The Mt. Fuji Panoramic Ropeway is such a fun and scenic experience! The cable car ride takes you up to a viewpoint where, on a clear day, you get an incredible view of Mount Fuji. Unfortunately, it was super cloudy when I visited, so we didn’t get to see Fuji in all its glory but that’s just how Mother Nature works sometimes! At the top, there’s a small food and ice cream stand. I totally recommend grabbing some ice cream, especially if you’re visiting in June when it’s starting to get hot. There’s also a swing you can ride for a small fee (I believe it was around 500 yen) a fun little bonus if you're into unique photo ops. If you keep walking past the main viewing area, there’s a higher spot that gives you even better views and more photo opportunities. Just be careful it gets pretty steep and hilly, and if you’re not paying attention, it’s easy to slip or lose your footing. Overall, even though I didn’t get the perfect view of Mount Fuji, the experience was still really cute and enjoyable. Definitely worth a visit!

Went here last November 2024. The ropeway is a quick ride but you’ll still get views of the lake and a better view of Mt. Fuji on top. Also caught sight of a deer!

Very nice view of Mt. Fuji here. You ride a cable car up and down (if you wish or you can hike or go one way). The system of riding is orderly and the props in the park are nice as foreground for a Mt. Fuji photo as background. Highly recommended visit if you are in the Lake Kawaguchi area.

I got lucky that Mount Fuji wasn't shy; I could see most of it clearly. The view of the lake from the top was also fantastic. One main drawback was the wait times. I spent over 30 minutes in line to go up and about 20 minutes to come back down. Also, because it was so busy, the cars were packed with people, similar to a rush hour subway in Tokyo. However, the views from the top were definitely worth the crowd and the wait. A quick tip: I'd suggest trying to go up closer to closing time. The lines were much shorter then, making the trip up and down a lot more convenient.

Very popular attraction I joined the queue at 9am and takes 20mins to reach the boarding point. Able to have a panoramic view area of the lake and mt Fuji although Mt Fuji peak is already covered with clouds by that timing. There are also shops selling souvenirs and food at the top. Nice view but prepare for long queue for the swing and almost everything on top.

The ropeway is open at 8.30am if possible try to reach before opening time to catch the first car to the peak to avoid the crowd. We are not that lucky on that day because Mt Fuji did not show up to say hello to us. The view is still great without Mt Fuji. Return tickets for adult is 1000 yen. Is just a very short ride to the peak 5 to 10 minutes. Worth the time and money.

A must do. Allow a couple of hours to walk the trails from the top of the lift. Option to only ride to the top and walk back to the village, Takes 20 minutes without stopping to soak in the view, DO STOP Mt Fuji is stunning from all angles.

A great way to enjoy breathtaking views of Mount Fuji and Lake Kawaguchi from above. The ropeway takes you up to an observation deck where you can admire the stunning scenery and take memorable photos. The ride itself is short but enjoyable, offering a smooth ascent with panoramic views. There are also a few small attractions and shops at the top. The round-trip ticket costs 1,000 yen as of March 2025 and the last ride is at 18:20. Be prepared for long queues, especially during peak seasons, as this is a very popular spot. Definitely in Japan, nothing is free, they even sell a ticket just to use a swing!

Yelp
We didn't get a full clear day to see Mr. Fuji but it was still worth it to take the ride about and get a full view of the lake below and some of the mountain, it's ¥100 for a round trip tickets & I believe ¥600 one way. The views are great for photography, they even have a few stages areas to take photos. There's a gift shop at the top and an area to ride a swing and take more photos in the direction of Mt. Fuji, I believe the swing cost ¥300. There's a trail to go hiking further up from what the swing area is, and a path to hike back down towards the lake area where you go on the ropeway. I didn't see a separate yelp page but the ropeway has a combo package with the Pleasure Boat that's a 20 minutes ride around the lake. The boat ride is ¥1000 or ¥1700 for the package. The boat has a heated covered room our outdoor deck & upper level deck.

Yelp
Hours 9:00am to 5:10pm (March through November) 9:30am to 4:40pm (December through February) Departures every five to ten minutes Admission: 800 yen (roundtrip), 450 yen (one way) We laughed when they offered us a one way ticket. But come to find out there are hiking trails you can take down the mountain to get back into town. The Kachi Kachi Ropeway is a tram that ascends Mount Tenjo where a short 10min ride drops you off on an observation area 1000 meters above sea level that provides panoramic views of Lake Kawaguchiko and Mt. Fuji. Great photo ops with the mountain and cute heart shaped statue for lovers. You feel really close to the volcano here. Here's the story behind the name from Japan guide: Mount Tenjo is the setting of Dazai Osamu's folk story "Kachi Kachi Yama", for which the ropeway is named, in which a rabbit gets revenge on a thieving tanuki (Japanese raccoon) by setting him on fire and drowning him in a river. Cute cartoon characters of the animals decorate the ropeway cars and observation point and are surprisingly kid friendly considering their gruesome background. There are souvenir shops, sweets, ice cream and vending machines at the top. Bring your camera and money. The tram gets a bit crowded with a steep incline so that's a warning for claustrophobics and acrophobics.

Yelp
If you want a good view of Mt. Fuji without the hassel of driving and climbing it, visit Panoramic Ropeway. Family and I took a bus to get there around the lake, we then took a ski lift up to the top. We went on a really nice day. The skies were clear and there many beautiful photo opportunities. The idea of this place is based on a fictional story. There is food here which is nice cause we were able to have a few snacks while enjoying the view.

Yelp
We were unlucky, because the day we went there was zero visibility of Fuji-san. Still, one must recognise the amazing location and possibilities, and feel a debt towards those who built this cable car for later generations to benefit. So, no ungrateful whining about the staff packing the cars full; have some sweet Japanese strawberries and take in the peace.

Yelp
Nice small (really small) ropeway at the "base of Mt. Fuji". You can perfectly combine a Ropeway ticket with the EXcursion boat and get one ride of the Ropeway for free. Ropeway cars are looking nice and well maintained. STaff is friendly. The car does need approx 5 minutes to go to the top of the small montain-/hill. I recommend to go down through the nice trail downhill by feet.

Yelp
Gorgeous, unobstructed views of Mt Fuji. The ropeway begins at the edge of Lake Kawaguchiko. Be aware that the ticket line and the line for the ropeway are separate. Have someone wait in line for the ropeway, and the other can run up to the ticket machines (or ticket booth if you have a group larger than 10 or 20 I believe). The machines offer Japanese, Chinese, and English menus. Climb some more stairs and get crammed (seriously) into a small ropeway car for a scenic ride up the side of the mountain for a quick 10-minute ride. Enjoy the views of Lake Kawaguchiko, and then at the top, you can enjoy Mt Fuji. There is a shop offering both souvenirs and some snacks like dango and matcha soft serve. There is also a second-floor observation deck on top of the store that many people don't seem to be aware of, so try to make your way up and you can easily get a photo with Mt Fuji without your fellow tourists wandering around and getting in your shot! There is also a small shrine dedicated to the legend of the raccoon and rabbit, which I don't remember the details of, but neat to check out. Walk past the store, and there is a trail leading to the top of the mountain (not Mt Fuji, the mountain where the viewing station is located) which takes about 6 hours to trek through if you plan it out well. Also important. Clean, modern toilets and no squat toilets!

Yelp
Objective: Located on the eastern side of the main road that encircles Kawaguchiko Lake, this ropeway ascends up Mount Tenjo to an observation deck that provides amazing views of Mount Fuji. The ride is less than 5 min (one-way); cost was about 720 yen for a round-trip. A small gift and snack stand is located at the observation deck. There are several available hiking trails from the observation desk to various points along Mount Tenjo (did not do them) Subjective: Would recommend going as close to opening time as possible. We went around 9:30 am and the wait was less than 10 min. The rush hour seems to start around 10-11 am with a wait at that time probably close to 45 min. For the relatively cheap price, this is a no-brainer if you have time in the area as the views of Mount Fuji are gorgeous. I would note that they seem to making renovations to the ticket office/waiting area. It is fairly cramped in the actual ticket office itself (see the photos from another reviewer). The staff did seem to be making a very concerted effort to help any elderly or people with disabilities be comfortable. Although the mascots are depicted as two cute, furry animals, the backstory (depicted in Japanese on the walls of the waiting area) is a little weird (no spoilers here). For the relatively cheap price, this is a no-brainer if you have time in the area as the views of Mount Fuji are gorgeous (see photo), but go early to avoid waiting.
