Went here after my husband and I got married today. The food was incredible. Packed with flavour and with such a beautiful presentation. The waiter was very kind and due to our post-wedding celebration, he offered the drinks. We had an amazing time. Recommend sitting on their patio facing seaport.

Absolutely enjoyed our meal, felt welcome even though we came without a reservation. The dhukka cauliflower and salmon ceviche were excellent, as was the scotch fillet (didn't need the sauces!). Kids menu was also great, the chicken tasted fresh and the salad was on point. Total damage was 223 AUD with 1 main, 2 sides, 2 cocktails and a kids menu. Would love to visit again in future.

Mudbar is a beautiful place for lunch by the Tamar River with very generous portions, family ambiance and lovely service, particularly by Dylan who went out of his way to recommend travels around Launceston and was very attentive to everybody including us! Absolutely outstanding service. The complimentary fried wontons with the chilli and coriander sauce was a hit (I loved), a bit like a prawn cracker, but did not sit so well in our empty stomachs. The 300g steak and mushrooms was absolutely delicious and I would come back again even just for the mushrooms! The steak was cooked to medium rare, could be more tender, and the jus was alright, possibly too sweet and light. The mushrooms served alongside were so lovely with a delicious garlicy, aromatic sauce. The duck tacos were also a delight, but I reckon would be better paired with a less heavy/thick and more flavourful dipping sauce. On the other hand, the Mudbar lamb was quite underwhelming as the pumpkin puree and breaded lamb was not so stunning, and the beer battered fish lacked any flavour at all. The view of the Tamar was lovely and the environment was super family friendly. We liked this take on asian fusion, and would love to visit again!

Slow service, ok food. Nothing special. Oysters were great, crab pie was ok, venison was served cold but tasty. Kids' steak had too much fat, half was unbeatable, we got a free dessert for that. Rabbit popstickers were very nice. Dessert was ok. We were there for 3 hours because it took forever to get the mains. Seated next to the kitchen door, we heard a lot of noise from the waiters. Most expensive meal we had in Australia, not worth it..

Google
The only place in Launceston that took a credit card to make a booking. The food is pretty good here. The porterhouse steak was extremely fatty without being rendered. The red curry fish was really delicious. The crab tart and salmon Ceviche special were quite fishy in smell and taste There was a mix up with the order and the waitress really struggled with taking orders for 10 people (without any amendments from the menu). The atmosphere here is really fun and it's on the water

Dinner at this place was a little different. A bit of improvement from the floor staff would go a long way — having to wait and look around just to ask for a napkin was slightly frustrating. That said, the gentleman who served us was kind and thorough when explaining the menu. The cocktails and oysters were absolutely delicious! 🍸🦪

Always a great experience here! The vibe is relaxed and welcoming, and the staff are super friendly, prompt, and really know the menu well. They checked in at all the right times, and the drink recommendation was absolutely perfect. I’ve been a few times now and have never been disappointed. Highly recommend if you love great food, good cocktails, and a happy, laid-back atmosphere!

Google
Excellent drinks, food and atmosphere. Edit: the chilli cocktails quite nice, but a bit overwhelming on the amount of spiciness. That's coming from someone that likes spicy food. The taste was so nice though. The mango one tasted amazing all around.

Yelp
We hadn't been sure what to expect out of one of very few restaurants open on a bank holiday, however, the menu looked good and we were very happy to be able to book a table with no hassle. We were there early because they do take a very large deposit to secure a table and we wanted to make sure we didn't miss our first seating reservation. So we went into the bar and had a cider and a cocktail while we waited for the 5:30 first seating start. Got seated. Ordered a mix of tempura mushrooms, charred cauliflower with saffron sauce and the seared salmon and could not have been more thrilled with how delicious everything was. The saffron sauce was a touch too sweet for my taste and the green curry sauce that went with the salmon was a touch too spicy. However, if those are things you enjoy, the food itself was beyond divine. Our servers were very helpful, very relaxed and a lot of fun to work with and the ambience wasn't so noisy. We couldn't hear ourselves think so. I can honestly say I recommend this place wholeheartedly! Be aware it is not cheap. It's also not hideously expensive.

Yelp
The food was uniformly outstanding. Had an issue with the wine, but our attentive and knowledgeable waitperson resolved it quickly and replaced it with an excellent local pinot noir. Had the octopus, duck, and the pork chop, and all were superbly cooked and presented. Approx $80pp including wine. Staff create a comfortably classic dining experience.

Yelp
Great location, friendly staff . Ive been here 8 times since it opened. It has improved and come along way since the early days. It is pricey but the food is good most of the time. I like the fact that you can get a table and order after 8pm. Ive gone in their at 9pm amd still got to get dinner. Alot of restaurants in Launceston close early especially in the winter , so the mudbar is great for filling that niche. Plenty of parking and clean toilets and facilities and staff are well presented, which is important, so many places dont seem to factor this in ‍

Yelp
Enjoyed a great meal here with work colleagues last night. Conveniently located below Peppers Hotel in the Seaport precinct. The service was amazing and the staff friendly and relaxed yet attentive to your needs. The food was presented beautifully and tasted great. The portions are large but the menu is weighted heavily towards meat dishes. We enjoyed a shared entree and shared desserts! The baklava was brilliant! Definitely recommend here for a fantastic meal and all whilst overlooking the river.

Yelp
This was a great restaurant. The service and food was outstanding. It was a bit pricey but the food quality made up for that. I would come back here. Great restaurant. I got the steak and it was cooked perfectly and was filled with flavour. It made me Hungry for more. Great restaurant. 5 star worthy I went here for a second time and I definitely liked my night 1 meal better. This time my steak had a lot more fat and bone. Still very nice and I still recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes a good steak

Yelp
I came here for drinks in the afternoon - really nice place next to the water. Quiet and peaceful. I stayed for an early dinner. As the kitchen wouldn't start serving dinner until 6pm, and it was 5:40pm, I ordered food off the bar menu. Many of the dishes are similar to the dinner and lunch menu. Highlights: Oysters with seaweed and ginger - just awesome. Get a dozen and share, and you might be tempted to order another dozen. The sweet seaweed and tangy ginger complement the slight saltiness of the Barilla Bay oysters. Lamb ribs with miso - nicely grilled, with a gentle miso flavour. They were a little fatty, hence why lamb ribs are not as popular as pork or beef ribs. The wasabi asian slaw served with it was also quite special. Sashimi trio - of trevalla fish, beef, and something else, was just divine! So fresh and juicy. Food here isn't cheap, but the quality is high and the asian-fusion invention is amazing. Lunch mains look good value at $20 to $30, whilst dinner mains are $30 to $50. Different menus for each.

Yelp
We had wanted to go to the Black Cow for dinner, but hadn't booked. The waiter recommended this place and what a great recommendation it turned out to be! The view is sensational and the wait staff friendly and on the ball. I asked for opinions and received honest answers. An answer of "I haven't tried it" is appreciated over a complete lie. I started with half a dozen natural oysters which were fresh and delicious. For mains I had the Yearling Scotch fillet which was cooked just as I hard ordered it and one of the best steaks I've consumed. All in all a great meal and good service. The only let down was waiting a while for them to take the credit card to be signed. If that is the worst thing about dining here, they are doing well!

Yelp
The best evening dining experience I have had in a long time. Wow, great service from the staff and the waiter was well clued in on the wines and pairing with our seafood based meal choices. Had the mixed natural oysters to begin which were amazingly fresh and infused with a signature flavourings from the chef: out of this world!! For mains we went for the taste plates for two with the wine parings which was awesome. As a couple we eat out a lot and by far this was the best experience all year the restaurants location was amazing with beautiful sunset views of the harbour. The internal atmosphere was excellent for a Saturday night and found the seating and ambiance to be confortable and relaxing. A definite must do for a special occasion.

Yelp
Been there at least three times a year, quite enjoyable Asian spices favor dishes, they can do very well with the balance of the tasty and spices! Worth a try when you travel to Launceston

Yelp
Came here with my partner for my birthday dinner. Seated at a cute private table at the back. Entree: We shared the rabbit tortellini. Twas deliciously rich but not overwhelming. Main: I ordered the ocean trout. Came with apple, ginger, potato mash with an Asian style sauce. Fish cooked just right, not tough and not floppy. Good combination of flavors. My partner ordered the lamb with seasonal vegetables. Was also cooked just right. Dessert: Too full for dessert :-( Would definitely come back here to try out the rest of the menu!

Yelp
On Yelp's recommendation I had an excellent lunch at this restaurant. The pork loin dish was spectacular and a wonderful fusion of Asian and Western flavours. The roasted pork loin was delicious and combined well with the mashed potato, steamed bok choy and the wonderful topping of shredded apple and fennel. Great atmosphere and lots of locals enjoying good food.

Yelp
Worst experience! Terrible staff that have no idea how to match the prices they're charging! Do yourself a favor and go 5 minutes down the road to hallams where the food is top notch, service excellent, and staff properly trained.

Yelp
Today a good friend and I enjoyed lunch at this great restaurant. Entrees consisted of : 1) Arancici of the day, served with fresh greens. 2) Mudbar Taste Plate. Tuna, trevalla sushmi, with lime, natural oyster, oyster nahm, wasabi seared beef & warm noodles. Mains: 1) Ginger rubbed salmon fillet with mash, sprouts, Asian greens with fresh lime. 2) Warm roasted Marion Bay chicken with lemon potato aioli, warm roasted vegetable salad, zucchini ribbons and salsa verde. All meals were full of flavour and extremely delicious. The staff were extremely happy and friendly, only to happy to accommodate, my unusual requests. Thank you all for a wonderful lunchtime experience.

Yelp
Had a very good meal here and managed to get in last-minute just before Christmas (bonus). The steak was very good and came with a potato and carrot dauphinoise which was different and complemented the steak and salad well. The bar is well stocked (I judge this by the range of gins available) and the wine list has some really tasty drops. Top it off with a good location on the river and mud is a pretty good option for dinner in Launceston.

Yelp
I ate here two straight nights due to proximity to my hotel. Two completely different experiences. Night one I had the rib eye and it was fantastic. We had a great waiter who was very helpful with the wine selection. Night 2, I upped the ante and went for the 500G bone-in. Mistake....stick to the smaller version it has much for flavour and less fat.

Yelp
Best eatery in launceston. Food is amazing, service is friendly. They will even give kids options. This is my favorite place, everywhere else now just seems disappointing
