I recently had dinner here, and I was quite disappointed. The food quality didn’t match as per my expectation. it tasted more like something from a basic roadside dhaba. The ambiance was decent, but the food needs a serious upgrade to justify the cost.

On the last day of our trip to Kashmir, We went to Mughal Darbar for authentic Kashmiri wazvaan food and it was an amazing experience. We ordered 1 dish for four persons at Rs.1200/-. It was more than enough quantity for us. It was delicious and very tasty food. All the items were very tasteful. Good experience.

Had biryani yesterday with family. The price was exorbitantly high, but the taste and quality were highly disappointing. In the name of biryani, they are merely serving plain rice with a fried chicken piece on top. It was neither authentic nor worth the money. Such a misrepresentation not only ruins the experience but also disrespects the essence of true biryani. Strongly feel that place charging premium prices should be held to higher standards of authenticity and quality.

Had lunch at Mughal Darbar for Kashmir cousins. They served one. It’s quite interesting. The half plate is sufficient for more than 4 people. It has a very strong aroma of mutton.

We went on the day after Ramadan/ID on 1st April 2025. The staff was unfriendly, and did not want to take our order for some reason. When we started giving the order he just heard the first item we ordered and left without letting us complete the order. I had to get out of the seat and go to the waiter personally to complete my order. Food quality was not very good. Chicken pieces were dry in the biriyani and the mutton sheikh kebab was very difficult to chew. In the end, the waiter even insisted on a tip despite the poor service. Lastly, a group of 2 individuals apparently affiliated with the restaurant came to us demanding parking fees of 100 rupees for a 45 mins stay, when I asked why the fee is so hefty they called it an ID gift. I also had food at a nearby restaurant called ahdoos, which was much better, I will definitely visit Ahdoos instead of Mughal Darbar.

Is3d to be one if the best for authentic kashmiri dishes.. but not now.. service is lousy. Rotisserie were stale and hard to eat. The waiter still tried to pass these on as good ones. Haakh is good..

DELICIOUS This place serves mouthwatering Kashmiri cuisines. It is situated within the 2 km radius of Dal lake. Local transports like Toto and Auto are easily available to reach this restaurant at any time in the day. It is situated on the main road, so easily accessible from any part of the Srinagar city. You will get just like a Darbar vibe the moment you enter the restaurant. It has two dining areas. In one part normal table chair seating arrangements are there. The other part is known by the name Dastarkhan, where you can enjoy your food by sitting on the floor Only to get the real feel of enjoying Kashmiri cuisine. Most of the locals were enjoying the second seating option. This place offer a spread of Kashmiri popular dishes, specially Wazban, Roghan josh, pulao and so on. We ordered Kashmiri pulao, roghan josh and butter nun. For me Pulao was the show stopper. Here I like to mention about the staffs also. They are really cordial and helpful. The attendant suggested us the perfect quantity we should order for a group of four. He even help us to choose the dishes. This place is a budget friendly but classy option. It didn't pinch our pocket hard. It only cost around 2,000 for four people. It has a clean washroom and basin area also.

Mughal Darbar in Srinagar is a must‑visit for lovers of authentic Kashmiri and Mughlai flavours. Nestled on Residency Road, it’s a culinary landmark boasting a warm, traditional ambiance—wooden interiors, Kashmiri-style carpets, and even carpet-floor seating rooms you can reserve for a full Wazwan experience . Food: Expect rich, velvety classics like Rogan Josh, Yakhni, and the ever‑delicate Gushtaba—legendary dishes that define Wazwan . Reviewers rave that the “wazwaan here was not very good or amazing” on a rare off‑day, but most praise its consistency and generosity . Non‑veg lovers will adore the kebabs and mutton-heavy spread—limited vegetarian dishes are available, but meat takes centre stage . > “Delicious food… must have a visit” and “amazing authentic Kashmiri cuisine” are sentiments echoed by many . One traveler added: “The bakery is really good… chicken patties… and cookies” . Service & ambiance: Staff are described as courteous and informative, even accommodating kids with less spicy dishes . The restaurant is clean, spacious, and well‑staffed, though interiors stay more traditional than luxurious . Highlights: Generous portions—Wazwan portions easily feed 3–4 people Traditional dining options—book the rooftop carpet‑floor room for authentic feel Excellent bakery—don’t miss chicken patties & walnut cookies In sum, Mughal Darbar offers a rich, immersive dive into Kashmiri cuisine with reliable service, hearty portions, and a cultural touch. Perfect for first-timers and seasoned foodies alike—just come hungry!
