The campground’s location is excellent, especially if you’re a fan of kayaking. The area is exceptional for paddling around the small islands. However, the campground facilities are very outdated. The sites aren’t well maintained, the toilets and showers aren’t very clean, and the campground is a bit messy overall. There’s no place to swim due to algae. I would only recommend it if you’re planning to go kayaking. The location is truly outstanding for that.

Wonderful place to stay, and return to. Hosts are amazing. This is a quiet family campground with stunning views. We had site 5 and it was roomy and level. Suggest bringing your own drinking water as the potable water here is a little brown. Evening group campfires are the best! Excellent kayaking around the islands. Water is clear but cold. Watch for the porpoise off the dock!

Had a wonderful evening stay in one of the new dome that have recently added to the campground, and all I can say is wow! May stay there was so quiet and relaxing. And the view on the water made it evening better. Also the fact there was a small kitchenette included, it was nice that i didn't have to pack alot. Definitely will be staying there again!

We travelled with two adults and two kids ages 7 and 9. This place is amazing. It's quiet, private and very well maintained. Plenty for the kids to do. The staff are friendly and accommodating. We rented kayaks and it was absolutely beautiful. Would 100% recommend and will be visiting again for sure.

The weather was crappy but its such a lovely site it just makes it moody and beautiful. We love coming here because the views are gorgeous, the people are friendly and accommodating and free morning coffee is provided shoreside. We usually meet up round the communal firepit in the evening too but it was a bit wet for that this time. There are plenty of places to walk the dog and amenities are clean and well kept. My only piece of advice is to bring your own drinking water. Their well water is safe but doesn't look or taste great despite their best attempts. It's no hardship to bring a large jug of water for drinks though.

A tranquil campground right on the ocean. Kayaking was great. Murphy’s is located between two magnificent Provincial park beaches, Taylor Head (20 min) and Clam Harbour (30 min). A must see! This campground was very peaceful, clean and friendly.

Spot beautiful, people nice, campsites private and good size. Only thing is not enough staff. We were travelling for a little more than 2 weeks, we needed to do Laundry. When we checked in, the girl at the reception told us it wasn't possible to give the keys for now, to come back the next day at 8h00 am. So ok, I guess we will change the plans for the next day in order to do what we needed (travelling like we did meant we didn't have time to stay in the mornings). Next morning around 8h30 am we go to Laundry place next to bathroom, the same girl is there cleaning the bathrooms with Laundry room opened. We ask how it's working for Laundry, she says it's not possible right now because she is alone and to come back aroung 9h30 am. Now this was way too late to wait. And we were scared that if we did wait and went back at that time, another excuse would come up. So we just left in a hurry and found a place in Halifax to do our Laundry. So moral of the story; go there to sleep. Don't plan anything else.

Our guide, Ryan, took our group of four through this beautiful area. He spoke with pride how his family and others are trying to increase tourism while preserving the wilderness nature of the area. Tourism is a benefit and a curse, and the Murphys are working to strike a balance between the pristine wild islands and their appeal to visitors like us. Well worth the visit.

Yelp
Know before you go... Restrooms and showers are co-ed even though they easily could have been separate.

Yelp
This place puts me in a dilemma because I want to love this place!! Here are my favorite reasons this place is awesome. Seaside view, nice owners, nice restrooms and showers, a nightly campfire and mussel feast. Here are the reasons I have trouble liking this place. All of the reasons we stayed there were centered around activities we wanted to do Supposedly they offered boat scenic rides, fishing trips, mussel digs, fresh lobster for sale, fresh muscles for same and fresh bread for sale. None of this stuff was available when we arrived. It was its just us in a camper paying full price ad we had it's nothing to do for 2 days. We left early because of this reason. Total Suck

Yelp
I drove quite a ways to stay here, because the reviews I read made it sound like such a unique experience. I had a very different experience than what I've read. First, my site was at the bottom of a very steep, small hill. I felt like I was at the bottom of a fish bowl. Rather expensive for what it was, and I was kinda bummed that I had reserved and already paid for 3 nights. I'm not sure what the deal was, but the dude who runs the place (and people rave about), was pretty rude to me. Not sure if it's because I was a lone female, or what. His wife was very nice, but I felt like I wasn't in his clique or something. It was a weird place. I guess you gotta have an rv and a family to be approved of there. I travel all over the place, and most always make friends. Not there. I couldn't wait to get out.

Yelp
Very nice camping experience for us. Small and quiet. We rented a trailer for camping and we chartered the boat for a 1 1/2 h...2h tour and that was the peak of our vacation this summer ! If you don't own a boat I realized you miss out some of the most beautiful sights Nova Scotia's has to offer The islands were incredible! Thank you captain Murphy !

Yelp
This campground is good for what it is, but I can't recommend any more than one night unless you are literally there to do nothing (which is fine!! Just not what we were looking for). We had two nights paid for just so we could stay for the majority of the second day and we were so bored by noon after the first night that we packed up and left. Tent sites are very small, we were lucky to meet a nice couple next to us but also had a group of loud annoying young adults on the other side. The map they show on the website/what they send you when you reserve a spot is very misleading in size and the entire campground can be easily walked from one side to another in 10-15 mins. Anyone on here complaining about walking to the main washrooms are crazy as we were in the high 40s tent site, and I could walk to the washroom in 5 mins. We assumed there would be a spot to swim, there was not. If you enjoy just laying back and doing nothing then you'll probably have a great time. We were looking for something a bit more active, a walking trail, swimming, something. Also! If tenting, make sure you have some heavy duty spikes and a hammer as that ground completely ruined all our tent spikes cause you can't get through most of the ground. If I could, I'd give a 3.5.

Yelp
The drive from Halifax to the campground was nice and the only nice thing. We were excited to tent in this seaside campground. We paid for two nights before looking at the camp and greatly regret it because we would of never stayed 1 night. The restrooms were ok and very far from the tenting area, you would have to drive to the restrooms. They didn't offer boating or mussel feast because it was going to rain. When we got to our campsite it was soooo small, rocky with no view!. We pitch a tent anyways because they already had our money. Feeling very disappointed ! The sites are so small we had to park our truck in the vacant site next to us. There was no room for a screened picnic tent, which we needed because it was going to rain. The picnic table was completely rotten that we had to carry it to another site and pick up a better one. They had an out-house close by and when I went to use it......it was the most disgusting and unkept outhouse. SHIT piled to the seat.......it clearly hasn't been emptied in a long while, SHIT on the sit and no toilet paper. You couldn't use the out-house!!! We had a fire with their shitty wood and went to bed. No community fire!. Woke up and had a piss in the bush, packed up in the rain and left. This campsite is not worth the drive and money. Their website looks better than in real life. This place sucks!

Yelp
This campground sucks. Sites are in level, rocky, small and cramped. Nothing to do at this campground either.
