10 Ski Events That Make Winter Sports More Accessible for Everyone

"I learned that Open Slopes PDX began as a one-off BIPOC ski night at Mt. Hood Skibowl in 2021 and has since evolved into an organization that organizes ski and snowboard outings for BIPOC individuals, often providing equipment rentals, lift tickets, transportation, training, and dinner at zero cost while also creating job opportunities for mentors." - Matt Kirouac Matt Kirouac Matt Kirouac is a travel writer with a passion for national parks. Fantastic mountain resort! I got married here several years ago and recently came back. It was so much fun to ride the Alpine slide and hike around the mountain. It’s really beautiful here and there’s lots of activities in the summer. This is definitely a great affordable place to bring a family.

We had a fantastic day we got there when they opened and spent all day there we had a great time the only thing I could say is the tubes would be great if they had a pulley system to hook the tubes to and send them up to the top without having to use the conveyor belt . It is so hard to stand on and hold the tube going up. Hopefully they'll find a new system to get in the tubes to the top then standing on a rolling conveyor belt which is very hard for us older ones to stand on. It was a bit pricey you have to pay for some add-ons. The food and drinks were pretty spendy. Bring a lunch and something great cold to drink .Some of the employees were a little grumpy but for the most part they were all helpful. But all in all we had a great day

Had a full day here with the kids; great time. Save $10 per adventure pass if buy online. I paid day of for 5 of us: could have saved $50. Then I would have felt a much better value.

We enjoyed the half mile dual alpine slide! It was really fun and great for families. The slide was $29 a person (ski lift included). The views down were incredible, perfect view of Mt. Hood. There was a delicious food truck there as well (served quesadillas, burritos, tacos, chips/salsa/guac, lemonade etc ). The food truck prices were a little on the pricier side, but we were pleased with our selections and felt the food was high quality. We would come again!

Came here for a visit to enjoy a friends birthday and I have to say, beyond the views I was mighty unimpressed with the operation and quality of the activities being run. We did multiple activities including the toboggan, Indy cars, and batting cages. The Indy cars we were most excited about but was extremely poorly run. They were down to a single iPad for entering in “account information” which would disconnect frequently and massively hold up the lines. Also with folks rotating helmets left and right you were subject to a sweaty helmet straight from the head of another patron to yours. Would have loved some level of sanitation or head cover in between. It felt disorganized and frantic getting people through. Then there was the batting cages which honestly were a sad excuse for what a cage should be. For one, as expressed in many other reviews there simply aren’t enough bats. There’s one single adult sized bat there split across say 6 different cages which as you can imagine creates quite the bottleneck when trying to participate. Also the majority of the helmets are either falling apart or way too big. Just gave the feeling of knowing it’s a problem and not wanting to fix it. Expect a wait if you’re looking to get more than a couple swings in, or a bent children’s bat for that matter. Lastly was just the general things like empty hand sanitizers, no paper towels in the men’s bathroom, things that aren’t that major but just add up when you see it consistently across multiple areas. Especially for the price you pay for a pass, it just didn’t seem accounted for. I enjoyed time friends but would by no means recommend or rush back to this summer activity as it is simply not worth the drive out from Portland.

We went there this summer for the alpine slides and the double ski lift to the top. The view is amazing and the kids really enjoy the Alpine Slide

Very beautiful place, not super crowded when I went in September. The indy carts are a must do! They have a lift you can ride to get to the top of the hill where you then get in line for the indy carts to ride down the hill with someone. There is a skyline walk through where you get strapped to a line and walk a course high up in the air. (about 20-25 feet min.) During the winter they do tubing down the hill on the mountain which is so much fun but u would recommend a truck with 4 wheel drive if you go.
