Truly a trailblazing store that is still going strong so many years later. Some of the food is a little overpriced but the taste more than makes up for it. Such a unique experience that never disappoints. The OG roll is still the best!

Love this place, it's been a few years since I first tried it then had it twice delivered within 2 weeks. Prompt delivery & food was still fresh & not soggy. Baguette is just right & balances well with the pork & slaw. Chips slightly warm but still crunchy. Can't go wrong with the pork roll & the crackling.

The place might not look like it, but wow, the food here is amazing! I tried the honey roasted pork bbq. They also give me some kind of a salsa verde sauce which contains green onion & garlic? (I think?) it was bomb!

Simple, fresh, hearty and tasty food. I tried lamb and classic crackling. Both were just amazing. The baguette bread was fresh with a good crunch. The seasoning, dressing and the salads were just so balanced. They serve food until midnight. Definitely worth of trying if you are looking for a delicious bite.

Had an okay-ish meal at Mr Crackles with another friend. That being said, the meal costed me around $30 and I wasn't really full by the end because the portions were so small (Pro tip: do not get the rice, stingiest portion relative to the rest). The crackling skin was nice and crispy at least, but nothing super impressive either. Probably wouldn't really come back as it felt quite average and the place is a bit out of the way for me.

This place really lives up to its name. There are limited seating and the benchtops are really high up. It is best to take away and eat it somewhere more comfortable. Definitely recommend this place if you are looking for some crispy pork skin!

I love a good chicharrón, or crackling pork for my non Latinos, so we stopped by Mr. Crackles for a bite. The food was great! My husband had the Big Dog with carmelized onions and I had the Sticky BBQ Pork while we shared fries and a cup of crackling pork. Very good!! Our only complaint was the space didn’t have much seating. That said, we’d still return.

We had pork salad, fries and the bogan . The pork was okay crunchy, but the salad (cabbage, cucumber, shallots, carrot; topped with some mayo sauce) was not that fresh. The bogan was average. The fries was prepared in stale oil. We had to ask for sauce for the fries. Not worth the price. The staff who took the order did not notify me that there was surcharge if we pay by Eftpos. I realised after I paid the bill and looked at the receipt. Well, I am not going back again.

Oink Oink! This place is meat heaven. This is a small little shop, there's a few seats with a counter to eat at, but I believe most people order take away. This place was recommended by an Aussie friend. She said if i eat anywhere in AU, to make sure it's at Mr. Crackles. We ordered the ever so delicious "Sweet Pork" -Master stock braised pork belly served with a cabbage salad, mayo in a soft bun, I'm still dreaming about that sandwich. We also ordered the "Sticky BBQ Pork" BBQ pork, Smokey BBQ sauce, Ranch salad and onion rings in a soft bun. Can't wait to go back and try some other delicious sandwiches, they also have some fries, nacho fries, bbq fries, onion rings and other tasty little bites. It's cracklin' and I'm drooling over my next visit.

Belly pork! The sandwiches and salads are amazing - delicious slow roasted belly pork, plenty of crunchy crackling and light fresh salad. The real crusty French style baguette was a great touch. A little bit expensive though - nicey but pricey!!

This is a small store. There is no table service and there is limited seating. This place makes some of the best sandwiches I have ever tasted. All the sandwiches are made with pork belly. Pork belly tastes great but it is very fattening. The classic is awesome but the bread is extremely hard. Ask them for the soft roll with your sandwich.

I would've given Mr. Crackles a 5-star, but the onion rings were too salty. My fiancée and I couldn't stomach them. However, they were cooked perfectly well. Still, the saltiness was too much for us to handle. The Mr. Crackles Classic THOUGH was AMAZING!!! The pork belly was cooked perfectly well! The veggies complimented the richness of the meat. The bread was crunchy and fresh! They have a wide variety of choices...classic pork belly to BBQ meat. I'm crossing my fingers that they migrate over to the USA specifically in the Bay Area. I'd be happy to work together and open a franchise as well. Heh, wishful thinking...I know!

My Husband tried this place the other night when he was craving a late night snack and he loved it. He brought me here last night to try, we got the Crackels Classic which was Pork Belly with picked Vegetables on a soft roll. We also got the Chicken Katsu with Chicken, Asian Slaw, Wasabi Mayo on a French Roll. I like the Classic the best, it was juicy and tender and the Roll was soft, I did not care for the hard French roll. This is place is small with a counter and benches and is located in a area with a lot of Clubs and Pubs.

I made sure to order extra meat on my sandwich but it seemed like they didn't put it on. The sandwich was good but definitely not the best that I've had. Would I recommend: If you haven't been here before then I would give it a try.

This is hands downs the best roast pork and crispy crackling sandwich that you can get anywhere. The classic Mr Crackles is a crusty french roll filled with juicy, fatty pork that will melt in your mouth, and the crispiest crackling you will ever sink your teeth in! They also put a delicious aioli and picked vegetables in it, so it's almost got a bit of a banh mi kind flair to it. if you're in Sydney, this is a must go spot.

This is a great hole in the wall place that opens up from 12. The food is great! It's tasty, fresh, well presented. The downside is the cost. A standard sandwich is $15, if you add a drink then it's another $3 (for a can of soda) and then there's a surcharge added if you're paying by card. These are substantial detractors which is in addition to the limited space to eat with awkward bench heights. Grab your sandwich to go and camp out either new Darlinghurst courthouse or walk down to Hyde Park to try and have your lunch.

The food is fine (though I think the place two doors up is a little better) but, even after I specifically suggested that it must be awful having to wash your hands after every time you touch the money, Mr. Crackle with all the tattoos didn't take the hint and didn't wash his hands. It's that sort of thing that makes me never go back to a place. :(

I was fully expecting this place to be overrated, but it is actually really good. The pork roll while expensive is very delicious. The crackling is so crunchy, and the pork meat is so moist and tender. The bun is also very crunchy and freshly toasted, and the coleslaw just has a hint of sour and freshness which balances the fat so well. The seating area is tiny though, and it does get quite busy

There's something special about a culinary joint who has really found a unique sweet spot, and that's certainly the case with Mr. Crackles. Whether you're adventurous enough to go straight for the crispy pig skin or a bit more on the conservative side, Mr. Crackles very likely has a pork concoction that will suit your fancy. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? If you couldn't tell by the raw excitement radiating off of some of the other reviews, Mr. Crackles delivers, and you can tell by their pretty basic brick and mortar setup that delivery is where they bring in some serious revenue. The storefront is basic with maybe 10 seats in the entire place, and the fried pork skin is right there for all to see just to make sure that you're dedicated to what you're about to consume. Service is fast and as friendly as you could hope for, so certainly no complaints here. Star Granted. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? As others have stated, Mr. Crackles isn't exactly cheap, and while my Sweet Pork Roll was pretty sizable, it ran me $13.50. While that's not unreasonable ($15.00 would have been unreasonable) and other menu items are priced sub $10.00, keep in mind that this is a tier above the price range you might be comfortable with for a late night bite. Star Granted. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? Yum. I've had pork sandwiches of all shapes, sizes and styles, but my Sweet Pork Roll was unique. In between a soft and buttery roll (akin to what you'd have your lobster roll served in back stateside) was some delicious and tender sweet pork mixed with a lettuce and mayo blend. Replace the roll with an asian bun and you'd be looking at a classic pork bao sandwich, which I think is why I liked it so much. Great flavor, great consistency, and a great sandwich. Dual Stars Granted. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? It's close, but the price range and somewhat narrow focus of the menu make it such that I can't quite go five stars here. It's close though. No Star Granted.

This place was amazing. We ordered the crackles classic and char siu bun with a side order of crackling. Everything tasted great. The meat had lots of flavor the sauce was delicious. The service was fast and friendly and they even gave us great recommendations. I would definitely go back.

I saw this place on Instagram and knew I had to pay a visit when I went to Sydney. This place was relatively easy to find, good ol Oxford Street. I ordered the classic and MAN THAT PORK BELLY DOE. It was perfectly crispy and delicious, my mouth is watering just thinking about it. I give it -1 star because I got it for take away but the way that they wrapped it in, it was difficult to eat. I also ended up eating there and the chairs and little bar table was hard to deal with. Overall, THAT PORK BELLY DOE. I will definitely be back on my next visit to Sydney. This place is BOMB

Holy Crack Batman. This Aussie dispenser of "chicharron" or pork cracklings as they are called over here, is pretty awesome. I mean, what's not to like? It's basically a food truck type menu where everything has pork crackling in it or on it, hence they live up to their cheeky name. I have to say, it was not a value by any means. Everything in Sydney is ridiculous when it comes to price-it's worth a go if you are a fan of The Pig, a visit is a must. It won't disappoint.

Visiting from Baltimore, Maryland. Go O's. I was in my hotel room yelping places to eat for late night food. Found this place and decided to go. I couldn't sleep, getting used to the time zone. I text my sister in the other room and we decide to go get something to eat. It was worth the 14 minute walk from my hotel. I will halve to bring my wife back to try this fabulous food.

I put aside my apprehension about the name (reminded me too much of a past Northern Beaches criminal trial) and popped in last night to get GHB a roll - we had given up on Vivid and went to Darlo for food. Son of a gun that is a mighty fine roll, chip and whatever else is going joint. Fast food made with talent and a healthy dollop of verve. No wonder its always packed! Why didn't anyone else think of this - plain old fashioned short order stuff made as if it mattered to those who cook it and eat it!! Brilliant. Stuff you have always loved but have avoided because it has usually been just butchered - now its there in front of you and its made with care and and skill and ........FLAVOUR! Just check it out. Best joint on Oxford Street between Palmer and Taylor Square - it could be a part... time... model.

Although the Crackles Classic is meant to be the star dish of this joint, I would highly recommend the Prawn Po' Boy instead. It has tempura prawn, pork floss and a hint of chilli a lime - It's hard hitting in flavor without being over salted like its pork counterpart. This is an awesome post-party feed if you happen to be around Oxford St. However, I would avoid the crackling cups, they are way too thick and salty to be enjoyable, I struggled to finish one piece.

HNNNGGGHHHH My arteries! My poor, poor arteries. I'm so sorry to do this to you, but I need me some pork!!! Pork + crackling + fat = gawd damn + my poor poor arteries. Rocked up here yesterday with a friend to finally try this place out after passing by it so many times. We promptly ordered the Manwich, double the meat and half the salad, which you can get in any iteration, from pork to lamb to tonkotsu and more. They even have a monthly special roll, which this month is mexican. I opted for the sweet pork belly and he opted for the classic pork belly with a bit of chili. We also ordered a side of pork crackling (you kind of have to) and chips with chili salt. NOM NOM FUGGIN NOM. You know a meal is good if you get the meat sweats and tell yourself "I regret this decision but I would do it again." The sweet pork belly is like braised pork belly you could get at an Asian restaurant, but it's definitely on the sweet side. The original is like a pork roll (banh mi) but with much better pork. The chips were a pleasant surprise...the crackling was a bit of a let down because it was so hard it felt like you'd chip your tooth eating it. Protip: Don't get the Manwich unless you're a really big man...it's a bit too much meat. I'll be coming back for sure and ordering a normal size...and trying out their hot dogs. ***Update: So I tried their hot dog...and it's the most legitimately American style hot dog I've had in Sydney. You can order a 6" for $5 or a foot long for $7.50, with toppings $1 extra. Get it with pickles (relish) and prepare to feel like you're at a baseball game. Hello 5 stars!!!

We went to Mr Crackles specifically for the crackles and it was worth the $5. Super salty, crunchy yummy goodness. It's a giant roasted pork skin found in my pulled pork sandwiches. By itself, it's a very salty snack. Perfect with beer! Not a dining establishment but they do have a small counter if you want to eat there. Most of the people we saw there were for take out or takeaway (Aussie speak) Being Asian, Roasted Pork Skin is not a novelty but this is a different style, thicker harder and crunchy like a cookie. Good to try for the comparison.

Ummm, yeah, so this place....IT"S F-ING STUPID GOOD!!!! The wife and I were rolling home last night after watching We Are the Millers, (terrible...) and I was starving, so as we rolled down Oxford St, I saw Mr Crackles and yelled at the wife to pull over! I've been wanting to eat here for a while, mainly just because the name is so awesome, but also because I love pork and pork rinds!!! So, as the wife swung across multiple lanes of traffic and swerved into the bus lane, I ran into the shop, ordered a classic since I didn't even have time to read the menu, and then bounced around nervously looking into the street and back at the counter waiting for my sandwich to hit the counter! In less than a minute, that bad boy was out and I was back in the car! Amazing speed which is critical with a shop like this, that serves lots of drunks, and passersby. Now, on to that sandwich! Jebus Christo it was good! The pork, succulent, slightly salty, with a perfect flavor. Then just as you're loosing it over that, you hit a piece of crackling...words cannot describe the level of lust I was dealing with at this point, and I hadn't even hit the sauce and the fresh, crispy veggies layered at the bottom of the perfectly crusty soft bread of the roll!!! This seriously is the best sandwich I've had in Sydney, and probably the best one I've had anywhere in a long time, just nonsensically good!!! I'll be back on the regular, and can't wait to try the Mexican special they've got going this month!!! At $10, it was worth a whole lot more to me!

My porky prayers have been answered by the bacon gods. And the light of all which is bacon shall shine upon thee. Though shall bask the the crispy goodness and slather our insides with all that is tasty. Ahmen The music was a little shit. But this is not the sort of place you hang around.

CRACKLES CLASSIC The is almost the best pork roll ever, the succulent pork is the star here, tender meat and super crispy crackling. Fresh salad and decent chewy bread were average. Not much wrong with the ingredients, the main problem is that the roll is too small, it's like Kim Kardashian trying to get in her skinny jeans - more like a salad roll with chunky pieces of pork placed on top. Despite this I would still go back for their pork, it is definitely an experience but a messy one. CUP OF CRACKLING Crackling sounds like a very good mouth-watering idea. In practice, I think it's more of a novelty. After the first bite it's good for sure, it soon dries up your mouth. Crackling without pork fat not so yum. Conclusion Personnel is not that friendly, I hope its because they woke up at 3am to start cooking that delicious pork and perfecting his crackling. Definitely an experience, with a few menu tweaks this could be one of the best pork rolls in Sydney. Just be prepared to take-away as seating is very limited. Pork is wonderful but this roll is not well constructed, Taste Baguette's one wins this one. @thesydneynoob

Scrumptious porky skin crackling delicious! For the health conscious, don't order a side of pork crackling! Burp! Lol! A little messy, greasy sandwich, but very flavorful and moist pork! It's like a fusion Vietnam banh mi classic. Try the pork classic and just add a topping of crackling for $1! I requested the chilis on the side that way you can control your heat! Delicious!!!

I love pork rinds, so naturally I was excited when I stumbled upon this place. But maybe I was setting my expectation too high with all the great reviews I read, the experience itself was just A-OK! The classic sandwich with Crispy pork looks amazing but just doesn't have that much meat other than the layer they carefully place on the top. They also added way too much mayo in the sandwich making it very heavy. The bread itself was also very hard, not crisp. Maybe the experience would have been better if I got the meat only. I did enjoy the little portion of crispy pork I got in my sandwich. If you order a side, the portion is very generous. We got sweet potato fries and it came in a box the same size as the sandwich. They do accept credit card, but there's a surcharge of 1.5% for using the card.

Decided to try Mr Crackles from hearing about how nice it is, on Instagram. We ordered the Crackles Classic (Vietnamese pork roll with pork crackling) and the Crispy Pork Nacho Fries (fries, cheese and a few pieces of pork crackling). The Crackles Classic was nice but got a tad messy when eating. The pork on the nachos was d e l i c i o u s - nice and juicy, however the fries were cold and didn't taste really fresh. The shop itself is rather small with a few seats. Will I go back? I would go back but probably grab the pork belly with a side of salad instead.

I can't remember what my life was like pre-Mr Crackles. I would give this place a 10 out of 5 if I could - it is basically my idea of heaven. The place is run by 2 ex-Wharf chefs so they know what they are doing. Mr Crackles basically revolves around their various rolls - you can choose from the classic pork belly (slow roasted & 5-spiced with bits of crackling scattered through it), chicken, lamb, beef, sweet pork or vegetarian - all are served with salad on a beautiful white roll. My housemate upon arrival complained about how he wanted less salad and more meat, and what do you know, you can order "The Manwich" which is exactly that - half the salad, double the meat. Mr Crackles also does hotdogs, and a number of sides which you can't really get anywhere else and will have you salivating all over the shop - including chilli fries, and a CUP OF CRACKLING. You heard me right, literally a cup of pork crackling for $5. This shop is exactly what Oxford St needs for when you're dragging yourself home at god knows what hour - cheap, easy takeaway food that is actually incredibly delicious and cooked by professionals. The staff are always super friendly, and my absolute favourite part about the shop is because it's fairly new, there's a real sense of comradery between customers. I've never gone there and not gotten a head nod from a stranger there as if to say "ah, I see you've discovered the secret of life as well?" I actually smile when I see people stopping on the street to read the menu and then going in. It is so lame but that's how much I love this place - I even have a friend who I call "Daddy Crackles" because he's the one that told me about the place and is basically their #1 customer. In summary, you must go there.

I finally understand the saying "too much of a good thing." After visiting Mr Crackles, I am officially crackled out. Possibly for good, possibly until the next family Sunday roast. I have been meaning to try Mr Crackles since a fellow Yelper suggested it for buffalo wings and hearing about a crash on the M2 right near my turnoff after work provided the perfect excuse to find somewhere to wait out the traffic and enjoy a new food experience. So off we went. Mr Crackles is unapologetic. That is the only word that comes to mind. No quinoa salads here to balance out the heavier menu items. The menu is pure, unadulterated grease. But don't worry about it. Book that gym class for later in the week and just go for it. The shop is take-away style. I was surprised by the lack of atmosphere. The staff weren't overly friendly to begin with, kind of like gruff butchers. Not unpleasant either though. My friend ordered a pork and vege dinner, my partner got the lamb roll (he's a bit allergic to pork - clearly from my restaurant choice and upcoming quotation marks you can see I'm sympathetic to people with "requirements"), and I got the special - a meatball, bacon and cheese thingy. We also ordered wings and a box of crackle to share. I'll start with the wings because of my ongoing obsession with finding the perfect buffalo wing in Sydney (so far my kitchen - the fact that I have turned to cooking shows my desperation). Standard Franks Sauce and butter combo, not a lot of meat, no trimmings. They're tasty enough, (Frank's sauce is drinkable) but if you're a wings tragic like me they're not going to hit the mark. Friend's review of the pork dinner - pretty good. Partner's review of the lamb roll - disappointing. My review of the meatball thingy - like an American hotdog with the frankfurt replaced by meatballs. Super cheesy, super saucy. I pretty much devoured that bad boy. They forgot to give us our crackle. We were so full I almost didn't worry about it. But of course I did. They rectified their mistake by giving us an extra crackle box for free. Way too much crackle for three people but I love that kind of gesture. It goes a long way. There's never normally enough crackle to go around at the family roast. Turns out that's a good thing. As I sat there nibbling away, unable to stop, thinking of my poor arteries, I realised that humans just aren't build with the willpower to face this amount of crackle. Crackle should be a rare treat, Mr Crackles makes it far too accessible. If you are a fan of all the foods you shouldn't eat like me you'll love Mr Crackles. Vegos need not apply.

Pork Crackling in a cup and spectacular onion rings - I'm in heaven. Busy late morning is a good sign that this place is good!! The rolls we saw go out looked great!!

Emm..... What can I say? I wish I can move the whole thing with me when in leave sydney! Today 2 not hungry people want some lunch, but end up we had 2 sides n 2 rolls!? (Once again crazy me) First of all crispy cup! And sweet potato wedge! ( I miss u so much sweet potato fries) since I left America I didn't hv sweet potato fries for awhile! They cut the wedge perfect size! N the chill aioli, love love love but I would make it more chill n spicy in it, so my bf not a fan of sweet potato fires, he said it was not that impressive either but he had it all (WTF?) The roll of the month is duck roll! It's amazing! Just like hving Peking Duck pancake, but more meat version!!! Pork roll n crispy cup are usual awesome!

Think Bahn mi roll with crackling pork. We went here late on Thursday and the food was great and simple but very tasty! I can imagine even better after a few drinks. I went for the workers recommendation of the original and it was cracking :)

The hardest part about eating here is resisting the urge to stuff the classic pork roll into my face at speed. Possibly the best part of this place is using crackling instead of Fries. It's genius

Ditch that kebab after a few beers, and head here instead. This place is the take-out sister to Thirsty Bird in the cross. If you've been there, you'll kinda know what to expect. Don't look at the menu, just grab a Pork Roll. Chips aren't required.

I've been to most of Asia recently and even with all the BBQ pork belly and etc etc tbis place has THE best pork belly ive ever had in my life IN THE WORLD. it's my official pork belly. the skin is insane crispy but the meat is tender without being all fat. you know what they are doing just by the bread alone. the exterior is insane crunchy but inside is like silk. order: at counter dress: very casual

I have to say that this place is great. After a round of drinks, a crackles classic hits the spot before you move to the next place for drinks. You can get a soft bun to make it easier to eat but the crispy bread reminds me of vietnamese banhmis so I chose that. The only thing I would have requested was to put less mayo. The pork fat and skin was already unhealthy and tasty. The mayo just is a good addition if they didn't put that much...

This place is so under rated, smooth kickback vibe until there's an explosion of flavor with ANYTHING you order. You can't beat it for a quick sandwich. Get the Sweet Pork roll, trust me you won't regret it

Only place to go if you're like and love a little crackle! Really nice food and friendly staff! Be warned though it is a busy place but that's to be expected as with any good food outlet!

So it's my first time in Sydney, Australia and I decided to walk around and see what's near my hotel. The usual places are here like pie face, Asian restaurants, and pizza. But I came across this hole in a wall place that has a sign called "Mr crackles" I decided to check it out since these are the type of places I enjoy going too! The guy there recommended me to get the classic. The best way I can describe this sandwich is that it's a Vietnamese type sandwich with pork on top or something similar to a Filipino dish called "lechon kawali ". Best combination I must I also ordered the Bbq sticky fries which pretty much is like brisket on top of fries. Be mindful that it is a hole in the wall so limited seats should be expected I would definitely recommend this place to friends and family or to any foodies out there.

This place has massive and extremely delicious sandwiches. Each one is about a foot long, filled with various meat options (pork, chicken, lamb - and there is a vego option). The rolls cost $13.50, and sides are extra. You can also buy pork and lamb by the kilo. The sandwiches really fill you up, but you won't want to stop eating because they're so tasty. You can find this place on the main drag of Oxford Street, making it a popular weekend night option for people going out in the area. It is not a bad option for food before hitting up any of the Darlinghurst/Surry Hills nightlife, or even as a late-night snack (a massive snack) after going out. My only complaints are that there aren't many options (5 or so), seating is minimal and the wait to order can be long on a weekend night (15+ minutes), but then the sandwiches are made fairly quickly. None of that was enough to dissuade me to go back. The delicious sandwiches won me over!

Delicious! The buffalo wings are spicy and tasty, and they are actually wings. The blue cheese sauce is a worthy accompaniment at a mere $1. The classic pork roll is generous and filling, and the crackling is suitably crunchy. A couple of suggestions for improvement... 1. While the tall benches are handy to stand at, they need commensurately high stools to sit on. 2. As the food is so decancantly sticky, those KFC-style wet wipes would be well received.

A tiny shop front offering huge flavor. Monstrous sheets of perfectly cooked pork crackling on display just waiting to be taken home. I took two friends with me to add some variety and share the food. I purchased the BBQ pulled pork nacho fries and I was beyond impressed. The fries were shoestring cut, salted heavily, and layered underneath a big helping of pulled pork in a gorgeous smokey sauce. Topped with shallots, the perfect blend of salty/sweet and crunchy/soft had been piqued. The menu is small but I'd call it refined. I've spoken a lot about how divine the food is but there is only a 4/5 for the rating. This is for price. I'd imagine for a city shop front, this is a regularly expected average. Maybe so but that doesn't make it cheap. Any and all lovers of barbeque, American style; if you haven't been yet, you're only hurting yourself =).

If you want to get your sodium and cholesterol overload, this is definitely the spot! I'm not sure if it was only my "crackles" (AUD$5) but they were super salty. But the pork crackles lived up to it's name, I felt my teeth would become crackles afterwards. Couldn't finish it, had a few bites, but I hope a few birds came across the leftovers and enjoyed them. Would be great if it wasn't overly salty, but I will return to try the Hot dogs instead.

Great char siu pork belly -- tender, sweet and well-portioned. For $13.50, this is definitely a solid sandwich similar to traditional Vietnamese banh mi. The roll was paired with carrots, lettuce and an Asian version of mayonnaise. I stopped by late at night and, after some debating, was quickly sold by the cashier on trying char siu ("better than the sweet pork in my opinion"). Not entirely the best I've had, since I am a local to NYC Chinatown, but still worth a visit! Seating here is sparse and lines form quickly so I'd recommend walking a block away down Oxford Street to Taylor Square.

Got into Sydney late night and managed to dodge a partyers and drunkards to get here. We shared an order of tater tots (which were disappointingly soggy) and the the sweet BBQ sandwich with onion rings, heaping amts of pork, some shredded cabbage which was tasty but on the tad salty side. I can definitely see how this would taste amazing as a late night snack on a night out but not really something I would want for dinner. No seating and if you stand around for too long you'll be subjected to pan-handling.

Yum. I can't describe this in many more words. Just yum. I went here a while ago and it was all so delicious and amazing. I highly recommend this. Prices are good, quality is high and food is superb. Seriously! Go here!

Mr Crackles is the type of place that makes you contemplate going to the gym the next day. The difference is you'll still think it was worth it regardless! Venue Pretty much a hole in the wall, they have a few seats in form of bar-chairs against the wall. This place is open till late and is at that hour the final (?) destination for many post-barhoppers. The waiting time can be quite long at night - still worth it though. Sneaky tip: You can order Mr Crackles from the bar Bitter Phew a couple of meters down, in case you wanted proper seating and a beer with that. Food Pork is of course key here, and the chef really knows what he's doing. I personally doubt any roll on the menu can be better than the sweet pork roll - only because that sweet pork roll is outstanding. The fries are also one of a kind; topped with chicken salt (yes that's a thing) they are, hands down, the best fries I've had in my life. Don't be deceived by the size of the fries box - they fill them up so much that eating it becomes a game of Jenga. They do salads and vegetarian options as well! My only question is why they haven't opened a second joint already?

So I finally got to try Mr. Crackles after hearing all of the hype and for me it didn't stack up. I got the classic roll and the pork on it was incredible. Succulent chunks of pork with amazingly crispy crackling - some of the best I've had. The salad and bread were also pretty good. But the problem I had is that the thing was so hard to eat. I either got a piece of bread and salad or a piece of pork. Rarely both at the same time as if I tried to get pork and bread, I'd have the biggest mouth full of food in history. It sort of reminded me of one of those burgers you see where you need a knife and fork to eat it. Not good. That said, if you've got a mouth the size of the Kiama blowhole, you'll love this sandwich. For those with standard sized mouths, you might frustrated with it and instead be left simply enjoying chunks of pork on their own (which isn't the worst thing in the world)

If you want to eat some awesomely dirty, fatty, junk food, you gotta get Mr. Crackles. Go for the Bogan and thank me when you're done. It's the pork cracklin with chips, gravy, and cheese on a soft bun. The Sweet Pork was really good too. So get drunk and head over.

One of the best crispy pork in Sydney for sure. A little on the expensive side though. I had large salad with crispy pork for $17. Only 1/5 of the container was filled with pork. So that's not value for money. Especially for lunch. Will I come back? Maybe but not in a near medium term

Ah....crispy goodness. People talk about how they like coming here after they've had a few drinks, but I have been sober and there's no denying it: these rolls rock. I have never tried anything else, but will still say that the Mr Crackles Classic is the way to go: the most amazing bread stuffed with Vietnamese salad and perfect crispy pork-belly that you just can't get enough of. If you're feeling ravenous and you've got company, order the chilli fries on the side as they're pretty mind blowing too. The place is small, so if you go at peak times, you probably won't get a seat, but can always grab take-away. Your arteries won't be too happy, but your taste buds will thank you for a long long time.
