Where to Get the Best Brunch in Puerto Rico | Condé Nast Traveler

"Mrs. Potts' cheery décor hearkens to the halcyon days of childhood tea parties, with walls adorned with festive red-and-white stripes and oversized red roses. A sparkly chandelier reminds patrons that they're all grown-up, while the aroma of fresh-baked bread and pastries wafting from cooling racks drives home the forte of chef Kathryn Keohane. Like the "Beauty and the Beast" Disney character for whom it's named, this daytime-only restaurant prides itself on gentle nurturing." - Kathleen Squires

Wow!! We have traveled around Puerto Rico for the past two weeks, trying different restaurants, and this place is awesome! This is our last day here, it makes me a little sad that I won't get a chance to come back and try more of their menu items. The food was absolutely delicious, and the service is just as good. What a cool and different concept with an unreal execution. The food, the atmosphere, everything was on point!

The food in this place is other level! The service is incredible and they have art on display for sale from local artists. Definitely a unique experience and hats off to the chef for the incredible menu. Been going here for years and will keep going. Thank you

The food was good! The wait for the food was really long but that’s understandable since the restaurant was full. One thing I wanted to comment was that our particular waitress was not pleasant. I’ve been a waitress and currently work in the service industry so I know how frustrating the job can be. But this girl did a horrible job at managing what I assume is her stress. My friend requested some modifications to her meal (she’s vegan) and the waitress rudely told her she couldn’t adjust the order and her tone was condescending throughout. She did a reaaaaaallly bad job at accommodating us. This is all from my point of view as someone with years of experience waiting tables and working in the service industry. So the food was good but the service was just unnecessarily rude and annoying.

Mrs. Potts Bistro had great food and superb customer service. The workers were professional, friendly, and prompt. I went on Sunday around 11 am and there was a line. Smaller parties may be seated together at a large table. I had the lox sandwich with the fries. The fries had too much rosemary but the flavor was good. Cons are: little parking, no A/C in the bathroom (which is tiny), and the bathroom had watered down soap...the soap dispenser didnt work. On the positive note they had hand sanitizer outside the door. The price is a little high in my opinion but not by too much. If I go again I will try a different day and time in hopes to avoid the crowd.

My experience with Mrs. potts was bittersweet on the sunday brunch. Its a very small, hip looking place that serves quality food with fresh ingredients that also doubles as a bakery; the sourdough we bought was delish. So we were 3 and a baby and the wait time was 40min-60min and we were fine with the wait time as we had heard it got pretty busy. After the hour we routinely checked on what turn we were and at one point we knew we were next in line. Nonetheless, our turn was skipped by 6 two person tables all which had turns AFTER us. We talked to the hostess several times and all she said was that all the turns available were only for two person table (which was a lie because when we got there out of the 12 or so tables that we saw only 2 were two seaters and most of them were 4 seaters). All three of us and our baby were outside waiting in the hot day for 2 hours and 30 minutes to get seated and I was furious. When we finally got seated after talking to what we assume was a manager I was already having a terrible day. But here comes the sweet part...many of the staff apologized for the wait time several times, the service was great as 2-3 staff were constantly keeping our needs met, the food was fresh, hot & very good. They served some pretty creative dishes that make me want to come back. Also, half way during our stay they served some risotto croquettes on the house to apologize for the wait. Needless to say, my terrible day had been flipped upside down and I started to enjoy my afternoon brunch. We ended up having several more drinks, 2 giant deserts and as mentioned before buying sourdough bread. Negative : the hostess was TERRIBLE at her job organizing & prioritizing and had a bad actitud before and after we talked to who we assumed was a manager and a staff member my wife knew. I think they made a mistake that day and assume it doesn't happen all that often. Positive : the staff was very attentive, very apologetic, food was great and everyone made their part in mending our understandably bad experience. The brunch food was delish and can't wait to come back and try other dishes. Also, my wife says the coffee is amazing here. I'll give it 3 stars for my first visit but can't wait to come back again and give Mrs. Pott a fresh start.

Good food; creative recipes. Many choices. They have desserts and different kinds of breads to take home with you. Sadly, service was a little disorganized, which meant food will took a long time to arrive. I suggest you have a light breakfast before getting brunch here; it could take a while between arriving there and actually getting your food. (This experience: more than an hour and a half) The place gets really crowded. I would recommend to get there early. Parking was a bit troublesome, not much space near the restaurant.

This place is our new spot for brunch! Food is perfectly made with great ingredients and beautiful presentation! Very cozy home feeling and our waitress was so kind in helping us choose.... we literally had a food coma afterwards!

Yelp
Not sure if this review is actually the 5 stars that I am giving it or a 1 star for their pricing or just taking advantage of someone who isn't a local. I really thought that it was a great little place that I had found while vacationing in Puerto Rico. It seems that they were once at another location and had relocated to where they are now. I want to say that it has a nightclub (speakeasy) vibe which it may be at night and seconds as an eclectic brunch restaurant during the day. I only counted about 8 or 9 tables plus they have a bar which I guess you can sit at. Parking is very limited to a few spaces right in front, not sure where you would park when those are filled. Also it stated bake shop in the name which led me to believe that I would find some delicious breads and pasties but they only were making the breakfast that they used for their meals. ie: sourdough and ciabatta. So here are details, the ambiance was fun with the dark speakeasy vibe. The food was amazing, we started with standard orange juice mimosas although they offer several different types. We then ordered 2 very different eggs Benedict dishes. One which was on the menu with sweet and spicy bacon which came on sourdough and was delicious, although definitely an emphasis on spicy. And the second was one that was called out as a special that could be made with chicken, filet mignon, and a couple other options. I chose the filet mignon eggs Benedict which was served on ciabatta as I had never seen that on a menu before. After ordering I was afraid that I would get an entire steak but was very happy to see that it just looked like 2 filet medallions on each piece of bread with the egg on top. The filet was cooked perfectly, i was able to cut it like butter and it was tender, lean, and delicious. One of the best Benedict's I have ever eaten. Now the part where they should only receive one star. We finished the meal and received the check and every thing that we ordered was reasonably priced except the filet mignon eggs Benedict was 64 dollars which was outrageous for even a full filet steak meal. You would think that with all the meals in the 20 to 25 dollar range if the server offered you something that was 64 dollars they would tell you. I'll take the hit on this as I never asked the price for the special. But beware, good food but definitely some games being played with the pricing.

Yelp
