Muir Woods Lodge

I chose this hotel for the location because it’s right between San Francisco and Muir Woods, but there are better places in the area. We paid 130 a night which I think was too much for this hotel. We paid less for much better rooms on this road trip. I slept for maybe 3 hours total because the walls are so thin I could clearly hear the conversations on both sides of our room. The room was cold and there is no comforter on the bed, but the heater is so loud we couldn’t sleep with it on. The cops also came at one point to deal with a group of guys in the back of the property. When I asked the front desk, she said not to worry because they were just looking for someone and checking cars? This was the only place I felt like I needed to put my club on my steering wheel on our trip. The room lacked basic things like a luggage stand, tissues, and washcloths and the fridge froze our food. It was clean, but I couldn’t wait to leave and I got on the road exhausted the next day

Hello, I do not appreciate false advertising and your website says a free breakfast which is how I factor in where to stay when we travel. Also, there was no smoke detector in our room, which is also a safety problem. You also have terrible reviews online that are not replied to, so I doubt this message will be taken into consideration.

Pros: - Proximity to Muir Woods. - Inexpensive. - TV had built-in accessibility to Netflix and YouTube, so we were able to log into our Netflix and watch a movie before bed. - Seemed pretty quiet overall. Cons: - Confirming the reservation was difficult. The first person I spoke to didn't know what to do when I asked if they could confirm my reservation. C'mon. - They didn't ask for ID at check-in. Sure, who is going to have my name and try to steal my room, but something about that felt insecure. - There was a lot of trash kicking around outside, including a vibrant, Giants orange beanie that could not be missed. No one is picking up outside and I assume they are not maintaining a lost and found. Just based on the unkempt premises, I was slightly concerned about leaving my car unattended. - The room was extremely hot and humid upon entry. They had left the front window open and the HVAC unit switched off. - The HVAC unit was effective, but it ran continuously the entire time we were there. When it was not actively cooling, it seemed to switch into fan mode. It also made occasional popping and clanging noises in the night. - There was too much furniture for the room. Dresser drawers could not be opened because they were up against the HVAC unit. The desk and cair obstructed the ability to walk around the bed. - The recessed overhead lighting did not work (except one bulb) and one of the bedside drawers was broken. - No shampoo in the bathroom. The dispenser had been removed from the wall. - The bathroom sink was slow-draining and the faucet in the tub was difficult to turn fully off. I basically punched that thing in the face to make it stop running. - I have never stayed in a room that was so dirty. The more I looked, the more marks and stains I noticed on the walls, the floor, the ceiling, the furniture... - No comforter on the bed, no extra blankets or pillows, and the sheet straight did not fit the bed. That was by far the strangest thing for me. It came untucked at the upper corner and there wasn't enough slack to tuck it under. On closer inspection, it was not properly tucked at either end, nor could it be. The mattress pad was also not tucked under the corners of the mattress. It felt stupid to try to calling the front desk; if they were able to do it properly, they would already have done, so I just fixed the mattress pad and called it good. - No "do not disturb" sign was provided. Around 10:30 AM, cleaning staff tapped on the door and then immediately tried to enter, hitting the dead bolt. I yelled and they closed it again and walked on. Awkward.

Positive: It was close to Muir Woods, so we could get there early. Negative: Water in sink and tub did not drain. Walls extremely thin¿could hear people on both sides. Staff not friendly. Next time I¿d stay at the hostel at Fisherman¿s Wharf. We checked that out later and it looked terrific. Negative: ""

Location was super convenient if you want to stay just outside of San Fran. I can tell the people who work here are trying. I hate to say it, but we got a bit of a strange vibe from the place. Granted—it’s a motel. So pretty much what you’d expect, if not a little better than average for a motel.

After having issues with the first two rooms, we checked into room 225. It wasn’t the cleanest but we thought it would work. I was about to go to sleep when I noticed an adult BEDBUG crawling on my mom’s pillow. We immediately left. To see bedbugs crawling around means there’s a major infestation. Don’t risk staying here.

It’s perfectly clean and fine to sleep for one night…if you can find it. It was twilight and beginning to rain when I arrived. I drove around for almost an hour before I stopped at a nearby restaurant to ask for directions. The only sign was not lit and was hidden in bushes. Then I drove around the motel a couple of times before I found the office. The room itself had a cel-like feel, thanks to the lack of any decoration: no pictures, no rugs, just bare wood-like floors.

Excellent price because it locates in Mill Valley! Room is clean and nice front desk. It’s a great choice if you decide to travel in SF, safe parking and the beautiful view.
