Um wow! Seriously, it is hard to write anything else. I don't know when Mucho Mas changed it's menu, but I wish someone had informed me when they did. I went back after some months with a friend. The plan was to go to Habaneros, but I can't bring myself to actually go there because of the reviews that it has gotten. I talked my friend into going to Mucho Mas, although I wasn't looking forward to that either since I can make most of the dishes they made at home. The atmosphere was the exact same, cramped and loud, but the menu has totally changed. They now have tamales, carnitas, and so many things one expects to find on a menu at a Mexican restaurant in the States. I was hesitant to order anything but the nachos since I have never ordere anything but the nachos here. However, I had to try the carnitas, just to see if they knew what they were doing. They are definitely not the best carnitas I have had. The pork was a little dry and without the guacamole, lime, and salsa, a little tasteless. They could have definitely improved with some cilantro (coriander). However, for this being Oslo, I am quite impressed and would definitely return. The homemade corn tortillas they came in were also quite good. My friend got the nachos and they are also a vast improvement. The chips tasted like they were homemade. They were light and crispy with the perfect amount of salt.
I was really close to giving 5 stars, but the prices, the size of the portions, and the service here keeps me from doing it. However, I am quite glad we chose to come here over Habaneros and I am seriously anxiously awaiting the next time I get to come back. With just a few improvements, I feel like Oslo is getting even closer to having a real Mexican restaurant.
