Yelp
Not safe for people with celiac. I have celiac, my husband does not. We chose this restaurant because the menu had a number of GF (gluten free) and GFA (gluten free option with modifications) items. We ordered one GF and two modified GFA dishes. The person who took our order was very knowledgeable and explained what each modification was (dish 1: different sauce, no crumb topping; dish 2: different noodles, grilled mushrooms instead of tempura). However, we did not see her again and different people brought out the food. When the first GFA dish came out it appeared to be as described (no crumb topping) but it was impossible to tell by eye if the sauce was different. I ate about half of it, including something which I now believe to be a non-gf soy sauce or ponzu sauce in an agar (?) pearl. Then the GF dish and the other GFA dish came out. The server said "gluten free" as she set down the decidedly NOT gluten free GFA dish - there was tempura right on top! How could you miss this?? Obviously I didn't eat a bite of it, my husband ate that one. However clearly both of the allegedly gluten free GFA dishes were either contaminated or incorrectly made as I was up sick all night and have spent one of my precious vacation days feeling awful. As I said, the person who took our order clearly knew what she was doing, but there is either a communication problem in the kitchen or poor training amongst the other staff. Avoid this place if you have celiac.
