We stayed at Mtentu Lodge in the quieter December period before the festive season in one of the rustic cabins, which was sufficient for a family of four. Cannot comment on what the lodge is like when very busy, from some negative comments I have read, it is preferable to go when we did. The food was plentiful and the views spectacular. The hosts, Ben and Joe, were welcoming and friendly and cared to our needs and they really made our stay. They arranged earlier mealtimes for our young kids, and excursions on kayaks and across the river to the beach as our kids were too small to swim across. The road is quite hectic, recommend a high clearance 4x4 in the rainy season. Potential guests must understand that this is the Wild Coast and adjust their expectations as such, if you want a 5 star en suite bathroom then this is not for you, but you will miss the beautiful, unspoilt scenery, empty beaches and outdoor shower with a view to die for. We will definitely be back!
