We couldn’t have asked for a better place to celebrate a 60th birthday. The food was absolutely spectacular, especially the quality of the seafood from the sea urchin to the whole flathead, blue eye trevally, wild-caught snapper and the line-caught Tasmanian tuna. Every dish was fresh, beautifully prepared and full of flavour. Our server, Jarenne, was knowledgeable, attentive and incredibly accommodating, making us all feel so welcome. Every staff member was friendly and worked seamlessly as a team. Even though we brought in our own Bombe Alaska birthday cake, the team went above and beyond to help light it and turn it into a truly special moment. An exceptional dining experience from start to finish.

We had dinner at this classy Hobart seafood restaurant during our recent holiday. We got their 2 signature fish dishes i.e. Blue-eye trevalla with cream sauce and Grilled blue-fin tuna steak. Both dishes are good with the premium fish fillets shown as main heroes. However, we actually prefer the entree of fried calamari and dessert of coconut & chocolate mousse cake. The sauces on the fish dishes were not really our preferred choice, and I think Mures should change them. We also had beer and Riesling wine drinks for the night. The place's ambience is top-notch with good seating space and Hobart waterfront view on glass windows. Customer services from staff members are excellent and reflect the fine-dining status. You can pay with all type of credit cards with surcharge of up to 1.75%.

We came here for our 25th wedding anniversary lunch while visiting Hobart for the weekend, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. A warm welcome and two complimentary glasses of bubbles set the tone perfectly. We began with the lemon myrtle and kelp oysters alongside the seafood cones — the kelp oysters were so perfectly balanced I tried to find room at the end of lunch to order more, but couldn’t fit a thing in. The prawns and the fish crudo followed, both beautifully fresh and full of flavour. The seafood chowder was rich and comforting, and the seafood pasta was excellent; the mussels were a little small, but the taste was still spot on. Service was outstanding, with Kendall from Victoria BC especially friendly and helpful. A perfect lunch for a special occasion. Absolutely will be back next time we’re in Hobart. Highly recommended.

This is our 5th return visit for the special New Years Eve function. Beautiful surrounds and ambience and we were made to feel very special. Food was spot on and terrific, attentive, and friendly service. What is nice is being recognized as a return diner. Lovely dining experience to see out the past year. Highly recommended.

Overall a lovely dining experience with great service and beautiful food at Mures Upper Deck. The atmosphere was elegant and perfect for a fine-dining dinner — we tried the seafood and everything was tasty and well-prepared. Plenty of variety and excellent quality seafood. 🍽️ Service was attentive and friendly, making the evening enjoyable. The staff were knowledgeable and accommodating, adding to the overall positive experience. 🍏 However, was a bit disappointed not to receive the apple crumble dessert. Also the fish is a bit lack of flavor.

Pros: The location is fantastic with a beautiful harbour view, and the staff are friendly and helpful. Most of the dishes we ordered were very tasty — the scallops were absolutely amazing! Cons: A few dishes were less impressive; for example, the seafood pasta lacked flavour, and at this price point we expected higher quality.

Everything’s great here! Friendly service, amazing food, good vibes and view! Easily the best meal we had in Tassie. The blue eye trevalla dish was mind-blowing. It’s tender and moist, with a play of textures from the crisp and the roe. I want more of it :( I love love sea urchin and the uni pairing with fresh oysters was unbelievable (shiok). Overall a very happy experience and worth every penny.

A wonderful experience with highly attentive and professional staff. The food was amazing and sourced from local produce. The seafood platter and lobster was delicious. The desserts were light and flavours were well balanced. Super fast service.

Yelp
Ok I'm ready for my fancy drinking lunch. What a gem! The serene waterfront views paired perfectly with the crisp white wine makes for the best lunch. The seafood chowder was an absolute dream--rich, creamy, and brimming with perfectly cooked seafood. Each spoonful was happiness and joy. We were so glad to have stumbled upon this spot. It's a place I'd happily return to again and again!

Yelp
Great views from this restaurant. Every time I've come to this restaurant we've had amazing food service has been quick and each time we came we didn't have a booking and was seated immediately. Mures is always on my list of places to eat when I come to Hobart.

Yelp
Evidently this place is not for Americans. Look the abalone was tasty. I asked one person if it was fresh and the shell I got belonged to the abalone they served me. I was told yes, but later on I was told that it is not. They reuse the shell. I'm not so sure I got a whole abalone as it was sliced thin and not much too it based on the size of the shell. The lobster was frozen. I was told the half lobster was $130 and the whole was about 2 times as much. We tried the half. So it came Mornay style and the lobster meat was chopped into small pieces. 5 to be exact and each one was very small. Think total volume about 1/3 of a standard Milky Way bar. I'm not even sure if it was the lobster that came with the shell or they just scooped some out of a pot. Don't know how it tasted, sent it back due to price and portion size I will say this, they were accommodating and took it off the bill and offered some free wine or desert which we did not take them up on The broccolini was excellent The smoked fish soup was a pass for me.

Yelp
This is a review for the lower deck not the upper deck, so take it for what it's worth. Great location. That's it. Fish and chips were sub par- like a cheap cafeteria. Soup was so bad my wife couldn't even finish more than a few spoonfuls. Yes, it's a touristy area but FFS put some pride into your product.

Yelp
We started off with the host pulled out our seats and pushed it in for each one of us. I ordered a Pinot that was for the restaurant (very small pour for $10) my friend ordered a pink martini ($22).We got bread at $3 per slice. My friends got scallops and a side of broccolini and green beans. I got the pumpkin and butternut squash risotto. My friends got the apple tart tartin. They loved it. Pretty expensive.

Yelp
We were on a Viking cruise ship and wanted some great Tasmanian seafood. Mures Upper Deck was recommended by the locals so we walked over from the ship. It was a short walk. I had the lobster and it literally was the best I have ever eaten. In the US it would have been frozen, but this was fresh out of the sea. It was so good that I will have to go back to Hobart to have it again. The service was excellent. The view was of lobster boats leaving the harbor to go get more lobsters.

Yelp
The flagship restaurant of the Mures family located in the middle of the harbor above several other eateries (also owned by the Family). Look for the big green building overlooking the harbor. We had a 7 pm booking and I'm glad we did as they were turning away walk-ins on a summer Thursday night. We were given a lovely table for-two looking out on the harbor. The menu here is centered around fresh caught fish prepared and presented in a beautiful style. There were several specials and I opted for the mild, flakey tooth fish filet set in a mix of asparagus tomato and grains while my wife tried another local white fish. Their extensive wine list is also heavy on local producers and there are many nice selections by the glass in addition to the bottle list. Service was a bit slow bit we never felt neglected-I think they could do with a few more staff as our poor server, wHile diligent seemed to just have too many tables. All in all a nice, elegant (yet not stuffy), dining experience on the water. Recommended

Yelp
This is a great spot for an occasion. Not cheap but the flavours are incredible. We shared a chowder (which they even served us in two bowls) and it had shredded fish, smoked mussels, etc etc, everything still with distinct flavours. This is a chowder on overdrive. I had the trevalla, which was served sitting in a shallow broth with large pieces of its own skin dried in chip form. The broth itself was delicious. My partner had the grilled salmon. It was served with a kind of lentil stew that had something salty like bacon in it. Such powerful flavours! And to top all that off, we also had a miringue with berry compote and an Earl Grey flavoured creme brulee. It was a lot but was so good.

Yelp
Excellent food and service. Had the Pipers Brook Rose which was great. Had a side salad which was a generous and proper salad with fresh greens, and the Moretón Bay bug for my main. It's basically a lobster and was pretty good. Definitely worth checking out and there's nice views all around.

Yelp
Looking for a seafood late lunch. This place came highly recommended. I had the lunch Fish & Chips and my husband had the Trevalla (Blue-eyed Cod) and Risotto. This was one of the best seafood meals we have every had. The fish was so fresh tasting and the risotto was amazing. Too bad we have to go home or would go back for dinner too!

Yelp
This is a very good to excellent fish restaurant, bayside near the cruise terminal. It has beautiful views out its large windows and excellent fresh fish dishes. I went to lunch with friends. My wife said her fish and chips was the best she has ever had (and she has tried many in several countries). My fish chowder and my friend's broiled salmon were also very good. It is a bit expensive, but worth it.

Yelp
Arrived about 6 without reservation. Fitted the 3 of us in no fuss. Shared a mixed dozen oysters that were great. Main meal was local fish, mixed seafood and battered fish and chips. All excellent. House wine was good. All in all a good experience and we will be back. Staff very helpful.

Yelp
The food here is of very high quality. We started with the oyster platter. 2 and a half dozen oysters done different ways. All were good, some more then others, however, the quality of shucking was pretty poor, with all but a few of them having shell in the oyster. For mains the quail was a highlight, very well done. Panna cotta for dessert was excellent. Large wine selection as well with some great quality wine. Good views and excellent staff.

Scott W.

Yelp
Food was fair at best. Oyster were very small and the Kilpatrick was just bbq sauce and Coles bacon. The dinner roles were also supermarket basic straight out of the pack. Was an approximation of what someone in back of house thinks fancy food is like.

Yelp
Not safe for people with celiac. I have celiac, my husband does not. We chose this restaurant because the menu had a number of GF (gluten free) and GFA (gluten free option with modifications) items. We ordered one GF and two modified GFA dishes. The person who took our order was very knowledgeable and explained what each modification was (dish 1: different sauce, no crumb topping; dish 2: different noodles, grilled mushrooms instead of tempura). However, we did not see her again and different people brought out the food. When the first GFA dish came out it appeared to be as described (no crumb topping) but it was impossible to tell by eye if the sauce was different. I ate about half of it, including something which I now believe to be a non-gf soy sauce or ponzu sauce in an agar (?) pearl. Then the GF dish and the other GFA dish came out. The server said "gluten free" as she set down the decidedly NOT gluten free GFA dish - there was tempura right on top! How could you miss this?? Obviously I didn't eat a bite of it, my husband ate that one. However clearly both of the allegedly gluten free GFA dishes were either contaminated or incorrectly made as I was up sick all night and have spent one of my precious vacation days feeling awful. As I said, the person who took our order clearly knew what she was doing, but there is either a communication problem in the kitchen or poor training amongst the other staff. Avoid this place if you have celiac.

Yelp
So many times as locals we have been the bums rush no booking available when the restaurant is almost empty or come back for second sitting as if not happy but love pearl restaurant down stairs

Yelp
The seafood platters were perfect. We could not decide on a wine, so the wine waiter gave us a wine tasting derived from what we said our palates liked. Three wines all delightful. We chose one, I will place a snap of the label. Our palate is quite sweet. The whole night was delightful, we were so well looked after. The view over the dock was an added bonus. We absolutely recommend this venue to you all.

Yelp
So good to find a seafood restaurant in Hobart that does lovely vegetarian meals. My husband was very impressed with his oysters and scallops and i was in heaven over the mushroom pasta with truffle oil. Really lovely waitress made the night perfect!

Yelp
After being seated, we were told that our table was reserved for later to another party and that we had 90 minutes to complete our dinner. We rushed through in an hour. They really know how to spoil a dinner. Would not return.

Yelp
We were not in Hobart for just one night and our ship recommended this place to us. It's truly a great spot. Service was perfect and the food delicious and the wine list was great. We unfortunately will never be able to return but if I could I would.

Yelp
Best meal we've had in Hobart so far! My husband got the seafood laksa and I had the ocean trout paired with delicious fennel. Started with oysters, grilled octopus and the seafood chowder (a must order item). The beer and wine selection had local offerings in a range of prices, and the service and atmosphere were perfect. We will certainly be back next time we visit Tasmania.

Yelp
Took the time to book but still didn't get a view even though the tables at the window were vacant the entire time. What is the point of a restaurant on the water if you can't see it. Menu was VERY limited for a seafood restaurant. More a fish and chip restaurant. Service was lacking.
google avatar

Suz P.

Yelp
Had another excellent meal at Mures upper deck. We shared the seafood laksa, the ocean trout dish, the octopus salad and the seafood chowder. Delicious is an understatement. The laksa was one of the best I've had and I am surprised to say that as I find unless a restaurant has a Thai chef, the laksa can be a bit meh. The trout was amazing and I don't eat octopus but my friends said it was dynamite. For me, the chowder was the winner. I've tried chowders all over Australia and I still think Mures is the best. Perhaps it's the bacon as it gives it an amazing smoky flavour. Also of note was the wine list and the service. We were looked after well and I will definitely return as soon as possible.

Yelp
A mainland client was interested in a seafood dinner and I had no hesitation in suggesting Mures Upper Deck. We were not let down and my client was equally impressed. We started with a combination of oysters for entree and these were fantastic. For mains the majority of us at the table went for the blue eye trevalla and scallops. Simply superb! The ambiance was warm and welcoming and the service was great. Can highly recommend Mures for a great dining experience.

Yelp
Frankly, I was disappointed by our meal here as compared to three years ago. It's expensive, and the view isn't the best in Tassie. Service is very good. Food is very good. But nothing was exceptional, at at their prices it should have been.

Yelp
We arrived unexpectedly half an hour before kitchen close and they welcomed us in and lowered a platform to allow myself and walker(spinal injury) to traverse to the top of the stairs with ease. We ordered and our 10 year old son had access to a children's menu of 3 items which though limited covered great options and his medium rare steak with salad was perfect and not at all a rubbish steak as some children's steak options are. Cooked perfectly and very tender. My husbands salmon was delicious and my salad fresh and crunchy. Though we were the last patrons in the restaurant we were happy to leave after mains however we were welcomed to order dessert and coffee and did not feel rushed to vacate at all. All the staff were lovely, food was devine and the atmosphere welcoming and quietly relaxing. A new member of staff noticed my son discussing the art on the wall and we had a chat about it and what it could mean and he was personable and very welcoming as was our wait staff. Thankyou to everyone for making us feel special and I can't recommend you highly enough. Well done and I hope your Manager /Owners recognise what a wonderful team of people they have and value you all.

Yelp
Best seafood chowder I ever have. Excellent service and good atmosphere with nice harbor view.
