We visited while walking around the Killarney National park and Muckross gardens. We had such a lovely walk, it is about 2km around the farm and it is so beautiful. We loved seeing all the animals, and the different types of traditional farmhouses. The blacksmith demonstration was great too. All around very much worth the visit for adults and families with kids (they had a huge playground that looked like so much fun)

We had a really enjoyable family day out at Muckross Traditional Farms. It’s a fantastic setup, especially for children. They loved seeing all the farm animals, and the small playground was a great spot for them to burn off some energy. The traditional houses are brilliant, offering a genuine glimpse into Irish history in a way that's engaging for all ages. A real highlight for us was the working blacksmith's shop. Watching the blacksmith skilfully craft iron leaves was fascinating and a memorable part of our visit. It's also very thoughtful that they provide a small bus to help people get around the site, which is a huge bonus for families with small kids or anyone with mobility concerns. It’s a great, educational experience and well worth a visit.

Everyone was so lovely and this experience was great. The woman in the store was the kindest. I loved all the animals and the women in the houses were so informative. Please head here if you want to see some real Irish hospitality!

Visited whilst in the area whilst on an organised tour of Ireland. Sadly we only had one hour and needed at least two - we absolutely loved the old farmhouses - ran out of time to see the animals - there was so much to see and so beautifully presented - loved it! Got to try some home made bread and butter as well. One downside - we had been promised a bus to get my elderly mother up the hill - it never turned up and it turned out the driver was on his tea break - in fact we only saw it once the entire time we were there. This caused my mother to have to struggle round the farm in the limited time we had which was quite stressful. It's quite a climb up to the first farmhouse and we really needed that bus.

Well, what a great amazing place, very much worth the spend! Really knowledgeable staff with great stories and willing to share family history in their story telling. While a walk around it is short and easily done and really gives the vibe of 'heading down the road to see a friend' as if back in the day! Great to see the variable living with increased finance, from space to how much of the inner house is white washed, how bedding turned to high backed bench etc. Would suggest this as a much much better place to visit over Kerry Bog Village Museum, frankly they aren't in the same league. Would happily got o Muckross Traditional Farms again, wished I didn't spend the money at Bog though!

I never write reviews but this deserves more attention than it currently has. Can’t find a negative thing to say about the farms, it was a wonderful experience to talk to all the people and pet all the animals. Better than any zoo or learning from history books, for the children and adults alike. They could have charged us way more and we would have paid happily. We recommend coming super early when they just open, this way you can talk one on one with all the wonderful people and get as many pets in as you can.

Our tour group came to the Muckross Tradition Farm for a lovely dinner in their old farmhouse. It was an idyllic site, on a hundred year old farm, as kittens romped around outside as we entered the farm. There were even a pair of Irish Wolfhounds, that I was hoping to see on our trip as well. Huge, beautiful work horses wandered about and stuck their heads in the door of the farmhouse. It was like a dream! We had traditional, hearty Irish farm food inside, while two, wonderful musicians played the harp, penny whistle, squeeze box and drums and sang as we ate. After dinner we then retired to the old barn for dessert and Irish coffee while the lovely ladies played more traditional Irish music for us. The singer was hilarious and had a beautiful voice. It was one of the best nights of my life and a wonderful experience that we will never soon forget! Highly recommended!
