Mumedi Design Hotel (Mexico City, Mexico) 1 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"The first wave of boutique hotels in Mexico City was concentrated in the upscale residential districts, but Mumedi takes contemporary design straight to the Zócalo, the city’s vast, bustling central square. It’s a museum first, exhibiting everything from graphic and industrial design to photography, illustration, even architecture. It’s got a design shop stocked with local work, as well as an inventive modern restaurant that combines traditional Mexican cooking with international influences as well as the concept of “food design.”" - Tablet Hotels

If we were to describe the perfect hotel for our trip we couldn't have done much better than MUMEDI. It's exactly what we were looking for -- historic building, modern room facilities, atmospheric restaurant, close to the Zocalo, small boutique hotel, great food, great staff, comfortable bed, great shower & bathroom. ||We stayed for 8 days, it was our first time to CDMX and so wanted a location in the historic centre cause that's where most of the things we wanted to see were. It's really convenient to stop in and out during sightseeing. It's on the main pedestrian street (it goes from the Zocalo straight to the Palacio des Bellas Artes) and our room had a little balcony over the street. The windows are double-glazed which work really well at keeping out the noise at night. ||We had a room on the top floor and so our bathroom had a big skylight which made it nice and bright during the day. The bathroom was huge, almost as big as the room itself. The ceilings are very tall, 15 feet maybe? There's a fan & a/c which work well.||The breakfasts are amazing, they make a very good capuccino. Included in the room is a fruit platter, fresh juice, capuccino, and choice of main (we had omelettes most days), fresh croissants.||Being on a pedestrian street you have to walk about a minute to a vehicle road to catch an Uber, but that was never a problem.||Emanuel was great at helping us plan our trip before we arrived and was super helpful while we were staying. The rest of the staff are also amazing.||You really feel like you're part of the city while in the hotel, which is what we wanted.||There's no elevators, in case that's a concern for folks (it wasn't for us, although the first couple days we were winded getting to the top, as CDMX is at a bit of an altitude, we were fine by the end :) )||Overall it was the perfect hotel for our trip. I'd definitely recommend it!

This review is specifically for the shop/cafe. I come here whenever I’m in town, they have a really well curated selection of art and design books as well as handcrafted items from local artists and designers. I always find something cool here. I almost hesitate to give away my hidden-in-plain-sight gem but this is a perfect spot to escape the craziness of Madero, grab a coffee and a magazine and maybe see an exhibit!

I stayed here about six months ago for one night. My time in the hotel was excellent. The service was great and I felt like I was very well taken care of. The location was really nice. I did not have a lot of time in Mexico City but because of where the hotel was located I was able to see a lot in a very short amount of time. The room I stayed in was very beautiful, my only complaint would be that I booked a room with a bathtub but the room I stayed in did not have one. It really was not a big deal and I am sure if I had mentioned it they would have made things right. I definitely would stay here again.

Nice room, though the bed pillows were overly soft. The room was large as was the bathroom. Because it’s in a historic building in a courtyard room, there isn’t much natural light. The ceilings are high. It’s obvious the hotel tried to maintain some of the historical charm. Breakfast is included in the rate. The menu options are limited, but it is good. The hotel is on a pedestrian-only street, which adds to its charm, but you will have to haul your suitcase for a block. The hotel has no elevators. I had to go up two flights of stairs. This was no problem for me, but if you have mobility issues, this will not be a good accommodation for you. This is a boutique hotel that also offers a restaurant, a large gift shop and a small art museum. These features are charming. ||I never had a problem entering the hotel, but the restaurant and shops close at 9. The hotel is staffed 24 hours, so there will be someone there to let you in. But you may have to send a message because the hotel will be locked. If you are one to stay out late, this may be inconvenient for you. I would not want to call someone to granted access to the hotel.||The hotel is in the old city and is convenient to tourist attractions and a hop-on-hop-off bus tour.

We stayed 5 nights here and had a very enjoyable stay. The location is fantastic, just a few yards to the zócalo. The property is multi-purpose, a design gallery, a restaurant and a hotel. Suite 2 was beautiful and spacious, with some great design features and a small balcony to take in the atmosphere below. With there just being 6 suites, you get that personal attention and this was most evident when we dined in the restaurant. Here Arturo was most welcoming and the food was of a very high quality. As we had early tours booked, a fresh continental breakfast was brought to your room at an agreed time. Staff are happy to carry your luggage as there is no lift, but the stairs may be a problem for the less able. When we were there the studio was displaying various Day of the Dead posters.

Lovely hotel in a very central area close to the main square. Staff are really helpful and friendly. Rooms are really amazing with high ceilings and good facilities. There is one room with an inner courtyard aspect and others look onto the street (which can be nice but noisy). Our only negative point is they don't serve breakfast until the cafe opens at 9am which is really late for a hotel.

The tours start every hour, so make some time in the café area they have delicious cocktails and cold beeer. They also have a souvenirs shop. The curators of the expositions are always kind and very helpful. It is not design for people in wheel chairs they only have stairs. Barthrooms are only for costumers , so ask for it and they provide with a code.

This boutique hotel definitely isn't your average stay. The rooms are well appointed and thoughtfully decorated. Pictured just as the website shows and super clean. It's a historic building so no elevator but the stairs weren't a problem. We were greeted by Emmanuel after our late flight around midnight/1am for check-in and offered to take our bags up. Anything we needed (ice, iron, refreshments) they brought up quick. The whole staff was extremely nice and helpful, even with some suggestions on where to eat. The breakfast downstairs each morning was amazing. Traveled here from LA and will be back!
