hours. Everything considered i was happy with the service andi would recommend it.

Showed up ten minutes early and hustled though the move! Great service, placed furniture exactly where it belonged and were very accommodating when I changed my mind. The team was very honest and earned a nice tip, they even showed me that the truck was completely emptied. It was a pleasant experience during an inherently stressful time. I highly recommend moving star.

Facts: -Moved from a studio/in-law to a single bedroom (Oakland to San Jose) -Movers were on-time (a few minutes early), friendly, efficient, prepared, and accommodating. -My new place had carpeted flooring, they came prepared with roller rugs to make sure they didn't step with shoes on the carpet. -Payment for services was easy with Venmo. -The final payment wasn't drastically different from initial quote (I appreciated the honesty). -3.5hrs of them working carefully and consistently to move my already packed/taped boxes, a love seat, a bed, and a few other pieces of furniture (that were wrapped carefully and moved without any damage), including the one hour drive to San Jose. - I tipped the movers well in cash-they did a fantastic job getting the work done fast and keeping the total cost within the quoted price. -Customer service was incredible, Olivia was available via text in a timely manner for any questions I had from the beginning to the end of the entire process.

I'm going to graduate student, there are so many things to deal with. I feel very upset to move them! The moving star helped me a great deal .
