Yelp
I want to touch on both the positive and not so positive aspects of this B&B.
First, this isn't a historical building; it's a freestanding home off of Sharon Amity Road and the proprietors live in a portion of the house itself. This isn't a negative, but should be noted, as I found it inappropriate to hear the family talking loudly in the living room from our room past 11 p.m.
The troubling thing is we weren't given a key to lock our private room. Don't get me wrong, it's not that I didn't trust the innkeepers, but there is a sense of comfort in being able to lock up your personal belongings, especially with other guests in residence. We're pretty trusting folks, but this was off-putting and definitely would be a deal-breaker for some!
I'm detail oriented and have to mention the bathroom towels. They smelled fresh, but were tattered and worn, with pulls. Though this may seem trivial to some, it shows a lack of care for me. The strings could have easily been snipped off with scissors, and they would have looked fine.
I'll wrap up on several positive notes. Ms. Elsie's is a unique, Caribbean-themed B&B. The whole place is very clean. Our room, the Bamboo, was spacious but cozy. The common areas are nice, including the pool area out back, with multiple, comfy seating areas, sun umbrellas, and chaise lounges. Fun fact: there's a karaoke machine set up in the den!
This is a sweet place and Cheryl is a thoughtful, charming innkeeper. Nonetheless, in my opinion, there are a few things that need some tweaking.
