Moyan Curry

Wolfed it down in under five minutes. Wish I'd paid for refills, I'd go another round. But I didn't understand how this place worked until I'd paid. Now I do, I wish to return soon! Many delicious curries of varying spice levels, served buffet style in a very cool restaurant. Unlike any curry restaurant I've been in before. I highly recommend it. It's cashless and you pay up front via machine, and there's only one, so that does create for a line. Bare that in mind.

Some coworkers and I were able to get a same-day reservation for 5 at Moyan Curry, and while I was initially apprehensive (what kind of restaurant in Shibuya has that kind of availability?), we ended up very happy with it! First, the food. I've eaten an awful lot of Japanese curry and this may have been the best I have ever had. Word of warning, though, the spice scale is no joke. I had a 3 out of 5 and it was definitely hotter than the hottest Golden Curry flavor, to give a point of reference. I was fine and it was delicious, just was more than I was expecting from a Japanese spiciness scale. I was happy I'd added the tuna avocado addon as it helped cut the spice. The staff was also good and accommodating, and spoke a little English which was helpful. Definitely friendly to foreigners which I appreciate. Ordering is done via an online menu via QR code which wasn't well-translated, but fortunately I was able to read enough Japanese to get by, and everything had pictures so even without any Japanese you'd probably be ok. The decor is also very unique and full of character.

Came here for dinner after craving a big post workout meal. Didn’t realize it was buffet style but that was a pleasant surprise. You can choose 1, 2 or as many plate refills as you want at different pricepoints. They offered a variety of different curries in the buffet as well as a plethora of side dishes and veggies. I also ordered a side of beef tendon extra to put in my curry. The unique curries were surprisingly nuanced given it was a buffet. Most other all you can eat places just serve standard box roux nonsense but this place is quite legit. Overall a great experience and for the price it’s well worth it!

We wandered into this place on a whim after visiting Shibuya Crossing. It was the perfect cap to the evening. Small, tucked away but fairly lively with a very friendly staff. Despite having absolutely zero line, the food totally exceeded our expectations and was really delicious (and very very filling). The atmosphere was nice (kind of a hodgepodge of decorations but warm and cozy). Would absolutely recommend for anyone hungry after a long day of walking around Shibuya.

This Moyan Curry is slightly different from the one I usually go in Kabukicho. Here, at night, they have a buffet system. You pay accordingly to how many refills you want, and then you choose from all the available options what do you want to eat. This idea is very creative but I must mention that my rice was a bit cold when I had it, which was kinda disappointing. But taste wise, everything was great at usual, and I definitely don't regret coming here, I got to enjoy some pineapple, too! And the vibe is super nice and much more roomy than the kabukicho store!

The curry was so bold and flavorful. Some of the best tonkatsu curry I’ve ever had. The spice level is perfect and the cheese added was delicious.

Really tasty curry. I had the wagyu cheek curry and pickled mushroom tapas. It's wonderfully sweet and tangy. Feels so complex, almost like a Mexican mole sauce. It even looks like it. The mushrooms we're really good too. Combined well with the curry. It's a little expensive but I think it's worth it. The inside has a relaxing island vibe. There's also free self-service tea and coffee. There's even a mirror in front of each counter seat to check if you have delicious curry residue on your face.
