Mudbar is a beautiful place for lunch by the Tamar River with very generous portions, family ambiance and lovely service, particularly by Dylan who went out of his way to recommend travels around Launceston and was very attentive to everybody including us! Absolutely outstanding service. The complimentary fried wontons with the chilli and coriander sauce was a hit (I loved), a bit like a prawn cracker, but did not sit so well in our empty stomachs.
The 300g steak and mushrooms was absolutely delicious and I would come back again even just for the mushrooms! The steak was cooked to medium rare, could be more tender, and the jus was alright, possibly too sweet and light. The mushrooms served alongside were so lovely with a delicious garlicy, aromatic sauce. The duck tacos were also a delight, but I reckon would be better paired with a less heavy/thick and more flavourful dipping sauce.
On the other hand, the Mudbar lamb was quite underwhelming as the pumpkin puree and breaded lamb was not so stunning, and the beer battered fish lacked any flavour at all.
The view of the Tamar was lovely and the environment was super family friendly. We liked this take on asian fusion, and would love to visit again!
