Artists Ripple Root share an art-filled itinerary to Singapore - SilverKris

"A handmade ceramics studio in the Jalan Besar area offering workshops, commissioned pieces and homewares; bookable private pottery classes introduce beginners to the five core ceramics techniques—coiling, slab-building, throwing, trimming and glazing—so visitors can get hands-on experience making and finishing their own pieces." - Rachel Eva Lim

Where to try your hand at pottery in Singapore - SilverKris

"Taught by the potters who created a tea set presented to Queen Elizabeth II for her 90th birthday, the beginner’s course covers five foundational ceramic techniques — coiling, slab building, throwing, trimming and glazing — across five 2.5-hour lessons, with an advanced course available for students who can centre, throw and lift independently; the full beginner programme costs S$315." - Megan Khaw

Mudrock’s classes are booked out months in advance and having done beginners’ class for a month I can definitely see why. In my experience it’s a solid place to build an all-around foundation of skills before diving deeper or discovering more. Definitely a studio of record if you’re looking to build your craft across wheel, slab, and coiling! And after the initial course is done, there are plenty of options to either focus on one element, or come back and refresh your practice. There is a lot to learn, but you will walk away with a strong foundation of knowledge and increased confidence to apply it. Beautiful studio space too and you can tell Michelle, Seok and the whole community at mudrock are really devoted to building the practice of ceramics at all levels for everyone. Also buddy the dog is definitely a superstar and very loved by all 💛💛

Gorgeous locally-owned ceramics studio with incredible handmade pieces (mugs, cups, vases, plates, even dog bowls!) for sale. The studio is a stunning space, with a front shop that sells artwork and classes and workshops located in the back. Buddy the shop dog was my favorite part! Extremely reasonable pricing, a must visit for anyone in Singapore. They are located on the 14th floor up the elevator to the left. Highly recommend ❤️

Came for the first time last weekend. Love the views from this place. Slapping mud whilst gazing towards our skyline is pretty therapeutic. Not forgetting of course that you’ll be in great hands with the teachers!

I love that they have a store now at Tan Boon Liat, making it more accessible to buy their stoneware products. But I went down the other day and it was closed, during operating hours (on Google, their Instagram, their door sign). This wasn't the first time. I'm not sure how to check before you go down, but I'd definitely recommend doing that so you don't waste your trip down! I was wanting to buy a set of tableware for a housewarming but the barrier to purchase was too high and therefore reluctantly had to buy something else 😅 I will shop online next time! 🙌🏽

I've been part of the Mudrock community for the past 4 years. Forever thankful for this space where friendly people with good vibes gather to create beautiful ceramics. Michelle & Seok are selfless and patient in imparting their knowledge and skills, be it handbuilding, clay-wedging, throwing on the wheel, firing, glazing and material knowledge. And of course, like most artists, principles and integrity in their crafts make Mudrock the perfect place to learn pottery from. You will be in good hands 🙌

Had my first pottery class here last week. The teacher, Michelle, was patient and clear in her instructions and briefing. The studio was cozy, functional and comfortable to work in.

I’ve just completed the Beginners Course and I’m really going to miss these weekly sessions. Really nice studio with tidy & organised workbenches, wheels, tools etc. The course content was pitched well for beginners - not much theory and very hands-on. Through careful tuition and support I ended up with a number of usable pieces. It’s a really chilled out place, good music while you work, even offering great coffees and dog-friendly too. Would definitely recommend trying this course!

Lovely space and inclusive community. Owners Seok and Michelle are warm and passionate. Buddy is also a very supportive and suave dog. Thoroughly enjoyed the pottery classes I took here during funemployment. 🥰
