Very nice staff. Welcomed us and our dog very friendly. The hotel has everything you need but it is based on simplicity. So if you need any extras you need to ask for it. We had a corner room that was very spacious. The location is a 40 minute walk from downtown in a business district. Its clean and safe. You got the water right in front of you. We will definitely be back.

We had a wonderful stay at the Moxy Amsterdam Houthavens! The hotel is modern, stylish, and surprisingly peaceful—perfect if you want a quiet escape from the busier parts of the city. It’s about a 10-minute Uber or cab ride to the city center, or you can take a quick and easy bus ride. While it’s a little removed from the main attractions, the calm atmosphere and waterfront views more than make up for it. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with a separate living area, small kitchen with fridge, a cozy bedroom, and a large bathroom. The view overlooking the water and transport ships was beautiful, especially at sunrise and sunset. Everything felt clean, new, and thoughtfully designed. If you don’t mind the short commute into the heart of Amsterdam, this is an excellent choice, quiet, comfortable, and full of charm. We’d definitely stay again!

I stayed at the hotel for 5 days. On the first day, check-in was honestly horrible. There were two ladies at the front desk who never smiled, didn’t engage in conversation, and gave short, unhelpful answers to our questions. On top of that, we received different answers from three different staff members about our requests and needs. It was such a terrible start that we almost left the hotel. On the second day, we met Patricia. What an incredible woman! She was warm, understanding, and truly helpful with our requests. She gave us a real Marriott guest experience. Please do not lose her — she is a gem. I would strongly recommend the other ladies learn how to smile first, and then what the Marriott standards are supposed to be. Patricia, thank you so many times over for helping us have such a wonderful stay. The 5 stars are only and only for you. Otherwise, this hotel would have been a 1-star experience.

Nice hotel, a bit from the centre but easily accessible from central station on the number 48 bus, approx 10 minutes from the station by bus. ||Hotel is attached to the moxy hotel and shares breakfast and spa facilities.||Room was apartment style with a lovely living space and a corner window, the bedroom also had a full length window.||Large confortable bed and slept well with no external noise disruptions.||Pool is a good size for a city hotel, spa facilities were clean and available 7am-10pm||All hotel employees were incredibly helpful and happy to assist with any questions||Breakfast basic but all food was nice||Would recommend and would stay again

We stayed at the Moxy Hotel Amsterdam from July 23rd to 30th and overall had a fantastic experience. I'd happily give it 5 stars, but I’ve marked it down slightly due to the lack of a fridge in the room — which is essential for someone like me who needs to keep snacks or certain items cool. We originally booked a standard room, which we’ve done at other hotels without issue even though my partner uses a wheelchair. On arrival, the staff were really accommodating and moved us to an accessible room the next day, which was lovely and much more suitable. The hotel itself is fun and vibrant — there’s a spa, gym, pool table, arcade games in the lobby, and even free popcorn! It has a great vibe and is ideal for both couples and families. Staff were generally brilliant and very helpful throughout our stay. However, on one occasion when our room card stopped working, all of the front desk staff were being told off (quite publicly) by a manager for not engaging with guests — ironic, since the telling-off was causing them to ignore us. Thankfully, one staff member broke away to help us anyway, though it earned her a dirty look from the manager. That was the only disappointing moment in an otherwise excellent stay. Would I recommend it? Absolutely. We’re already planning to return next year and bring more family with us — they’d love it.

It was a brilliant stay! There for business. Staff was great, scenery was great, the amenities are great. Free laundry, gym was great, coffee machine and breakfast. Loved Romi, he was very helpful and welcoming. Will definitely come back again!

Great surroundings at the harbor, loveliest views morning and night. A bit away from the center but that's kind of great. The amenities, gym, restaurant bar til 2a are fantastic. Rooms are a bit dated, could use a coat of paint. And the cleaning staff doesn't fully clean the entire time - which is disappointing for a Marriott property especially as a Gold member. But all in all a nice stay.

One-Star Review: Disappointing Stay at Moxy. I had high hopes for my stay at Moxy by paying usd250+ per night, but it turned out to be a frustrating. uncomfortable motel6 experience that I wouldn’t wish on anyone. From the moment I arrived, the issues piled up, making this one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had. First, the location was a major letdown. The hotel is tucked away in a noisy, inconvenient area far from public transport and attractions, making it a hassle to get anywhere. After a long day of travel, this was the last thing I needed. The problems continued in the room. On my first bathing, I stepped into the shower, got completely wet, and realized there was no shower gel provided. I had to wait for an hour before housekeeping brought some—unacceptable for a basic amenity. To make matters worse, the hair dryer didn’t work, leaving me to air-dry my hair i the chill room. There wasn’t even a proper cup for tooth brushing, just a flimsy paper one that felt like it would break. And, shockingly, there was no safe in the room to secure valuables, which is a standard feature I expect from any decent hotel. The worst part came late at night. Exhausted from a full day of travel, I found a note in my room at 11 PM demanding I go to the reception to “fix a payment issue.” Dragging myself downstairs, I spent 30 minutes dealing with a confused receptionist, only to learn there was no issue at all—a complete waste of time and energy when I was already worn out. Overall, the lack of basic amenities, poor service, and unnecessary hassles made this stay a nightmare. I strongly recommend avoiding [Hotel Name] unless you want a stressful, disappointing experience. Save your money and book elsewhere.

Yelp
While the hotel is fine and unique as moxys are. It was clean and it was safe and it was cheaper then city centre but that's the issue, you're so far from city centre you will be ubering or taking taxis for that trade off so be mindful of the distance and do your research. Otherwise an okay stay. Rooms are small.

Yelp
The Moxy was a very nice and modern hotel, with a lot of cute and quirky touches. There is a restaurant and bar downstairs, where the check in also happens (at the bar). There were expertly themed seating areas everywhere in the lobby, a game area with board games set out, and eclectic décor all over. There are cute lockers and a media center too, off of the lobby and near the spa. The hallways on each floor also had hipstery décor touches, with music frequency patterns on the hall carpets and an atrium area with a chain link stingray art installation. There was an "unfinished" look to the walls, and I'm not sure if they were actually unfinished or if that was the look they wanted. We stayed in a twin room with two twin beds. They were nice and comfortable with a bean bag recliner chair and ottoman also provided in the corner of the room. The bathroom was large and the toiletries were very nice. I especially loved the scent of the pink shower gel and soap/lotion. There was a nice view from our room to the North Sea Canal out your window, and you can watch the boats go by/come in. There is also a little dock/pier right outside and you can go to that point to take some nice photos of the docklands. The only feature about the room that we didn't love was that there is a motion activated light under each bed frame and it is very sensitive. So we had the lights flashing on and off randomly throughout the night whenever we would move or the blanket would hang off the bed a tiny bit. The area (Houthavens) is very quiet and not super close to the city center of Amsterdam, but there is a bus stop nearby (about a 10-minute walk) that will connect you to the whole city easily with a 15-20 minute bus ride. They sell the daily bus passes at the front desk/bar area and I highly recommend buying one to get you to the center of town each day! The hotel also rents out bicycles, which is very nice to ride around the Houthavens area. The area itself is very much "under development" with several construction areas still around the hotel and a few businesses that had moved in to the new buildings around, but not a ton of shops/restaurants nearby. There are a few (we ate at Pont 13 and it was great) but just not too many right now as the area is still developing. The staff is very nice and accommodating, making sure we had everything we needed while we were there. They have a policy that there are no phones in the rooms and if you need anything, you have to come down to the front desk to chat with a staff member. I didn't have a problem with this, but just be aware that it is the policy for now. When we checked out, we didn't have a bus out of town until that night, and the staff allowed us to store our luggage inside the cute lockers over by the spa area. The breakfast is very light (fruits, a few pastries, cereal) and is $10 per person. Not too filling, but just enough for a quick snack to start your day. Overall, I think this hotel was great and very young and vibrant, but in a not-so-hoppin' area. I think it will be a wonderful little gem outside the hustle and bustle of the city center once the area around there is more developed, where you can actually stay in that area and enjoy the neighborhood!

Yelp
This hotel has an amazing cute vibe and it is right on the industrial waterway. They have a great bar in the lobby with amazing local beers, wines and a light menu. They have board games available and foosball as well. They have a nice outdoor area too. It is definitely geared toward a younger traveler, however it is also a bit more budget minded but still part of the Marriott brand. It is funky and eclectic and the staff is amazing. The general manager Petra goes above and beyond as well as Dimple and the front desk and bar staff. I would stay here again. Very clean! Staff is awesome! Good internet.

Yelp
I stayed here outside of the city center to save my company some money as hotel stays in the city center were north of 500 euros. This was my first time staying at a Moxy so I didn't know what to expect. I arrived to a very contemporary and modern looking lobby with very unique decor with things you would find in a shipping yard such as metal shipping containers and wooden pallets. The check-in counter was at the bar and the first thing I was told is the bar/cafe is open 24/7 which was cool. The staff gave great direction on how to catch bus 48 to the central station as well as Uber pick up. My room was not immediately ready so I shoved my luggage in pink lockers and walked to nearby restaurant. I came back and my room was ready so I headed upstairs. The area upstairs and the room has an effect of an unfinished drywall job. The room had no closet, no coffee maker and no telephone. This set-up is perfect for a millennial but I still prefer a redundant wake-up call in addition to my cell phone alarm. The A/C was a "climate control" and could only be adjusted +/- 3C. The coldest my room got was 21C which is not good enough. I asked for a cooling fan and they didn't have one. I came down for breakfast the next morning for 10 euro and the breakfast was rubbish. Despite having a bar/cafe that is open 24 hours, there is no food offered except for breakfast and small bags of snacks. The drag was on check out I specified Euros and they charged me USD which resulted in a 3.5% penalty that came out to $28.65. I do not recommend this hotel.

Yelp
The Moxy Hotel in Amsterdam is a pretty crappy hotel. There I said it. I originally reserved my room online and reserved a queen size bed. They sent me an email the day before and it said check in now for the hotel. I check in and said I would be arriving at 11 am. When we arrived they said that the room was not ready yet. It was completely okay that the room was not ready yet. I also reserved a harbor view when I booked my reservation. We waited for about an hour and went to use the computers at the hotel. The computer had a printing station, but I guess the printer was not working as we were told we needed to email our stuff to the front desk and they would print it for us. They should have put up a sign saying not to print. The guy who was working around 12 came up to 2 of the 3 of us and said he has rooms available for us. We got check in and off we went. I went into my room to find 2 twin beds and no harbor view. I took myself downstairs and told the guy that this is not what I booked and I would like the room I had booked. The guy told me they were all sold out and they would not have the room I booked that night and this was all they could do. I then asked if they would be lowering the price since this is not what I booked. I was told no. That the room the gave me was an upgrade and I would have to stay in it if I wanted to stay in this hotel. Now I am a big guy and to put me on a twin bed is a joke... I did not fit on the bed at all, My legs went off the edge and I could not roll over at all. It was a nightmare. Be careful staying at the Moxy hotel. It is not a great hotel and is not close to anything. It was just plain bad.

Yelp
Great hotel, bad location The moxy amsterdam is nice member of the moxy family, known for their small rooms and communal living areas this follows suit. The rooms were a bit larger than some of their properties in Europe but small by american standards. The sad part is the location, its not really any where close to the old city of amsterdam, in fact its about a 15 minute Uber ride from Damrak. Overall a decent western style hotel with decent amenities but poor location from where you want to be.

Yelp
So I am rounding this place up from 3.5 So I'm a fan of Moxy hotels and do stay in the NYC one regularly just because I feel that they do try their best to implement that "edgy" modern feel, definitely geared towards younger people. The thing is, this particular Moxy didn't really appeal to me as much as I would've expected. The rooms were pretty decent and clean but there were a few details about it where I was a little put off by. So you can tell that they do try their best to clean and keep a certain standard, however, I was a bit disappointed to see that there were used contact lenses nearby the bathroom trash can. Granted it was a small detail, it was still disappointing. I thought it was a little strange that they didn't have a phone in the hotel, and every single request you had to make was by going physically down to the lobby. I get that there are made to be trendy, etc. but honestly a phone would've been useful. In regards to traveling, I think that the hotel wasn't too far from the city center, however it wasn't the best location. There is a bus stop not too far (5 min walk ish) from the hotel, but it was still a hassle to go back and forth. All in all, I think the hotel isn't too bad if you're looking for a clean and quiet place to stay but just be mindful of its location, and I would recommend you not to think of it as some "boutique" hotel but more of a step above hostels yet not something where you're looking to break the bank.

Yelp
This is an awesome property that will be amazing once all the construction around it is complete. Situated on the water in a newer area this property has a modern vibe. The use of color and clean lines and with a bit of an edge this property can definitely attract a millennial crowd. The open areas with games and comfortable seating would definitely appeal to families and business tourists would enjoy the large seating areas, WiFi, lounge/bar in the lobby and a business center on the 9th floor. When we arrived the computers were down so we couldn't check in. We never got a call or an email even though I have the mobile app but apparently the mobile app was down as well. By the time we returned all the "good view" rooms were gone. Our first room overlooked the inside of a large construction zone with bright lights. Our second room was much better but the jackhammers in the morning.....aaargh! I understand issues can come up but there should be some indication to ppl coming regarding the construction and a possible adjustment for the inconvenience. Overall a great place and I would surely come back. The staff were all super accommodating and helpful and I love when I tagged the hotel on Instagram, I got a freebie!

Yelp
Moxy is a new brand for the Marriott chain, and I think they are still figuring it out. It's supposed to be edgy and hip (like a W 20 years ago?) but it's identity is more budget than anything else. The following are the aspects of the Moxy that I didn't particularly like: - The location is fairly remote and industrial, so there isn't anything around and very little within walking distance. There isn't much public transportation that runs to that area, so you'll need to walk, take an uber/taxi or bicycle. - There aren't phones in the room, so if you are having any problems or issues, you have to go down to the "front desk" and ask. I was told that this is supposed to encourage more "conversations" to occur, but it seems more like a cost savings measure. Instead of having people answer your calls, you have to wait in a queue of people who are checking in, checking out or settling bills if you have a question about towels in your room. And the lines are generally long; it was about 5-10 minutes per guest...since these are also the same individuals who are serving drinks in the evening and coffee in the morning. So instead of having reception staff, housekeeping staff and food service staff, the Moxy has them consolidated into a couple of people. - There isn't room service but there is food on premises. The food on premises is kept right next to check-in, but it's not very good or variable. I was staying at this location for a few nights and was surprised to find the same lunch/dinner offerings every day (and the offerings are the same for lunch and dinner). There are 5-6 selections which are each okay but generally heavy cuisines or types of food. There is a continental breakfast buffet for 10 euros in the morning; breakfast is served until 10 am, and you should be there by 9:30 if you want to make sure you get any of the good stuff. - There are no room safes. - The floors where the rooms are look unfinished; I'm not sure if that's the look they are going for, but there weren't many guests and it made it feel as though the floors were abandoned. The staff tried to be as helpful and friendly as they could be, but I think they are fighting a losing battle as the hotel isn't sufficiently staffed. As of the end of May/beginning of June 2018, there was considerable construction going on in the area. The noise wasn't a huge issue, but they hit the generator one morning and electricity was out all morning.

Yelp
We enjoyed a very pleasant stay at the Moxy hotel in Amsterdam. Until we discovered a very dirty secret... We checked in on Thursday 18 July for 3 nights - and that first evening enjoyed some Deliveroo takeaway on bed as there was no table. Then accidentally spilled some food on the duvets. The next morning after we stepped out the bed was made neatly by room service and looked all clean. We were happy that your staff "cleaned " our bed. We did however noticed that the dirty glasses next to our bed were not removed and nothing else in the room was cleaned up. Today when we opened our bedsheets a bit further we noticed that on the INSIDE of our duvet cover all the food stains were from the first night! Please see picture attached. Not only have our sheets not been cleaned for 3 days but a false impression has been given that they were! We were astonished to find out that our sheets had never been cleaned - staff has merely turned the duvet upside down in order to HIDE the stains. We are so shocked by this poor hygiene standard. We have been sleeping for 2 nights unknowingly under dirty sheets with our bodies touching dirty food stains including many bacteria. We feel super grossed out and did not expect this from a hotel that charges 150 euros a night. We went to complain to the reception and was told to write an email. and The answer from the hotel was ver unsatisfying- that they do their best to check every aspect of the room, "we spot check the full linen (completely deconstructing the bed) twice a day. We would love to do this with every room, but that would unfortunately be too time consuming."

Yelp
Only at the Moxy do you find fun, energetic staff who are so hospitable that they make you feel right at home. Only at the Moxy will you find front desk staff that are bartenders because the front desk is the bar. Only at the Moxy do they throw a legit opening party with a kick butt DJ, eclectic open bar, a station where you can get tatted up all for their guests and honorary millennial members of the Dam community! From check-in to check-out, the Moxy was probably one of the best hotel experiences I have had (and trust me, because I've stayed at my fair share of hotel in my lifetime). Daniel checked our family of 2 and a baby in a jiff. According to him he upgraded us to a slightly larger room because we had our 15 month with us and because I am a Gold Elite member. The room had a nice view of the harbor and functional for a leisure stay. And when I say a leisure stay I meant it isn't catered for the business crowd. There aren't any irons in the room and you are required to iron in a common room on our floor and there isn't any closet or drawer space to put your clothes. For us, it didn't matter. The room was a bit small than what I am used to but hey, it's Europe. I thought the bathroom was perfect for our family as it had a rain shower and the soap was sassy (perfect for a woman, maybe not a guy so much). And I am pretty sure I read a review prior to my stay about the Moxy not having a hair dryer... well that's not true. The bathroom was equipped with an awesome one! It would have been nice if the room was equipped with a refrigerator but it isn't. However, what was a nice to have didn't really matter because Adam from England was AMAZING! He anticipated that we would have needed milk and a refrigerator for our baby's milk so he advised us not to worry and that we could ask him or anyone at the front desk for milk when we needed it. In our 3 night stay at the Moxy every morning and evening we had convenience of having milk for our son and all free of charge!!! Adam and the rest of the staff were amazing in accommodating our little Lukas! The hotel has got this "I am in my 20's and I'm untouchable" spunk to it! There were neon pink lockers with cute sayings on them, a beautiful fireplace, foosball, hanging chairs, a strange vine like hallway and much more! The Moxy was the cOolest decorated I had ever seen! The Moxy was so cOol that when we checked in the first night, they were throwing their opening party. Although the Moxy has already been open for a couple of months, they were now celebrating its opening. The opening party was uncannily, insanely awesome with a hip Dam DJ playing club beats while go-go type dancers moved to the music, party goers were happily posing in front of the Moxy fireplace photo booth, dancing, chatting, enjoying to complementary food and beverages. In the midst of this craziness we were there with our 15 month old dancing to the music (he was quite a hit being the only baby at the party). Nonetheless, we only stayed to enjoy enough of the party and went up to our room after a couple of drinks and when it was time for Lukas to hit the sack. Although the party went on hours after we went up to our room, we couldn't hear anything (thank God because it was bumping!). The location for us was perfect as we were removed from the crazy traffic in Amsterdam but close enough to jump in a 7 - 10 minute Uber ride to Dam Square. I will say that the Moxy is in the middle of an up in coming industrialized business and residential area however, at the moment there isn't much around. If you wanted restaurants you had to Uber to city center and the Moxy isn't a full-service hotel so the food was like prepackaged sandwiches that didn't look too appetizing). Also there is dust and piles of construction gravel all around since there is a lot of building happening just behind the Moxy. That didn't bother us! Okay, so we didn't have a normal stay but that is why the Moxy was so special and one of the best hotel experiences we have ever had! We would stay here again in a heartbeat! Nothing but love #atthemoxy!

Yelp
Friendly staff that really really tries to please but they can't overcome the other shortfalls of the hotel. Loud electric music in lobby/bar/dining area. 10 Euro for a pathetic continental breakfast. The smallest, most I'll-equipped room in the Marriott chain. A bed and (I'm not making this up) a bean bag chair less than 20 inches high. No closet. No dresser. No place to put ANYTHING. Had to ask for wash cloth which was necessary since they provide pump bottles of liquid soap. Housekeeping made the bed each day but did not provide clean wash cloths. The visibly empty facial tissue box was left empty. Visibly used drinking glasses were not replaced with clean ones. Probably a great place if you consider yourself a hipster. After looking around the lobby area and struggling to get up from the bean bag chair in my room, I'd say if you're over 30 and don't sport tattoos and a man-bun, you'd be happier in another hotel.

Lex L.

Yelp
This hotel is trash. I have never been in anything more unaccommodating. First, there is limited space in the room. The space is even smaller being that there are no closets or areas to store luggage, coats, etc. There are no phones in the room. So every time there is an issue, a request, a question, a desire for something... anything.. you have to go downstairs to the front desk and speak to someone. The TV's in the room don't work, when you cut them on, they cut off after about 7-10 minutes, randomly. You may decide you need assistance from maintenance to fix the issue, but you'd have to go downstairs and let someone know and then wait for maintenance to come upstairs -- only to reveal there's no way to fix it. The view? Terrible. The room looks completely unfinished. Wood planks with bolts and screws visible/ exposed. The staff is awesome, group of great people who are very helpful and always available. The hotel does offer you drinks when you arrive, in the form of poker chips (or you can drink when you arrive). Overall, I definitely wouldn't want to stay here, nor would this be a place I'd want to come to enjoy a trip only to come back to a room as inconvenient, incomplete, unwelcoming and cold as this one. Many of these things I wish I knew before coming -- would have made a different choice.

Yelp
First time staying in Amsterdam this past September. I had such a pleasant stay at the moxy. The rooms were a good size. Not to mention right around the corner from the bus. We just walked to the bus stop each day. Very trendy hotel. I will be returning to stay.

Thaw Z.

Yelp
All staffs are very nice and helpful except this hotel needs to improve the rooms that it doesn't even have a closet, phone , no coffee in maker and unfinished room in order to reach Marriott standards. Transportation is not too bad. You can take a bus to central station that it will charge you EUR 3.20 one way. If you are coming from AMS airport, take a train to central station which cost EUR 5.50 and take bus 48 from central station which cost EUR 3.20 unless you want to take Uber or taxi.
