This Small Lakeside Town Is Perfect for Fall Foliage Right Now — and It's a Quick Getaway From NYC

Ascending the slopes of Mount Baker feels like stepping into a living painting, where every breath is a sip of crisp, pine scented air and every glance unveils a canvas of snow draped peaks and emerald valleys. The trail winds like a silver ribbon through whispering evergreens, leading higher into the embrace of the mountain’s silent majesty. Sunlight dances across glacial faces, scattering shards of brilliance into eyes, while the distant roar of melting ice streams sings an ancient hymn of endurance. Each step is both a triumph and a surrender legs burn, heart races, yet the soul soars until the summit greets with a panorama so vast and unspoiled, it feels as though the earth itself has paused to let marvel at its glory.

Summitted on 8/10 via Easton Glacier route Started at 3.30 from Sandy camp area, spent at least 1h at the fuming crater (more impressive than the summit in my pov) and at summit by 10.00. Very few people on the mountain on a Sunday, saw ca 10-15 other people, had the summit to ourselves. What a view! Very slushy snow from beginning to end. Tip: If energy allows, do a little detour to have a look at Deming glacier on the way down. Stunning! Tip: If you are a female mountaineer and looking for a great way to summit and learn, the crew from upward transition institute is doing an incredible job up there!

Has always seen the glimpse of Mt Baker from the Vancouver side. With an adventurous heart, well here we are, after a 27km grind.

Mt Baker is so beautiful . it’s stunning! The mix of glaciers, alpine meadows, and rugged peaks makes it one of the most scenic spots in the Pacific Northwest.

The Chain Lakes Loop trail was beautiful in fall season. The trail was very popular, you'd better to go early in the morning to have a parking spot. Very recommended!

It is very beautiful but some parts of the trail are steep. If you have knee problems, it is not recommended. Be careful. Some rocks are slippery. Bring your foods. Before go on hiking. On the way up, there is a picnic area. You can stop by. pay for the parking.
