The Museum of Art in Łódź is the youngest branch of the oldest museum dedicated to presenting modern art in Poland. Opened in 1930, it houses a collection of 20th- and 21st-century world art. Its core is the International Collection of Modern Art of the "a.r." group, first opened to the public in 1931. The institution also houses collections of early art dating back to 1918, primarily Polish 19th-century art and decorative arts related to the interior design of Łódź's industrial estates. The institution has three branches: MS1 (main building), MS2 (branch), and the Herbst Palace Museum (historical house).
MS2 opened to the public as a branch of the Museum of Art in Łódź in 2008 and is housed in a post-industrial 19th-century weaving mill building on the site of a former factory owned by Izrael Poznański, now the Manufaktura complex. It presents collections of 20th- and 21st-century art, as well as temporary exhibitions.
Temporary exhibitions are presented on the ground floor. Currently, visitors can view the exhibition "In the Eye of the Storm: Modernism in Ukraine" (June 27, 2025 – February 1, 2026).
Concurrently, work is underway on a new permanent exhibition, titled "Ways of Seeing," which will open on October 17, 2025. This exhibition will be the largest and most comprehensive presentation of the collection at the Museum of Art in Free entrance on Fridays!!
