The Mumbai Junction is a curious place, formerly the Hungry Horse with a clear restaurant/pub divide, the new place seems a little confused about what exactly it is. The owners have billed it a 'Sports bar' however it feels more like just a restaurant with some big screens thrown inside. On arrival you are greeted at the door by a smiling waiter, who will sit you down if there's space, present a plate with cutlery and a menu, table service is mandatory just like a restaurant, however right in front of your face is a big booming widescreen. Long gone are the days when you could just turn up and sit down with a pint and watch a game of football.. The whole process of watching the beautiful game here has become incredibly civilized, sanitized, the atmosphere could even be described as stiff, however i can imagine watching cricket here to be a quite enjoyable with the great surroundings and good food. When the sport isn't on a constant flow hindi music is provided on the screens courtesy of Zee TV, B4U and other Indian music TV.. to describe this as a sports bar is a little bit over the top. There is really no need to do it.. i feel the success of the Blue GInger had a huge influence on this place and it shows, the Mumbai Junction gas some great food, and there lunchtime specials are great too.. There are also some good beers on tap Kingfisher, Cobra.
I would definitely come back to eat however i would choose to watch sport at this 'sports bar' somewhere else. Somewhere with a passion about sport, somewhere that lets you indulge in your passion.
