Murray Hill Diner

A solid diner, good food with fast and friendly service. I had the Lumberjack waffles on my visit. The waffles were crisp, and a nice balance for eggs and Canadian bacon. Definitely a good addition to anyone's diner rotation.

Called in for our first breakfast of our tour of America..... with the snow starting to fall we tried Murry Hill, friendly and attentive staff, booth window seating, plenty of choice on the menu.... we chose French toast with eggs and sausage....also cornbeef hash with poached eggs.... hash tasted great poached eggs were cooked to 👌..... French toast was a little over on the edges, eggs a little snotty but tasted good... hot chocolate was beautiful..... good breakfast to start the day.

A great place! There's nothing like a New York diner. The service here is excellent; they're friendly and so attentive. Food tasted great and came out quickly. A quiet spot where you can have a nice conversation without having to yell over one another. Prices were a little on the high side, but you get what you pay for and this was well worth it! Highly recommend next time you're in the area!

On Friday 5 December 25, I accompanied my Friend on an appointment around East 34th St. After the appointment I suggested to My Friend that we stop by a Diner, that I had noticed on my way to her Medical Office. Murray Hill Diner Was Most Excellent. I really enjoyed the staff there, everyone was so warm and friendly.,so courteous. For my breakfast I ordered an Omelet with Cheddar Cheese, Sauteed Onions,and turkey sausage links on the side ,with a side order of home fries. The food was so delicious, The Cheese Omelette was a hugh portion, was so delicious. As being that I was so full, I decided to take the leftovers home. I had the leftovers the very next day, it was so delicious. Our server , Hector was so helpful,so courteous and so friendly and was professional in doing his job .....He is a hard working Latino who is from Mexico,and had such a wonderful personality. I must say that having had him As our Server ,Made our Dining Experience So Special,made my friend Vivian and I come to the conclusion that we must go back to Murray Hill Diner whenever we are in the area of Murray Hill.... I highly recommend this Diner to all,you definitely will not be disappointed., as a matter of fact, You are in for a treat , especially if Hector is your server.

Nice Oldschool Diner! We loved the Breakfast & Staff. Super friendly!! The Diner looks iconic and was exactly what we as Germans wanted so visit in the City. Greetings from Germany to the Diner Team

I love this diner! I've been coming here for a few years, and I really love that they have a huge menu with so many options. They have a bit of everything. Breakfast, sandwiches, waffles, pancakes, salads, burgers, soups, Greek and Italian dishes... My favorites are the Waffles (starting at $12), the thick chocolate shake ($9), the fresh lemonade ($5), and the pulled pork sandwich ($18). The servers are all really nice!

Murray Hill Diner…. Busy Diner.. I was amazed at the service that was provided by our waiter Hector who was exceptional. I highly recommend if you come here to let Hector be your waiter. Good food made in a timely fashion.

Ordered an egg and cheese on a roll here and it hit the spot! I really appreciated how the egg wasn't overcooked and how soft and warm the roll was. Looking forward to ordering from here again!

I ate here for a quick brunch around peak time, 12pm on a Saturday. For a group of 2, we were seated immediately at a booth. The restaurant was busy but they served us quickly. The omelette was tasty, and I ate half at the restaurant and took the other half to go. However, when I ate the omelette later I found eggshells in the omelette which made me lose my appetite to finish it. Probably wouldn't specifically choose this place again, but if I need a spot for a quick brunch I would consider trying something else on the menu.

Came here after a health issue at NYU hospital l. I was tired after being at the hospital and needed something hot and comforting. The burger deluxe hit the spot and the extra thick milkshake was also delicious. Service was friendly and efficient. I also liked that there are two restrooms for such a small seating area. It's also convenient to the 33rd street 6 train subway

This place is awesome!! the food was awesome. The service was awesome. I don't wanna keep using the word awesome but that's the only word I could keep coming up with. You have to try this place and the prices are wonderful as well. Ambiance awesome

Solid neighborhood diner! I needed something that wouldn't be terrible for me digest as I had just come from having a procedure done and ended up getting the avocado toast with soft poached eggs. The eggs were not runny, but I didn't mind. It had a ton of avocado, tomato and onions and I even appreciated how they cut off the tip of the toast! My partner had chicken fingers and fries. They were more like big chicken cutlets! Nicely fried, fries were hot. My partner also got a chocolate milkshake that was pretty well made. The portions were huge, service was friendly and prompt. Would come again!

A go-to local eatery that's reliably good. The beauty of a diner is the availability of almost any kind of food, regardless of time of day. This falls into play for me at breakfast. I'm not often in the mood for eggs, unlike T who's up for eggs any time, any day. So I ordered chicken salad on toasted white (a bread I rarely want) with lettuce and tomato. My husband ate what one would consider a traditional American breakfast. I remembered that Murray Hill does a particularly good job with pancakes. Service was good, coffee refills kept coming, and we left nicely fueled ready to start our day.

Came here on a Saturday afternoon for a classic NYC diner experience and was not disappointed. There was a short wait and once we sat down the service was fast and attentive. Great diner!

One of our fav diners in the neighborhood. The ambiance is friendly and service is great. Love many things on the menu but Italian and greek part is the best. Tried their Moussaka and greek wrap which were both great! Serving size is good. Indoor seating available.

Reliable as always. Dropped by to grab a moussaka because I had a craving. It looked too saucey when I opened the container, but it's actually really good. Decent for a diner.

Typical diner with typical diner fare with typical diner accommodations with typical noise level. So the answer is, typical. Like most diner menus, lots of choices. When I go to a diner, it's either eggs or burgers. Today was for breakfast so I indulged on a "Murray Hill Omelette " Bacon, sausage, ham....solid choice. Rye toast buttered and jellied. Coffee, bottomless cup. Arriving after 12, place was crowded with the Sunday breakfast crowd but was still seated right away. Waiter came right over took my order right away. Returned fairly quickly with my ok coffee. In a few blinks my eggs, home fries and toast arrived. Only 2 individual servings of butter. Needed more which I procured pretty quickly from a bus boy who brought me water. Waiter was on top of making sure my coffee cup was full. Unfortunately he forgot to bring more moo juice. But after asking, more was in my hand fairly quickly. Overall good choice for diner food experience. Would go back if in the neighborhood

No frills diner. Everything you'd expect from a typical diner, nothin more, nothing less, and they're good at it. Very friendly staff, good food, good portions, good sandwiches. Would stop by again after work.

The Murray Hill Diner is an excellent spot for breakfast and they have a nice brunch menu available until 3PM. They have the usual full spectrum diner menu good for lunch and dinner, but I admittedly come here for breakfast and brunch most often. You'll know you're in the right spot, given all the locals who pack the place. It's a busy diner. I had one disrespectful interaction during the pandemic with someone I had never seen before and never since, but service is as friendly as a crowded place allows. Just be decisive on your menu selections and your results will be a lot better here and that goes for all of NYC. I most often order the three eggs deluxe off their brunch menu. You can and should specify how and the degree to which you want your eggs cooked. It comes with toast, hash browns, ham, sausage and bacon, as well as coffee or tea and juice or mimosa after noon. That is a great breakfast that can really hit the spot if you were out the night before. That will top off most people. Sometimes I order a short stack on the side and for good measure to round things out for your sweet tooth. Their pancakes are pretty good and leave you wondering how great they could be with real maple syrup... The brunch menu used to be an outstanding bargain, with that three eggs deluxe coming in at fourteen or fifteen bucks. Now at twenty two bucks and aligned with the other brunch price points, it is still okay, but this is what has happened everywhere. Local people continue to pack out the Murray Hill Diner. It's clean and they operate efficiently to handle the volume. Three solid stars!

Came in early Sunday morning on New Years day, free street parking was the best part! We ordered the normal breakfast sandwich and the 3 egg platter. Nothing too flashy just an ordinary breakfast. What was dramatic was the loud "disagreements" the manager had with one of the employees. It should have been taken out of the dining area and discussed more professionally. Not a good way to run business in front of customers.

Walked here from our hotel after long flights for dinner. There are 8 of us so they put us in 2 booths next to each other. Everyone was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Menu was large and varied. Chicken Marsala was ordered by one, shared the salad he had with another, another had tuna salad with potato salad and coleslaw by another and he ate everything! Loved the tuna, I had another had Greek salad with egg salad which half was taken back to the room and ate the leftovers in front of the tv. Coffee was first rate food was very good we all ate well left with full tummies and ready for sleep. Couldn't have asked for better!!!! Thanks for everything and for treating us like family!!!

Everything was great. The food was thoroughly covered. As far as choices goes places. Clean service was good. I would definitely come back here.

03/13/23: Day in the office looking for something quick and healthy before meeting. Decided to check out the diner and grab a grill chicken salad. Other diners burgers and fries almost made me rethink my salad. Not a large diner but it pretty busy with customers coming and going. Cute bar stool setup along with booths. As for the salad. Not bad it's a decent serving but for $23 bit steep even for Manhattan. Note to self if I decide to return to remember no onions. If you are an onion lover you will be in heaven. All in all decent salad.

This place has a lot of mediocre reviews, but I think most of them are from people who forget what a New York city diner is meant to be. like most diners, the menu VERY long, but that doesn't mean every dish is going to be fantastic. Any given diner you go to is going to have certain dishes that are great and other ones that are just fine and it's up to you to figure out what fits your standards. Personally, I loved both the grilled cheese deluxe platter, and the buffalo chicken wrap that we had. We also had a black and white shake, which was very good. Service was pretty quick, and our waiter was very nice and the restaurant was clean. Only negative I would say is that this place isn't open super late which might actually be a good thing because I would be going way more often if it was.

Murray Hill Diner is the neighborhood diner but it's one of the best diners I have been to. The options are endless, the food is delicious, and the servers are awesome. 10/10 recommend. You won't leave disappointed.

Came in to the city for some errands, was craving pancakes. Stopped here to be greeted with a joyous good morning and hello. Pancakes and eggs were perfectly cooked and delicious. Space is old neighborhood feeling many guest and staff speaking to one another in a familiar way. Makes you feel welcomed and comfortable. This spot is now on My to come to when in NYC.

An updated review, 12 years later. I still live around the corner, and I still have avoided this place, but with so few diners in the post pandemic world, why not. Surely they have improved in 12 years right?? Wrong. The best thing about this place was the cool neon. now THATS gone. And I really have given it a fair shake. 2 recent visits in person. 3, maybe 4 takeout orders of different things. (I'm REALLY trying here. I want to like this place) We are talking about the basics here. (in the case of my orders, Eggs, pancakes. bacon, lasagna, Fried chicken, meatloaf, mashed potatoes, succotash, chocolate cake, carrot cake, broccoli, side salad and the like) I am not a restaurateur. Nor am I a cook, so I cant exactly say how difficult it is to make these items, but the basics are turned out here devoid of flavour. This is the M103 bus line of diners. The one you go to because you don't know, or don't care, or feel you want to take the scenic route, not necessarily the most pleasant. It is cute and charming and adoringly old school and is that a reason to go? Maybe. A lot has happened in 12 years. A few Presidents, mayors, a global pandemic, and I got older. As such, I take solace in a certain comfort in a lack of change. This is the sort of place that could stand a little behind the scenes TLC. Dont update how this place looks please. Just make the food better. I will try again in another 12. I am sure they will still be in business. Bewilderingly

Great food, service and atmosphere. My salmon was perfect and my son opined the disco fries were the city's best. It's a diner yet a good one!

Didn't take pictures. Nothing was noteworthy enough for my taste to do so. The fried fish sandwich was fresh enough but not moist enough. I had a cheese omelet... just ok. I have other diners I enjoy the quality of more. Not worth a repeat visit.

Bought a bacon egg and cheese to go. It was $10.80. Got to the office opened bag and it looked like the aluminum foil was previously used( that's got to be a health hazard). The roll looked like crushed and it barely had bacon. I GUESS THATS ACCEPTABLE TO THEM. I guess they figured I wouldn't realize until I got elsewhere.

Meh. The grits had no flavor, I don't think they were cooked with salted water. Definitely no butter or milk/cream was used The eggs were ok, but it's hard to ruin eggs. The bacon was very crisp. So just a basic ~ nothing to write home about meal. But will I go again? Nope!! Because they charged a fee for me using my cc on a nearly $40 bill?! I can see if it was less than $15, but I'd think at $40 I shouldn't be charged a fee?!

Service, terrible. Food, disgusting. I had home fries and they were barely cooked. Some of the chunks were cold. Aside from this, the eggs Benedict over corned beef hash looked like dog food out of a can. The taste was even worse. I took one bite and thought the meat was going to give me food poisoning from being undercooked. The waiter didn't even ask how our food was. I'll never be coming back here, this place needs to figure it out.

The food was great, but what stood out here was the staff. Incredibly friendly and attentive. I have not had such excellent service living in NYC for many years. Kudos to the staff; I hope management does all they can for their retention.

Charging for soda refills has suddenly appeared. With my background in customer service at a major telco, nickle and diming customers is a terrible way to sustain customer relationships. No matter what your business justification is customers do the math in their heads very very quickly, and begin to identifying the establishment as either failing or cheap On a two person lunch with a $80 plus tab I was hit for refills on a Diet Coke. I was insulted and likely will not return. This is sad because the food is otherwise reliable diner food with good service.

Perfect little diner with exactly what we needed. Comfort food in a quick and easy setting. Loved my omelet, drinks were filled up fast and even the salads and sandwiches were credible. Thanks!!

The service was quick and friendly, but the quality of the food, even by diner standards, was terrible. Apart from the water, I'm not sure if anything was real. Eggs were bland and dry. Bacon looked like it was compressed something, but not pig! Pancakes were at best Aunt Jemima quality. I had such a headache afterwards from all of the additives and preservatives that I had to take Advil when I got home. And wasn't even cheap!!! $70 all-in for two breakfasts, two coffees, two tiny orange juices.

A great diner close to our hotel - we came to kill some time on our last day, between check out and time to go to airport. The hostess seated us right away in a booth and brought menus & waters. My granddaughter had a strawberry mango shake & strawberry french toast. I had a cup of coffee and a grilled cheese, with muenster & tomato. Our server was great & attentive, and wrapped up my half sandwich I didn't finish. Both restrooms were out of order. :-(

This is the best diner to eat in I've found in Manhattan! Friendly staff, delicious breakfast food. One of the best waffles I've ever had. Fruit bowl had quality fruit, not just grapes and melon. XL eggs cooked to a perfect over-medium. We're from DC and wish we had something like this in our hood. Will be back chance we get.

I love Murray Hill Diner, even if sometimes they're not perfect. The food is above standard New York Diner / Coffee Shop fare. Coffee is great - real old school NYC coffee. The fries are perfect - always ask for them to be well done. Eggs and omelets are always great. My kids love the burgers. Minor issue right now, whoever is packing the burgers for delivery, does not know which side is the top of the bun, and they are packing them to-go upside down, causing the top of the bun to become saturated with grease. Hopefully the packer starts doing it the right way soon. The spinach pie is great as is the chicken parm. The eggplant parm platter and/or hero, not so good unfortunately. I eat here once a week and get delivery from here weekly too.

Was strolling to the movies an hour early and wanted dinner first. Found this spot courtesy of Yelp as it is located off the beaten path as most neighborhood gems. Customer service stood out the most. My server was most attentive. Precise with my order. Polite. The service gave this diner a homey feel. Although the fare was typical diner food, solid in terms of fresh and flavorful, the thing to brag about is the portion size. Bang for your buck is the only way to describe it. I was only able to eat half! Nice to know places like this that do not burn a hole in your pocket still exist.

The restaurant was pretty much full when we arrived for breakfast. Despite that the service was both really good and dripping with personality. Could not ask for better more personable service. The food was pretty much standard breakfast fare, we both had omelettes which were decent, as were the potatoes and coffee. Not bad, not great, its a local diner. I do have to comment on the salsa, it was unlike anything I have ever seen before. It had the consistency of tomato paste, and was the one food item I thought was not good (I did use most of it, so it was not bad either). If you are looking for a local diner for a fairly priced 'good enough' breakfast, you can't do better than Murray Hill diner.

When you've had enough of samey, trendy hip coffee shops, find yourself in need of a good old-fashioned, timeless diner, this is the spot for you. Nothing frou-frou, no airs, just a sit-down joint offering a cup o' Joe, all the classic comfort foods, and efficient service.

Good breakfast and good service. They kept our coffee cups full for sure. Hearty portions, but the booth seats are a little cramped, Waiter was super attentive. They did mess up our order though and gave my friend an omelet with cheese. Since I didn't have cheese on mine, I just exchanged breakfast with him.

Amazing service, really nice diner food and cozy location. Better than other diners in the area for sure. I would order take out all the time if I lived in the area. Great great staff!

If you want a neighborhood diner experience you'll get one at the Murray Hill Diner. The menu offers your basic breakfast options -- omelettes, pancakes etc. The food was decent but this wasn't the best breakfast we've ever had. The prices were reasonable and the service was quick. Stop in if your in the area and want something quick.

I visited the Murray Hill Diner at 10/20. Quaint, clean with friendly staff. Turkey Club was good with crisp fries, a little coleslaw and a dill pickle. My mother had the pancakes which she noted were really good and served with plenty of bacon. Nice stop in NYC for breakfast or a quick bite.

Went there 2 times. Great breakfast. Super nice lady and good service . Coffee served unlimited. Enjoyed my breakfast. A little bit crowdy inside. If it is hot, i can tell you it is hot inside . Apart from that, I was happy with the food.
