Might be some of the best cocktails in Taipei. Loved the old fashioned, one of the better ones I’ve had. The vibe here was also really great, chill and laid back. Food was solid too! Enjoyed the sliders. Yum!

Great cocktail bar located underneath the AMBA hotel. The environment was very inviting and the ambience was chilled and relaxing. Had the bars signature cocktails and tried couple of classic cocktails as well. A great place to hang out with your friends.

Cocktails fastidiously made, my “Don’s little bitter” was nicely balanced and shaken to a nice texture. Not a whisky bar but a good choice of scotch and bourbon including the excellent local Omar. A word of warning though, service can be slow when busy.

We found this bar on google map, it wasn't our plan but we were surprised to find this hidden gem in Zhongshan district. It's very quiet during the week day, they have a selection of good cocktails, and the bartenders were very professional. Love the good ambience inside, such a nice place to chill out with friends, I would love to come back again soon. The lovely cocktail I had on that day was Pisco Sour, love it!

Google
Nice chic and chill place with alright cocktails. Wouldn't say it's the best I've ever had but not bad, bit pricey for TW standard tho. Good place for a date, or if you're looking for quiet place to chill and have a good chat with friends

Yelp
Solid bar under the Amber Hotel, cute entrance NYC style. Great HH. The staff are very friendly, they make good cocktails too. The food is OK, the fish bites, nuts and french fries are safe bet. We had several menu cocktails, mostly good, some a little sweet for our taste. We also ordered traditional cocktails, all of which were very solid, tasty and reasonably priced. NYC bar at Taipei prices, excellent!

Yelp
Love the ambiance of this basement bar! They are located around the corner of the amba hotel, in a nondescript alley. There's no usher and obscured signage, so you have to know what you're looking for. But once you find your way down the stairs, it's a chill, speakeasy type vibe inside. It's dark, moodily lit, with a piano that I'm sure gets mileage on nights that they have live music, and a pillar of vinyls on display in the middle of the bar. As for the drinks, they have their own specialty cocktails, as well as classic cocktails with Taiwanese flavors and ingredients added! I opted for the raging passion, which is a drink made of gin, kumquat, shiso leaf, and lime, and topped with a whipped cream of sorts that was unexpected but thoroughly delightful! Music ranges from hip hop to jazz and soul. They have a back room that can accommodate large parties. Check out mud bar if you're in the zhongshan district!

Yelp
This cocktail bar was a little slow when we first showed up after they opened and honestly I'm surprised because these were likely the serving up some of the best drinks I had while in Taiwan. The calmer atmosphere was fitting for the relaxed, underground lounge feel they are trying to foster and the owner/manager was very attentive and interested in our opinion on each drink so showing early up early had its perks. Even as more people showed up it added a sense of life and was never overly loud which suited the venue well. I think they really nailed sometime with the atmosphere that made this an enjoyable environment to savor a nice drink. As mentioned before, the drinks themselves were very well crafted from the classics to the local twists. I'd say drinks here were priced a little closer to what you would expect to pay at a high end cocktail bar and seemed a bit more expensive that your average cocktail bar in Taipei but the quality justified it I think. I'd recommend it to cocktail lovers the world over if you are looking for a good drink in a calming environment.

Yelp
At last, an awesome bar that's not all the way in Xinyi District! My fam lives in the city but also far enough for going downtown to be annoying, so I am all for closer alternatives. For those who frequent the MRT system, Mud is conveniently located in the Zhongshan District and is just a 5-10 min walk from the Shuanglian Station-- p great. Be careful not to miss the bar as it is located underground and the entrance is kind of tucked away behind a restaurant on ground level. I was immediately impressed with Mud the moment we stepped in: modern design (lol @ wigs on vegan taxidermy), sweet music, and an impressive display of alcohol. We were there at 9pm on a weekday and idk if it's because I've slid into my late twenties but I was totally diggin the early night chill vibes! Mud's menus are printed on what looks like case files in manila folders and offer an abundance of creative, locally inspired cocktails. The staff here are super attentive and more than happy to help you pick your poison. They kept circling back to us to remove our trash and replenish our table's popcorn. So great. Here be our thoughts on the dranks that we ordered: 1) Formosa Old Fashioned - That longan tho. You might be in for a surprise if you're not familiar with the fruit, but I loved that they threw in this Taiwanese twist and gave it a touch of smokey flavors. 2) Geisha - Fruity and fun without being too sweet. The plum liqueur was so yummy. 3) Red Viper - *SPOILER ALERT* Comes in a bejeweled coconut bowl?! What??! If you're feeling extra, this is your drink. It wasn't as tart as I wanted, but I was v into how ginger-y it was. I'm not sure how else to describe this drink other than it srsly tasted like Thailand. Mud, I eagerly await our next reunion.

Yelp
Super cute place at the basement of amba hotel. Excellent cocktail selections . Really creative menu and use of ingredients. This Bar also makes their own infusions /house liquors . Expensive though but worth it. Doesn't serve food.

Yelp
Bars that we tried in Taipei have all been the same. Saccharine, barely alcoholic drinks concocted more for college freshman girls than rightfully disgruntled full-grown adults. Mud is different. Not only is their booze collected vastly superior than any bar we've seen in Taiwan (to be fair, also better than any average high end bar in the Bay Area), they have more than one bottle of Bourbon!!! Bourbons are rarely seen in Asia, the land of pretentious Scotch hogs. Most importantly, they have Bulleit which I was DYING for after stomaching weeks of lightly alcoholic fruit juices and expensive scotchs. A glass of bourbon, chocolate bitters and orange peel later, call me a Mud fangirl. Bartenders here know their booze and are extremely friendly in a laidback way. They are happy to chat and show us a variety of house infused booze. This level of customer service is super refreshing after continuously experiencing all-flair and no substance bartenders on our trip. Thumbs up for Mud. We will be back!
