MTDC Karla

The resort is very old. Booked AC cottage room, But tiles in the rooms are not even fitted properly. Electric shock in the tabs of water. The switches and water tabs needs to be replaced. The rooms needs renovation like MTDC Malshej Ghat. Cleanliness is zero.The boating facility is closed. The location is good. If the government wants to run this resort properly, it needs proper maintenance and a good team to look after the resort.

Resort is not maintained properly or rather in pathetic condition. The special deluxe suite doesn’t seams to be special. There only good part is the greenery in and around the resort. The Indrayani restaurant located inside the resort is highly expensive without any ambiance, pathetic service and below average food. They charge Rs. 350 per person for water park which later got negotiated to Rs. 300 per person. I doubt about actual charges set by MTDC. Better to avoid this place.

Disappointing Stay at MTDC Karla Resort My recent stay at MTDC Karla Resort was underwhelming and did not justify the cost. While the staff was responsive and the service was good, the overall experience was disappointing due to various shortcomings. Key Issues: ❌ Not Worth the Charges – The accommodation is overpriced for the level of service and amenities provided. The overall experience does not match the cost, making it a poor value-for-money option. ❌ No Intercom in Rooms – Although a contact number was available, the absence of an intercom system in the rooms made it inconvenient to reach the staff when needed. ❌ Poor Maintenance & Ambience – The property is not well-maintained, with outdated facilities and an uninviting atmosphere. It does not provide the comfort and relaxation expected from a resort. ❌ Limited Facilities & Amenities – Basic facilities that should be standard in any decent hotel are either missing or not up to the mark. Cleanliness and upkeep were below expectations. Positive Aspects: ✔ Adequate Staff & Acceptable Service – Despite the other shortcomings, the staff was attentive and responsive, and the service was satisfactory. ✔ Easily Accessible Location – The resort is located in a convenient area, making it easy to find. Final Verdict: While the staff and service were quite good, the lack of essential amenities, poor maintenance, and high pricing make MTDC Karla Resort an underwhelming choice. The location is easy to find, but given the overall experience, I strongly recommend booking another accommodation for a better stay. If you've found a better hotel or resort, please share your experience to help others make an informed decision. Would I stay here again? Unlikely.

Pros:I) Low Crowd and all the slides and Pools are functional. 2) Changing Room clean and also shower and locker facilities also available. But you have to early bird to avail the locker facilities.

We stayed here during the last week of Dec 2024. I had booked a Non AC special suite which accommodates 4 people. There were two rooms inside the suite with attached bathrooms for both of them. The bathroom were very clean. The suite is very old but quite well maintained. However, some problems like the fan's regulator, electric geyser in one of the bathroom were not working well. This suite costs 3500+taxes per day which for 4 people is quite a good deal. So, it is great value for money according to me. The restaurant is also well maintained and the food is good. The complimentary breakfast was OK with two Veg options and one Egg option with Tea and Coffee. Some of the staff are very unwelcoming if not rude, but some people especially in the restaurant are very good. We stayed for two days and surprisingly for the second day no one came to clean the room before we left for sightseeing at 11AM. When I went and asked at the reception for fresh towels the person was perplexed that they had not given them already and looked at me as though I was lying. He told me that they will give us the towels at 8AM the next day but we never got them. Except for these small issues, the place is great for stay, the inside of the resort is also filled with greenery which is very pleasant.

Friendly atmosphere, full of soothing greenery and good food. Generally the rooms lack maintenance, furniture, toilets in bad condition. Needs improvement.

We checked into the MTDC Karla resort special AC suite and was shocked to see the condition of the rooms. The room conditions are horrible. Torn bedsheets, cockroaches everywhere, spiders, ants, wall paint peeling off, smell in the rooms. We had reservation for 3 nights but due to the filthy condition of the resort, we had to check out the next day because of the unhealthy resort environment, which posed a health hazard. Even the kitchen is in deplorable condition and has no upkeep or maintenance. There are cockroaches everywhere. When we complained to the MTDC reservation office they did not take any actions. It is sad to see the condition of hotels of the Maharashtra department of tourism.

1. Rooms are clean but orthodox govt quarter style. They have new modern lifestyle rooms coming up but limited and will gradually replace other cottages. 2. Food at restaurant is above average but not that bad 3. Water park is good. Water can be more clean 4. Best thing is the location. Go for it. Serene calm peaceful 5. Kids will like it 6. Lonavala and mapro garden is 15 mins drive and so are karla caves.
