I usually like the Moxy a lot, but this location did not live up to the usual standard. I'm sure because it's in Atlanta, it gets a lot of traffic and wears a bit faster, but still. It just wasn't the experience I was hoping for. Even entering the lobby at check-in, I wasn't met with that Moxy signature scent I love and look forward to.
We arrived early and had to wait a couple hours before we could get the keys to our room. Once we got in, I went to the restroom. When I closed the door, the bottom portion was swinging on the tracks, away from the wall, aka broken. Because of this, the door didn't stay put and always had a crack where from you could be seen doing your business.
While peeing, I noticed a hunk of something brown on the floor near the shower. I panicked, thinking it was somebody's-- well, you know. But it turned out to be chocolate candybar. I genuinely don't know how a bathroom is cleaned and that's missed.
We brought our dog and needed a place to store his food, so later that afternoon we requested a mini fridge. When we picked up the room phone, it didn't work. Plugged it and replugged, still nothing. My partner called on their cell phone and was immediately placed on hold. After 15 full minutes, I realized they probably forgot about us, so I called on my cell and got an immediate answer.
The person that brought the fridge volunteered to bring it into the room, but I was showering and because of the bathroom door situation, we had him leave it in the hall.
The window shade was cocked at an awkward 25% position where you could tell it was jammed up and wouldn't go any further. When we tried to close them for bed, the string would not move at all, so we had to stand on a chair and slowly coax the shade down. Then we discovered it was damaged and had holes where light could poke through.
The other Moxy hotels I've stayed at have had a locker where you can help yourself to towels, razors, toothpastes, etc. I didnt see that at this one, so I called and asked for fresh towels. I specified that I'd like extra wash cloths (1 for face + 1 for body x 2 guests, so 4) and they still brought only 2.
The room was standard overall, but a few things stood out to me. I didn't wash my hair, but for some reason the bathroom had the hand soap inside the shower?? I forgot to bring lotion and usually they have a pink bottle that in the bathroom room as well, but this one did not.
The TV felt a bit outdated as it only had the option to sign into a couple streaming platforms. This is small, but the hangers were so so raggedy -- they need to be retired.
