This place is heaven. I was originally supposed to be here for 3 nights, but extended to stay for 4 nights. I easily could’ve stayed much longer. If you want to just relax and calm your nervous system, this is the place.
The property is absolutely stunning - with one of the most beautiful views I’ve ever seen. Practicing yoga and swimming in the pool overlooking the mountain view was a dream. There are also so many birds all around the property, and we had a toucan stop by for breakfast twice while I was there. There are also multiple dogs and cats on site, who are all really sweet.
The people working here are so kind. And the food is fantastic. All three meals a day were healthy, delicious, and very big portions - I was always so full. The basic meals are vegetarian, but you can choose to add on eggs to breakfast and meat to other meals. Meals are eaten at collective tables, so it’s easy to meet other people staying here.
I stayed in the 7-bed dorm and was nervous about whether that would be easy to sleep in. In fact, it was wonderful. The beds are very comfortable and the comforters are warm for cooler nights. Everyone here tends to go to sleep by 8:30-9:30pm and wake up around 5:30-7am, so people are very quiet. I slept very very well.
The activities in the area are also great. You can walk 20 minutes to a cacao/coffee farm run by a local family, which is well worth it. A 10 minute walk away is a small indigenous village, and the people living there will often stop by Mundo Nuevo. There are multiple hikes in the area. And there is bird watching and yoga each morning, both were great.
Lastly, we had a huge unexpected two day storm while I was there. The power and water were going in and out for all of Minca. Mundo Nuevo did such a great job of taking care of us all despite the storm. Meals were still given to us on time and it was as though nothing was different. We had such a comfortable space to cuddle up with books throughout the storm, and I was really glad I stayed here for it.
