On the Grid : Gelataria mú

"Genuine italian gelatto by genuine italians, that help give it its homely ambience. It also helps that they use season fruit and organic ingredients in most of what they sell. And they made the local tradition of expresso even better by joining a small ball of ice cream to it." - Nelson Vassalo

Really nice gelato. Lots of people talk about the sugar free flavours but they only had one (papaya) when we were there. Pistachio, coffee, and macadamia (unique!) were great. They’re very strict on only allowing two samples per person, so pick wisely. Service could be friendlier.

Easy to miss when you walk by, but do yourself the favor and walk in. Their gelato is absolutely amazing, highly recommend.

I was very impressed with Mú Gelato: the place, the staff, and especially the ice cream! I tried three flavors, and if you're visiting this time of year, I highly recommend the Panettone flavour. It was fantastic and truly captured the essence of Panettone. The ice cream itself was incredibly creamy, not overly sweet (just the way I like it), and the flavours tasted very natural. I also ordered the pistachio, and you can tell from the colour that no artificial food colouring was used. Leandro was very welcoming and helpful, which made the experience even better. They also have vegan options, which is a great bonus. I will definitely be visiting again soon!

Amazing Gelateria 🤩 some of the best ice cream I’ve ever had here in Lisbon. Definitely a must try and such interesting flavours and very good classic flavours too - so there is something for everyone (can recommend trying the avocado lime ice cream, that was a very interesting taste 😝)

Google
Probably the slowest ice cream shop on the planet. Any other Lisbon Ice Cream Shop attend 5x as many people at the same time. Waiting now 15 minutes for a simple ice cream order, AFTER standing in line... At Nanarella etc. you stand in line, receive your order and you are good. Here? 🙄 Ice cream is amazing. Staff a disaster 🐌 After 15 minutes I asked for my money back. I hope next time the staff is more accommodating. 15:30 on July 9th both were a disaster. Sadly.

Yelp
Very delicious gelato! A clean store with good customer service. We tried many of the flavors but my favorite was the limone and mango. You can taste the flavors of the fruit. Very refreshing!

Yelp
My favorite gelato during my time in Lisboa! My friends and I would get gelato like every other day in Portugal and this was my favorite in Lisboa! Ordering gelato is different than in America. You tell them the size you want, pay, then they will let you have samples before deciding what flavors you finally want. I really loved the flavors offered here. I decided on Greek yogurt and almond flavors in a cone. The texture was creamy with a subtle flavor which is how I like my desserts. I don't usually eat a lot of sweets so this place was a winner for me. The gelato flavors I chose were not too sweet! I highly recommend trying this gelato place in Lisboa!

Yelp
Visited Lisbon for a few days and happened to stop by this place before dinner, then after dinner again =9 the flavors while nothing particularly out of the ordinary, were very good. The fruit options especially were very fruit-forward and refreshing. The gelato consistency was a tad less creamy than I've had at other places, but I think just enough to feel less heavy. First time trying it got a medium €4.70 with hazelnut, straciatella and mango, second time tried pistachio, strawberry and orange. The drinking chocolate was a definite highlight, this was probably the richest, creamiest, darkest drinking chocolate I've ever had...amazing. I'm glad I was sharing this bc while it's not a huge mug, the richness of the chocolate made it a lot to finish for one person. Also wanted to mention the service (two ladies when I was there), was terrific and very pleasant. If I'm back in Lisbon I'd definitely make a trip back here!

Yelp
No need to make a special trip for this gelato place. It was pretty average in my opinion, and they didn't have any special flavors. We got the strawberry and stracciatella flavors. The gelato wasn't as creamy as I like. Presentation was cute and comes with this little cookie thing. Portion size was standard.

Yelp
Do far, this is the best gelato we've had in Portugal! Plenty of interesting flavors too! Busy at times.

Yelp
Successfully stumbled upon this gelato spot while walking through the streets of Lisbon to dinner. Mu is located next to the Campo dos Mártires da Pátria park atop a hill. Said hill was quite unexpected and not too evident at first glance with Google maps. It was the perfect location to take a break, catch my breath, and replenish the calories I had just burned on the climb. Opting for a mix of differing flavors (pistachio and mango) turned out to be a great choice! The product was very fresh and the flavors were quite unique - no doubt the best gelato I've had on this trip! Very deserving of 5 stars.

Yelp
Bunch of four letter words. My reaction to eating this gelato. So $&@$ing primo!! Love that you have the option to do a bunch of different flavors depending upon how much ice cream you're trying to consume. And hey, if you're ducking and diving through alleys and climbing flights and flights of steps, why the hell not get your gelato on in a big ass way. Big W here.

Yelp
Gelato was fantastic - rich, creamy, perfect amount of sweetness. Counter staff were charming and adorable. I tried pistachio and dark chocolate and that was the perfect combo.

Yelp
Visiting Lisbon for 5 days and of course I need to try out the best places for ice cream and Gelato. We just passed this place on our way to lunch and returned after lunch for some desert. Friendly service, spoke English which is awesome since I don't know a word of Portuguese, sadly. I had the following flavours: Lemon: 3 stars of five. A bit too lemony. Hazelnut: 5 stars. Quite excellent. Pistachio: 4, smooth taste, but not much flavour. Salted Caramel: 4. Bonus star for the soft 80's hits music playing on the sound system. I'd definitely come here again.

Yelp
4 stars for the gelato, 3 stars for service. There are a few unusual flavors here, but it's mostly the usual suspects. The pistachio is good, but Sorbettino's is better. It's VERY small. Only room inside for 2 or 3 people, at most, to order, then be off on your way. The service...well, I think she was doing us a favor by selling us gelato.

Yelp
As 4rd generation Sicilian American that lives around the corner from this shop three months a year I have nothing but praise for this place. I can't understand the singular poor review about the customer service, as I frequent this place often I have always been treated quickly and with respect. The reviewer must have caught them on a bad day. Trip Advisor gives it a 4.5. Mu Gelato is a franchise operation, which focuses on optimal customer experience. The nice thing about this place is it's intimacy and they make the gelato on-site. You can even watch them make the gelato. They also treat their product with dignity and respect, as I have seen the impeccable nature of the way they clean and care for their equipment and their interior space and for the care in which they serve their products. This great little place also makes a damn fine "bica" and they have a full barista service and they are dedicated to serving only the very high quality Italian Lavazza coffee brand (Lavazza is a rare brand to serve in Lisbon and thus far this is the only shop I have visited that uses Lavazza). In addition, they also make their own biscotti (twice baked Italian almond cookie) The Portuguese don't call it biscotti, but let me assure you that they are as good as any biscotti my Sicilian grandmother used to make, maybe better. Treat yourself to an single flavor or mixed single scoop (up to 3 scoops) in a cup or cone, of the variety of flavors they keep on hand, take up to half a liter of gelato to go, have an espresso or a cappuccino and don't forget to grab a small bag of biscotti to go. They also offer a desert waffle. The other nice thing about the location is that there is ample parking below Jardim Braancamp Freire across the street and then there is of course Jardim Braancamp Freire which is a great place to relax and enjoy your gelato if nothing else but to enjoy the weather or observe the many geese, ducks and chickens that are a local fixture to the park. This is about as close to an Italian Gelataria as it gets in Lisbon.

Yelp
one star because the site won't let me give zero -- i am not really reviewing the quality of the ice cream since i never got to taste it. we walked by this store on an afternoon stroll and stopped to get ice cream ... the menu looked interesting and the waitress was on the phone, so we had ample of time to decide ... so we looked at the list of flavors again ... and still was still on the phone ... and then we contemplated whether to order one or two scoops ... and she was still on the phone ... this, with no greeting, eye contact or apology ... and then we left.
