MPT Tansen Residency, Gwalior

We stayed in this hotel on 16th Feb 2026. They stay was good. The rooms were neat and clean. The staff was courteous & efficient and provided excellent service. The hotel is located right in center of Gwalior and visiting various attractions is easy from here. Breakfast and dinner is passable.

Being a government property Tansen holds one of the best locations in city as well as area, situated walking near railway station and multiple eateries including Indian Coffee House. Offcourse there are some renovations in progress with multiple central and state dignitaries leaving the day we arrived. The corridor and entrance is decent, staff is courteous and rooms are decent but rugged now. Highlight is the ghazal nights bringing the flavour of music in this city known for its gharanas. The food though slow was for sure delicious and so was the breakfast spread. They sticked to highlight the local dishes despite the spread being extensive for the buffet breakfast. Please be patient being aware of the slow order fulfillment rate more so with ghazal nights perhaps going with the flow of music. Ample parking and neat rooms. Overall place do requires maintenance but being MPTB owned and run the are doing a fab job.

Service is so so. They hired few rooms to a marriage party, Noisy, Loud music for major part of day and night. Didn't bother about other guests. Only good thing is Old songs by a local singer with dinner. That part was good.

Great place! Clean,Comfortable and Cosy rooms with all amenities!! Very well arranged. Excellent food, served sumptuously and breakfast is also served with utmost care. Over and above all this the polite and professional staff touched our heart ❤. Hats 👒 off to Tansen Residency!!!

Stayed here 3 nights after an MPT stay in Orchha, Khajuraho, Chanderi, Sanchi and Ujjain. Did we get a bit tired of the MPT restaurant menu? Yes of course we did. But this edition of MPT was quite good and ecommended. Very well located and clean with a good bed and a decent restaurant. Would I have liked true "filter coffee" ? Of course. But the included breakfast buffet is great. See our pics.

I always prefer to stay at MPT whether Orcha, Shivpuri, Maheshwar or anywhere else. I had a chance of interaction with Ms Kamini ji Saxena during our stay with my family and she was extremely courteous to guide us what could be POI during our visit. Many thanks to her and also to MPT to have such team member at front desk. As regards to rooms there is lot to do to bring it upto 3 star standards at least in terms of pillows, linen, toiletries and other things. As myself from Udaipur which boasts of finest hotels in the world with great heritage and hospitality. But as a State Government organisation it is good.

Had an excellent experience at Tansen Residency. Rooms, service, food and staff behaviour - everything was great. The arrangement of live music in the dining hall was really an awesome experience. The singer and accompanying Tabla players are really very good.

Very pieceful grand looking hotel at Gwalior. Location is in the neighborhood of Top brass Govt officials at Gwalior. Restaurant is well maintained, and food is delicious. Ideal for travellers.
