Mumtaz Mahal Restaurant

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Mumtaz Maham Restaurant, and I must say it was an exceptional experience. The food was exquisite, and the ambiance was truly extraordinary. The restaurant's cozy atmosphere and stunning sea views made for a truly unforgettable dine in.

We had the tasting menu at Mumtaz Mahal in Muscat, and it was fantastic! Each of the five courses was packed with bold, vibrant flavours that showcased Indian cuisine at its best. Portions were super generous—so much so that we couldn’t finish the last course, which was the biggest of them all. Honestly, one tasting menu is perfect for two people to share. Great food, lovely ambiance, and overall an experience worth savouring!

The best Indian food I have had! Fresh, tasty and reasonably priced. Great view from the top of the hill! You may get a bit lost trying to get there so make sure you leave a bit early.

NOT Advised to visit I regret to say that our recent dining experience did not meet expectations, especially considering the pricing. The food was excessively seasoned with black pepper and chili, which overpowered the actual flavors. Portion sizes were noticeably small. We ordered Lachha Paratha and Garlic Naan, but unfortunately, both were undercooked. The Jeera Rice appeared to be made with low-quality rice. The paneer dish included only six small pieces, and the paneer itself lacked flavor and quality. While the ambience was pleasant, there is a clear need for improvement in both the quality and quantity of the food.

Mumtaz Mahal, located next to Kalabash in Madinat Al Alam, offers an exceptional dining experience. The ambience is off the charts, creating a perfect atmosphere for a delightful meal. The staff were incredibly nice and friendly, with Faisal providing exceptional service. We were welcomed with complimentary Masala Pappad and Aloo Bonda, which were absolutely delicious, especially when paired with their homemade Tamarind and Date Sauce. The Butter Chicken and Madras Chicken Curry were both excellent, full of rich and authentic flavors. The Chicken Biryani was also delicious and a must-try. For starters, we had the Malai Chicken Tikka and prawns, both of which were amazing. To finish off our meal, we enjoyed the Date Cake with Ice Cream, Gulab Jamun, and Rasamalai—all were scrumptious. Keep in mind that the price is on the higher side. Overall, Mumtaz Mahal delivers an outstanding culinary experience with top-notch service. Highly recommended!

Extremely Disappointed with Our Lunch Experience at Mumtaz Mahal We recently dined at Mumtaz Mahal for lunch, and our experience was nothing short of disastrous. The quality of the food was not up to mark: Misleading Mutton: we order mutton rogan josh in which they not serve mutton that was actually lamb, which is unacceptable and misleading for customers expecting authentic mutton dishes. Undercooked Haryali Chicken Tikka: The chicken tikka was not properly cooked Mutton Biryani : The Mutton Biryani was no mutton, making it dry and flavorless. Additionally, the bread served alongside was smelly, a chewy and unpleasant texture. Pathetic Service: The service was equally disappointing. Staff members were inattentive, unresponsive, and seemed uninterested in addressing our concerns. This level of service is unacceptable for any dining establishment. Overall, the combination of food quality and terrible service made our visit extremely embarrassing. We left feeling frustrated and deeply dissatisfied. We will certainly not be returning to Mumtaz Mahal and cannot recommend it to others seeking a pleasant dining experience.

Another gem in Muscat, Oman, that you should try if you're looking for Indian dishes is this restaurant located at the top of a hill. It's especially enjoyable at dinner time due to its relaxing ambiance and calming vibe. There is plenty of parking space, and the staff are very helpful and kind. The food is very tasty, offering a wide range of options 👍
