I recently stayed at Mrs Potts, and it was everything I could have hoped for and more! From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed by the friendly and attentive staff, who went out of their way to ensure my stay was comfortable. The atmosphere here is warm and inviting, making it easy to feel right at home. The rooms are spotless, well-decorated, and thoughtfully furnished, providing all the amenities needed for a relaxing stay. The attention to detail in the décor added a lovely touch, creating a cozy environment perfect for unwinding. I especially appreciated the comfortable bed and the quiet surroundings, which made for restful nights. The location is ideal, with plenty of great spots to explore nearby. Whether you're interested in local attractions or just want a quiet place to relax, Mrs Potts has it all. I even met some wonderful fellow travelers, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Overall, I would highly recommend Mrs Potts to anyone looking for a memorable, welcoming, and perfectly managed place to stay. I had an outstanding experience and will definitely be returning!

I recently stayed at Mrs Potts Hostel in Cardiff on Saturday, 2 November. Although my initial experience was marred by bed bug bites, I’ve since been in contact with the owners, who were responsive, refunded my stay, and assured me they’re actively working with professional services to resolve the issue. It sounds like they’re taking this seriously, which I appreciate, as I’m sure managing an issue like this in a busy hostel must be challenging. On a positive note, the hostel itself has a great location on the main strip of Cardiff, yet my room was at the back, so the Saturday night noise didn’t reach me. The setup of the 4-bed dorm was also comfortable and private, with each bed having its own curtain, light, and power outlet, which made for a nice touch in terms of privacy. Overall, while I had an unfortunate experience, I’m hopeful the issue is being addressed for future guests, as it’s clear the owners are working to provide a clean, welcoming space.

WARNING This place is beyond bleek. A horror story in itself. You walk in and not a breeze of air through the place. Stuffy like a rainforest. They need to either crack open the windows 24/7 or invest in some air conditioning. Funny enough the "owner" only replies to good reviews on here....they're ignorant and have no intent on improving the customer experience. There's people who live there by the looks of it cause they don't work there but hang around during the day and night. It's advertised as a homeless hostel. I also read that prisoners come here to stay when released. I didn't end up sleeping or staying here cause I walked up the stairs to my room, and same issue upstairs. Stuffy. Suffocating environment. And there was a weird chemical and musty smell. It was horrid and disgusting. I thought sure ill just use the toilet then leave quietly. I took one peep into the shower/toilet area and was disgusted. The smell...the look of the place it's all revolting I almost vomited. Budget hostel or no budget hostel, there needs to be a standard of hygiene and cleanliness to welcome guests. The door to the room wasn't even locked with I arrived. I went to put in the code they gave me and pressed 1 button and the door flew open. No safety or security. I wasted my time here. When I left to go to a hotel instead I read the reviews for Mrs Potts ...my skin was crawling. I had goosebumps. My jaw dropped. There's an active bed bug infestation. The following day I walked down to Mrs Potts hostel to complain and to "check out". It was 10am and no one was at the desk. 2 other people were waiting in reception. They informed me they got bitten by bed bugs during their stay. I immediately felt sick and disgusted in the place. No standards. No welfare for their paying customers. This place should be shut down and demolished. Asap. Same issue in the morning when I walked into the place. The curtains at the window/seating area at reception were shut from the night before causing the place to be stuffier and hot and humid as the fay before. And the smell was also horrendous. Don't stay here unless you want to get bed bug bites and unless you have a strong stomach 🤢 The most horrific hostel and I can be confident to say it is the worst hostel in all of UK if not, the world.

DO NOT STAY HERE! My daughter stayed at this hostel in Cardiff on the 31st December. When she left the next day, she discovered upon returning home that she'd accidentally left an expensive dress behind. She tried contacting the hostel by email and by phone on the 2nd January and could get no reply. She carried on trying, calling and emailing multiple times, and eventually got a reply on the 5th. The gentleman working went to the room while she remained on the telephone and found the red dress, and said it would be kept until my daughter could get back to Cardiff to collect it. The room had not been cleaned for five days. My daughter said she couldn't collect it for at least a couple of days as she wasn't anywhere near Cardiff, and a friend that lives down there was away. Since then my daughter and her friend have visited the hostel to collect the dress on four separate occasions. The first time there was no one at reception for the twenty minutes she waited, she was however harassed by people staying there, the second time there was a lady working who said she knew nothing about it, on the third occasion there was a different man who again said he didn't know where it was, and on the fourth occasion they were told it had been lost, that they would look for it and make contact. I have phoned since to be told that items are not kept for more than a day and that it has been disposed of. I am absolutely appalled that this has happened. This was an expensive dress that I myself bought for her. I appreciate that she should not have left it behind, but accidents do happen, and my daughter was assured it was safe until she or her friend could get there to collect it. I stressed to the gentleman on the phone tonight that she was repeatedly told that she could collect it and that it should not have been disposed of. I asked how this situation could now be corrected, and was told it could not. I asked to speak to the owner of the establishment and was directed to their email address. I have received an incredibly rude reply. Terrible customer service and not clean. There are far better hostels in the city centre of Cardiff.

I came here yesterday, without really knowing that the room was gonna be shared with 6 more women, which was not previously indicated on the page. Also, there are bed bugs, and the cleaning conditions are shitty. I told the receptionist I wanted a refund of my money and she finally accepted, but got very aggressive and rude to me. I do not recommend this place at all, the only good thing is the location.

It's a nice place, I met lots of lovely people and a very lovely tourist Lady who was so good to me, I learned a lot from her. They have amazing staff, especially the lady at the reception, 'Ishiah' I guess, and the Indian guy, I didn't feel like I'm new, and the cost is very reasonable. I got to make my own meals some times, there's discipline in the kitchen. Then I saw the reviews, I almost got scared, though I never experienced the bugs, then I enquire about it. But I was told that they disinfected the rooms, and cleaned up real good, Honestly it's better and very peaceful, Not luxurious but neat and lovely place. No eating in the room to avoid attracting insects, but some people are still stubborn. Asides that, I'd recommend anyone, students or tourists who wants a place to land and start averagely to consider this Mrs Potts. Thanks guys for making my stay smooth and peaceful.

This was the worst hostel I have ever stayed at. Absolutely dilapidated and filthy property, rooms, and beds. Unhygienic, unsafe, and no security for your belongings or person. Unclean bedding and rooms filled with stale air. Plumbing not working. Particularly unsafe for women with the type of men hanging around. More of a halfway house than a hostel. Stay away at all costs.
