Mr Vinyl

Visiting from Dubai. Had a Sunday to myself and this place came highly recommended. From a friend who is into vinyl and also by Rodney of the Listening Room in Cape Town. Great recommendation. Humongous selection. I went through each one of the the Rock - from A to Z and picked up I think 14 or 15 vinyl. Quite a large selection though some artists were completely missing (used) -Eric Clapton, Rory Gallagher, Savoy Brown, Velvet Underground and I think Fleetwood Mac (they did have the Blues Jam at Chess. But I guess in the used business you can’t control beyond a certain level of what you end up stocking. Everyone was polite though not the most helpful. There is no cell phone coverage inside the shop. I asked for Wi-Fi and repeatedly was told not possible. I had two phones on roaming and tried them on different providers but nothing worked. My friend who is a local tried to hotspot me but he didn’t have coverage either- if the shop knows that there is no cell phone coverage I think it is only in the spirit of customer service that they provide WiFi. I didn’t end up buying a few things because couldn’t reach my Discogs collection to check if AI already have them. A simple WiFi connection could have ended up on more sales for them and more vinyl for me.

Good service from Khanya. I took some good quality records to sell to them. He gave me a good price. Good to keep the vinyl in circulation because they were just sitting in my house. I am sure they will make a lot of money from what I sold to them.

Wonderful place to hang out, listen to music, discover new vinyls, used or new. Staff is friendly and helpful. Highly recommended and certainly my favourite place for vinyl records and accessories. I’d give them 6 stars if I could.

Wonderful shop for new and used Vinyl.

Local is lekker…that hasn’t changed even though we have been living in Scotland for five years now. And our favourite thing to do is fill our house with music we grew up on…it’s amazing to see our Scottish babies tapping their little feet to something so very South African. So when my partner asked me for a Shortstraw vinyl for his birthday I was more than happy to oblige. Mr Vinyl was profession start to finished…I placed my order, made my payment and had my delivery less than a week later. I was really impressed. Well done to them and their team.
