MTDC Karla

Had a very pleasant stay at MTDC Resort, Karla. The location is beautiful with lots of greenery and a very pleasant climate, perfect for a peaceful getaway. The restaurant serves good food and the service throughout the resort was excellent. The staff are friendly, polite, and very helpful, which made the stay even more comfortable. I am very happy with my experience and will surely recommend this resort to my friends and relatives. Will definitely return again!

The place is nice, clean (except for rooms). The atmosphere inside the campus is relaxing. You can take a stroll inside under the trees upon foliage. You can hear birds chirping. The food is also good. The staff is helpful. Lots of space inside for parking. You can park almost in front of or beside your room. It is safe inside. It is near other places worth visiting. Good connectivity. Can come here from Lonavla railway station or bus-stand. Overall, it is a good place for spending time leisurely.

Book Premium Suite. It is the best room, better say a cottage with 2 big size bed rooms, 1 large, really large hall that has 5 seater sofa, work/study table, 4 seater wonderful dining table. Both Bed rooms and Hall have ACs. The beds in bed rooms are King Size where not 2 but 3 adults can sleep. There are 2 extra mattresses are also readily available in Hall. Both bed rooms have attached bathrooms with geaser attached. Bathrooms are pretty big with all Jaquar Plaumbing materials. A Family of 6 or 8 also can be accommodated in this Premium Suite. And rate is just 5300/- per night. Breakfast is Complimentary with Premium Suite. At this rate such a good property is not possible anywhere in India.

I recently stayed at MTDC Karla, and unfortunately, it was a major letdown. What could be a beautiful getaway is now a neglected property that is desperately in need of renovation. Property Maintenance: The overall maintenance is extremely low. The cottages are in a broken state with damp walls, peeling paint, and broken fixtures. It feels like the property has been abandoned for years. The bathrooms were in terrible condition—unhygienic, poorly lit, and with leaky plumbing. It was very uncomfortable to use. One of the main reasons people visit is for the lake activities, but the boating has been stopped for two years now. This was very misleading as it’s still often cited as a feature of the resort. I felt a significant safety concern during the night. The property is poorly lit, and there is a lack of visible security personnel, making it feel very isolated and unsafe for families or solo travelers. Unless MTDC carries out a complete overhaul and upgrades their security, I would not recommend staying here. There are much better private options available nearby.

MTDC Karla is a large property located in Lonavala. It has an in-house water park exclusively for guests staying on the premises, with subsidised rates. For visitors coming only for the water park, the charges are different. The property offers multiple room categories, including some newly constructed ones. These newer rooms are quite good, though they are on the higher side in terms of tariff, approximately around ₹8,000. There is an in-house restaurant, and food can also be ordered via Swiggy and Zomato. We ordered from McDonald’s, and the delivery was made directly to the property without any issues. Breakfast is complimentary and was quite good. Ample parking space is available, the rooms are clean and well-maintained, and there is also a river adjoining the property, which adds to the overall experience.

Rooms in bad conditions but it's manageable. Deluxe cottages are newly built so prefer that while booking. Service & restaurant is good enough for breakfast & lunch/dinner. Premises are huge and recommended if you have children along.

It's an old resort which government managed, so the facilities and rooms are like 1 or 2 star hotel. The location and nature is great here. Ample parking, good for events as well.

The room conditions are much better after the recent renovations. It's an ideal place for a quiet getaway when you want to do nothing, but bond with your dear ones. Food options at their restaurant is decent and fairly priced... unlike many other holiday places.
