The Murat-Pasha Mosque is located in the very center of the Old Bazaar in Skopje. According to the inscription on the marble plaque above the entrance door in the Murat-Pasha mosque, it is explained in Arabic that it was built around 1802 and 1803, after its original structure was burnt in a fire in 1689.
There is a drinkable water fountain in front of the mosque, that adds to the beauty of this remarkable mosque.
We didn’t enter the mosque since it was not prayer time yet, but we were fascinated by its simple yet beautiful exterior. Also being located right in the centre of the Old Bazaar of Skopje, it serves as a continuous prayer house for the locals and tourists. Good experience to be here.
