Mucha Foundation Art Museum

Prague is special because it is home to two Mucha museums. The original Mucha Museum in Kaunický palác focuses on his life, posters, drawings, and commercial work, offering a great introduction to his style and career. The Mucha Museum Savarin presents a broader, more immersive view of his legacy, including monumental works and deeper historical context. Alphonse Mucha was one of the most influential artists of the Art Nouveau movement, best known for his iconic decorative posters, flowing lines, and idealized female figures. Born in Moravia, he became world-famous in Paris at the turn of the 20th century and later devoted much of his work to Czech history and identity. A must for art lovers visiting Prague.

I visited Mucha Foundation Art Museum today and had a genuinely bad experience. I bought my ticket at 15:21. I hadn’t even finished the first exhibition room when a security guard announced that the museum would close in 10 minutes. As a result, I had to literally run through the remaining rooms and rush to buy souvenirs. The museum closed at 16:00, despite clear information at the entrance stating that it is open until 18:00. When buying the tickets, no one warned us that the museum was about to close early. Of course, no refund was offered. This is unacceptable service and feels misleading at best. Service quality: -10 out of 5. I will never return and I do not recommend this museum to anyone.

A lot of the paintings are the same as in the other Mucha museum, so not entirely sure which ones are original. The interior is gorgeous, the museum is quite small though. Entrance was hard to find as it’s not so obvious.

Great display of Muchas work. The museum displayed scaled down prints of the Slavic Epics that have me excited to see the real works next time i return. This museum elaborated on my understanding of the artista work, philosophy, and method. Mucha is a highly under rated artist and visiting this museum is a must do if you want to understand this Titans work.

Very small but well presented museum. Told a clear story in Czech and English. Excellent museum shop, delightful items. Especially the silk scarves. Bit pricey for such a small museum hence only 4 stars.

It’s a small museum but it leaves an impact. The transition of Mucha’s art and his journey is presented in a bite sized narrative. Delightful quick visit- loved the shop. I wish the lighting was done Ina. Way it wouldn’t reflect on all the glass, otherwise I enjoyed its staff is very friendly and helpful.

I genuinely enjoyed visited the museum. The exhibition comprises about 3 galleries with posters and paintings from Mucha’s Parisian period and his seminal works on the Slav epic. The museum shop offers a lot of cute gifts. Just do not expect a huge museum.

Very nice place. Romantic atmosphere. You can learn a lot about Mucha, but you can also just enjoy the works on their own.
