Murray's hospitality is genuine; there's no slick falseness here, nor is there any intrusion into one's space, just a reassuring presence, on hand and available to answer any query, fulfill any need. One feels very much like a guest in the Murray family home, rather than in an hotel, and every encounter with each one of the great team at Murrays', is one of warmth and friendship. Many simple kindnesses are shown, making one feel truly welcome and at home.|The bed in our room (we often have the same dog-friendly Room 21, as we bring our little dog with us) is huge, and so, so comfortable, with lovely pillows, and crisp linen. The housekeeping staff are so attentive, and accommodating, ensuring our every comfort was provided.|The food at Murray's is always excellent. Murray's breakfasts are well known and most highly regarded; many people staying elsewhere on the island have been known to breakfast at Murrays! Top tip: order poached eggs; they're perfect every time! |One single menu serves the bar, sunporch, and restaurant, with plenty of choices to suit all tastes. Outstanding seafood is a speciality. At the time of our most recent visit, a new Head Chef was, as they say: "knocking it out of the park" and we had stunning dinners all week. The bar is the home of some of the best traditional music sessions you're ever likely to hear, with outstanding Bofin musicians to the fore, along with visting musicians from the mainland, and abroad.|In summary, Murray's is a family establishment, and if you're sound and respectful of the fact that you're sharing their beloved homeplace for the duration of your stay, you may get to feel like a member of the family. We’ve been visiting Bofin for over twenty years and have stayed and/or eaten in Murray’s many times. Our five night stay in September certainly lived up to our expectations (which were high). We were welcomed on the pier by Andrew and driven to the hotel to be welcomed again by Donna and Megan. Even though we were a few hours early for check-in we were shown immediately to our room. It was spacious and spotless, with lovely toiletries and white fluffy towels. The power shower was amazing. ||What makes Murray’s special is the friendliness and at the same time high professional standards of the staff. The food is wonderful and very good value. The location is spectacular, with amazing sea views. The bar has the best of traditional and often eclectic music. A great place to stay or just visit to enjoy the food and lively bar atmosphere.

We stayed again assured of a warm, homely welcome and staff that pay attention and are always more than happy to help. The hotel is spotless and even the older rooms have a very specific attraction. The atmosphere is lovely and friendly. The food is very, very good (though I miss the old brown bread.) I recommend the Featherblade of Beef is you are a meat eater. This really is one of the best places I have ever stayed and return to again and again. Assured of the high standards. The values are old fashioned hospitality, warmth, kindness and lighthearted crosswords in the very cosy bar. Lovely music some nights with “the Four Alaskan Songwriters” there for two of the nights we stayed. I cannot say enough good about the Doonmore. Even on a wet day,of which there were none on this trip as it happens, the cosy layout and atmosphere reassures as well as the magic of the constantly changing seascape. A true find and so very well run by Andrew and Donna. Getting from the boat to the hotel see less.

My family and I (4 of us) stayed in the Doonmore Hotel for 5 nights. The rooms were recently refurbished providing a very nice beach style aesthetic. The rooms were spotlessly clean and the beds are extremely comfortable. What really makes the Doonmore a special place is the people. The atmosphere the staff create around the hotel is nothing short of magical. There’s nowhere like it. From the moment we got off the boat until we reluctantly stepped back onto it, we were greeted with friendly smiles, good laughs and a warm service. Of course all these warm interactions with staff are intermingled with ordering some of the best food and drink the west coast of Ireland has to offer. Fresh seafood and creamy Guinness are just too hard to go past whether you are heading to the north beach or the beautiful beaches in the west quarter. Finally (and it would be remiss for me not to mention) the music. Just when you think you can’t eat or drink another morsel, you step into the hotel bar where you will be met with great live music sessions that will kick start a second wind in even the most tired of us after a busy day cycling, swimming and exploring the island. ‘Go on, I dare you to go to bed’ Thank you to Andrew, Donna and all the brilliant staff at the Doonmore hotel for the best holiday. Wonderfully charming in every way. The warm hospitality is welcoming, the rooms are simple but have everything you need and the food is fantastic. Unfortunately, there wasn’t music the night we were there but we had stunning weather. The hikes around the island are about as authentically Irish as you can get. Unbelievably beautiful place! Wish we would have stayed for two nights to really take it all in.

We enjoyed a 2-night stay on Inishbofin and although Murray’s didn’t have an available room and we stayed at another nice place down the road, some close friends were staying at Murray’s and we opted to meet them there for lunches and dinners, all of which were very good. The drinks are cold, food quite nice and satisfying, and staff very attentive and helpful. Special thanks to Grace, Shannon, Danielle and Laura for their helpful and cheery service as well as good suggestions. We hope to stay at Murray’s next time!

The room was modern and clean and spacious enough but the real 5 star rating is the staff, from Andrew and Donna and all their staff who are top class and seem to genuinely enjoy their work. Food from the restaurant was beautiful both evenings and the small bar usually has live music every night, giving a real lively fun vibe. This was my second time staying and it's my go to hotel on the island.

We had such an amazing stay here. Donna and Andrew were so lovely, helpful and informative. They had our room ready for us as we arrived, which was perfect because we needed a nap before heading out on one of the several beautiful walks. Comfy bed, cozy atmosphere and delicious food. Exceptional waiting staff service and a fabulous music sesh. We were so disappointed to leave! We'll definitely be back and be booking further in advance because it's clearly the place to be so fills up quickly. Thank you again!
