5 Great Hotels Around the World for Solo Travelers - AFAR

"Part of a global, 'stylish and playful' Marriott Bonvoy brand, this property emphasizes lively public spaces as much as private rooms: check-in happens at the bar with a made-to-order complimentary beverage to encourage immediate socializing, while the traditional lobby offers movable poufs and plenty of couches. A neighboring co-working room is filled with café tables and laptops, making it friendly for remote work. Situated in the city's historic center, the hotel is easy to explore on foot or by metro. The top-floor 'Moxyfied' suite occupies the entire floor and features a near–360° wraparound private garden with Acropolis views and two large outdoor patios, creating a spacious yet cozy retreat." - Alexandra Cheney

Cozy clean hotel. The lobby is bit rough to get to since there isn’t clearly defined place to stop. There isn’t anyone nearby to help with luggage we walked everything ourselves in and out which isn’t a big deal but a bit cumbersome with less agile party members with restricted mobility. The breakfast was light and decent. Our room was also spacious with a good view of the square. A/C did take awhile to cool down the room though. All in all highly recommended if staying in the area. It’s a bit far away from all the action in Athens. Not really close to any of the major landmarks.

We stayed one night prior to a Cruise. The hotel is clean, modern and very well located. You can walk to Monastiraky Square (highly recommended), and there is a good department store right across the street (Hondos Center) to do some shopping. |Staff is super friendly and helpful (I emailed the hotel in advance in order to get some suggestions to get there from the airport and they replied right away).|The only Cons are that rooms are quite small (albeit modern) and breakfast is expensive for what it is.

From the moment we stepped through the door, the energy at Moxy Athens was electric—in the best way possible. You can tell immediately that this is a team that works together. No egos. No attitude. Just a group of genuinely kind, helpful people all moving with the same goal: to make your stay smooth, fun, and easy.||||Alban at the front desk was a total rockstar - friendly, efficient, and full of great vibes. He checked us in with a smile and made us feel welcome from the jump. Thomas, the bag guy, handled our luggage with care and a warm attitude. No fuss, just that quiet kind of competence that makes travel feel a little more relaxed.||||Every interaction with the staff felt like we were being welcomed into a space where people like each other, help each other out, and take pride in what they do. That kind of environment is rare, and honestly made all the difference for us.||||The hotel itself is stylish, clean, and has that playful Moxy charm, but it’s the team that really sets this place apart.||||Can’t wait to stay again. Thanks Alban, Thomas, and the whole crew - you made our Athens stop unforgettable!

Super friendly staff and great location for a stay inn Athens. It also has a great food selection that is not your normal fare. The rooms are quiet and clean. Great spot. Also not sure why it looks like I gave 4.5 - this a 5🌟spot!!!

Nice boutique hotel in Athens. The room was adequate for a family of three. The room was clean and the A/C worked great. We had the breakfast option and there were many food options. We were able to walk to many restaurants and taxis were readily available. I would stay here again.

This property hasn't failed us yet. I've already reviewed this property before and my rating still stands. The service is amazing. The night bar staff make this so comfortable that it actually feels like a neighbourhood watering hole 😊The location is perfect. The rooms are clean, contemporary and well-appointed.

The not-so-good: So, you know those hotels that try to have really artsy, edgy, and modern rooms that end up being pretty impractical? That's the Moxy Athens. The rooms were pseudo-industrial looking with cold concrete-like floors with virtually no storage space. We stayed here for one night. A longer stay that would have involved unpacking would have been difficult.|The good: the hotel staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The welcome drink upon arrival was appreciated. We also appreciated how we had asked for a high floor but asked if we would like a lower floor because of an event on the roof that night.

Very mediocre hotel. We booked two rooms and paid more for one to be “center stage” - but they put us in two rooms on the second floor facing a brick wall. If we didn’t go back to reception and ask for one to be changed, we would’ve been paying extra for the worst rooms in the hotel. Not only did one of the rooms face a brick wall with a loud motor noise running outside the window and almost no natural light, but the lights directly in front on the emergency staircase kept turning on and off all night. When I told reception it disrupted my sleep, they told me to just close my black out shades so I wouldn’t notice it. I definitely do NOT recommend this hotel for USG travelers - this is the most disappointing room I’ve ever stayed in at a Marriott anywhere. And like others have mentioned, there is a super loud rooftop party on weekend nights (including Sunday) that can be heard ALL throughout the hotel. Overall just not a great choice if you are looking for a comfortable, quiet stay. Rooms were clean though. Location is gritty, but not too bad of a walk to the main sites. The staff at the concierge were excellent and had great recommendations for dinner and helped make reservations.
