My initial intention was to leave a five star review, but in-spite of the negative way our stay ended at Murray Guesthouse, I have carefully decided to rate in the opposite direction...
We checked into MG around 9pm on a Weds night and departed at 5am on Thurs morning. We made nice with the owner and had plans to come back and stay at her hotel every time we came back to Chaudok to source clothes for our store, around 3-4 times x year. But, after a very long day of picking / shopping for items in the market when we came back to the hotel to gather our belongings, we requested to take a quick 5 minute shower before we had to take the bus back to Saigon and the owner fervently denied our request.
There were no other guests staying at the guesthouse, as there had not really been since the end of COVID. The owner gave us no other reason, besides "no" with the male staff saying the same and shaking his head. Again, there were literally zero other guests staying at the hotel on this day. Business is supposed to be two-way street and we did not feel like that was the case with Murray Guesthouse. It was a strange way to end our time here and for this, the three-star review.
But, I will say in all fairness, that the guesthouse was clean and centrally located and the mattress was comfortable enough for a nights rest, even though we will not be staying here again due to the aforementioned.
