"More so than most places, Switzerland offers serious skiers the chance to fly down unblemished mountainsides—especially in Mürren. The town is blessed with powder-packed bowls that maintain fresh snow for days after a big fall, drawing backcountry fanatics from all over the world. Take the cable car up the Schilthorn to find various opportunities for challenging off-piste skiing. Just to be sure to bring a guide along."

Yelp
PROS: The views are spectacular. I mean, wow! Service was nice, overall, and pretty good. Another positive is that the menu notes allergies! As a celiaque, I truly appreciate this. CONS: We had to ask for a menu when the waiter came by to take our order. He brought 1 menu for 2 of us. I guess they ration here. I had to go and get a second menu for myself. We overheard another table asking for another set of silverware. Apparently, they charge for extra silverware (perhaps a sharing charge would be more appropriate). You are allocated silverware and 1 small paper napkin. We were put off from asking for another paper napkin. They also charge 5 CHF for a carafe of water. This was off-putting. I mean, we ordered 2 full meals. Water being charged was really a money grab at that point. My husband's hamburger was from a frozen patty. Which is OK , but not for what they charge. My roti was ok as well. Food quality, taste, and value take last ranking place from all we have eaten on our European trip. Finally, I'm not sure I liked being asked to leave a tip when they bring the bill and payment box. I recommend that you come here for the views, and order a couple of drinks. Pass on food and water. By the way, I overheard the waiter tell the next table there is a minimum 30 CHF charge for credit card use, and they do not accept Amex. Just an fyi.

Yelp
A lovely rainy day in the mountains spent with vegetable soup, potato rosti, a view and the best service!

Yelp
We didn't stay here but planned to eat dinner here one evening on the outdoor terrace. Unfortunately it had rained and they closed it (thought wasn't raining at the time) so we ordered takeaway as we don't eat inside because of the huge COVID surge. My family is all vegan and the restaurant had a number of vegetarian options noted on the menu, but only one of them was vegan so that was our only option. The lentil curry was delicious and actually a good sized portion for the price, so we were pleased with that but would love to see more vegan options (or vegetarian options that can be made vegan).

Yelp
Amazing views and excellent food. This is a great spot to enjoy an evening cocktail or dinner as the sun goes down. Absolutely wonderful experience.

Yelp
7/13/2024 - We arrived here today via many small train rides and a lift here. We located this restaurant for the view but we didn't have a good view. We ordered a pizza and a spaghetti. The pizza was good and we split it. They actually cut the pizza in half and served ours separately. I loved that. The spaghetti was very plain and below average. We ordered their homemade apple strudel and were hoping for something spectacular. It was subpar. Go here for the pizza and a table by the windows for the view. Anything other than no view I would skip this place. About 60 Swiss Francs. Please see the photos. This place takes cards and cash for payment. They do not take AMEX, but cash and MC or Visa.

Yelp
RESTAURANT REVIEW: I had the Swiss Pork Steak, with I would refer to as pork schnitzel. It was a lightly coated piece of pork, with noodles and vegetables. My wide had a large mixed salad, and a bowl of Hungarian Goulash, which was more of a meat-based soup. We both enjoyed the meals. For dessert, we split a piece of apple strudel on vanilla cream sauce that looked better than it tasted. Service was professional, but not particularly friendly. Two qualifiers to this restauant: 1. The view from outside would be a 85 on a scale of 1 to 5. It's just not possible to have better view of the mountains. 2. We were charged 5 Francs (almost $6.00 for TAP water (NOT) bottled water. I don't remember seeing this on the menu, and the waitress just shrugged when I questioned it. Keep in mind, this is a town that has flowing water spigot of water from the mountains. Restaurants need to stop having needless charges that tend to ruin the experience.

Yelp
Great food, service and that view?!? OMG. Slept well and the location provided easy access to the village itself, train station, cable cars. Lovely hotel.

Yelp
Gracious wait staff on stunning outdoor terrace with traditional Swiss dishes. A welcome surprise while walking down the Main Street in town

Yelp
Delicious food, amazing staff and the room had a Million dollar view! We would definitely recommend to check this place out. From the giant rain shower shower heads to the perfect continental breakfast, this place is perfect. The staff made several recommendations that were 'golden' and were able to meet several special requests.

Yelp
Hopping off the train on a drizzly afternoon, we walked out into beautiful Mürren! Hotel Edelweiss is perched on the edge of a cliff and overlooking an unbelievable scene of snow-capped peaks and mountains, clouds, para gliders, and deep valley. It has a lovely restaurant, a less formal restaurant and an outdoor patio. Our room had a view out to the mountains that was spectacular. The bed was comfy and there was plenty of storage for bags and clothes. It's a special place to stay!

Yelp
After a hike on a cold foggy morning, we enjoyed a bowl of tasty goulash and a cold drink. Service and food were excellent capping it off with an Apple strudel!

Yelp
I stopped by to have a beer. They served me wine instead. I returned the wine and asked for my very simple order which was their specialty, after all. They seemed very confused but finally managed to deliver something similar to what I ordered. The waitress never came back to check on me but I could see that Swiss travelers seemed to be getting great service. If you are non Swiss, you might not get the best service here or perhaps I just had bad staff on this one day. I won't be going back there.

Yelp
This place offers the most breathtaking views of the Swiss Alps! We were seated on the patio overlooking the mountains. The service was amazing. I ordered a Hawaiian pizza and my husband ordered the Swiss veal steak. Both dishes were delicious- high quality ingredients well put together. The entire experience was amazing. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Yelp
The best ice cream ever with a panoramic view of the Swiss alps!! Our server was friendly and the bathrooms are VERY clean, which we appreciated. I would come back here for food because I'm sure it's delicious based off of the ice cream we had. Note: You have to pay with cash if your bill is under 30CHF!

Yelp
This place could have served me a steaming turd on a plate, and I would still give it 5 stars based solely on the view! Luckily for me, the food was just as good as the view! I ordered a beef fillet with some potatoes and my friend ordered a venison fillet. Both come out mostly rare on a hot stone. You get to finish cooking the meat to perfection at the table while taking in the scenery. I thought the beef fillet was exceptional but the venison fillet was out of this world! The food is relatively pricey by American standards, but remember that this is a remote part of Switzerland and the $150 that we spent together was well worth it. Even if you are not hungry, I recommend stopping over and enjoying a beer with what is quite literally the most beautiful view in the world!

Yelp
I'm hiking from Liechtenstein to France Via Alpina which passes right by this hotel. As such it's super convenient. The owners are always present and will help you with all kinds of directions and advice. The food is good and the view... the view is unbelievable. Try to get a room facing the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau.
google avatar

Vibhav P.

Yelp
Of course you come here for the spectacular view, but the service here was warm and welcoming to boot. After a terrible experience at Hotel Oberland in Lautenbrunnen, the Edelweiss was just the answer. The restaurant and commons areas was spotless and pristine. And, the continental breakfast was just as good as the view. At a minimum, stop in for the view and enjoy a drink!

Yelp
I had the pork schnitzel and it was so good. To top everything off, we got to sit on the porch overlooking the valley. No way I will ever have a better view for dinner. My wife enjoyed her pizza for sure, but I highly recommend the schnitzel and the apple streusel. Wow !!! So good. Best place in Murren

Yelp
After seeing a glorious photo of the view from this Hotel, I decided I had to make the journey to Mürren and see it myself. To get here, first take the gondola from Lauterbrunnen and then take the short train ride from Grütschalp. From the train station in Mürren it's only a few minutes of walking to the Hotel. We were seated immediately, and our server introduced himself. Very friendly chap. We confirmed that we each wanted a liter of beer, and he seemed amused by this. Well, it was a magnificent spot to drink some beer after all! We also ordered a hamburger. How American of us. Without a doubt, this was the best view I've ever eaten in front of. The Eiger rises majestically out of the clouds, and we had a great time watching numerous para-gliders launch down into the valley below. Cold beer, good food, friendly service, not terribly expensive, and views to die for. A perfect afternoon.

Yelp
Great location to enjoy your meal while sipping in breathtaking views of the Alps. The service at the restaurant was poor. Our waitress was actually rude. I'll be back at Mureen but not eating here for sure.

Doris S.

Yelp
We went here for lunch after our hike. Our food was great - they even substituted salad for fries with my veggie burger, and split my kid's pizza. Our server was friendly towards us. However, I observed the same server being extremely rude to a Saudi Arabian family sitting next to us. The wife of the family was confused about the menu, and instead of helping, the server basically told the woman very rudely that she needs to read the menu herself. The woman was so upset she actually left the table. I am posting this review as to inform the manager to instruct his staff better. I was appalled to witness this incident. Oh yeah, and they charge $5 for tap water.

Yelp
The view from our balcony was a 5-star view! From my bed, I had great views of the Eiger and Jungfrau. Every morning and evening, it was such a pleasure to see the majestic mountains and peer down into the valley floor below. It felt surreal to be there. We had just come from two 5-star hotels (Park Hyatt Vendome and Four Seasons) where we had the utmost luxury in our rooms and bathrooms. The Hotel Edelweiss was a super nice and comfortable chalet-atmosphere, plus it was very clean. I'm not able to give it a five stars due to the amenities from the other hotels that we stayed at. The bathroom had a full size tub and a tiny shower which had two doors that closed into a square cubicle. However, the water pressure and heat made up for how small it was! I had great showers in there despite the size. There was continental breakfast that came with the rate, which was good. Good way to start the day in the mountains. The location of this hotel is very convenient to the train station to go down to Lauterbrunnen and about a 7-minute walk to the cablecar up to Schilthorn. There's also a Coop (food market) down the street. Everything in Murren is pretty easy to get to.

Yelp
Situated in a tourist area of mitten. Sat on patio to have a late lunch. Leek soup, rosti, & beer. Excellent view of mountains & valley below. Price moderate. Highly recommend.

Yelp
The food was just okay --pizza was very salty and they microwave their strudel instead of heating it up in the oven. The view is absolutely breathtaking but be prepared for pretty bad service.

Yelp
It is the second time my family visit Murren. Last time we stayed at the Hotel Eiger which have given us a wonderful memory. To my surprise, it is even better in some aspect for Hotel Edelweiss, especially for the meal. They are very warm hearted and nice. The breakfast is wonderful, very tasty cold-cut and others. For the dinner, I would recommend the fish with rice.
google avatar

Yelp
By far the best Rosti in Murren and probably the best Rosti in Switzerland. Best view on the planet too!
google avatar

Jak Leroy D.

Yelp
My review is based solely on their amazing patio. My fiancé and I stayed next door at the Hotel Alpina for a week and frequented Edelweiss's patio for coffee/cider/beer quite often during our stay in Murren. The view is incredible!! 6,000ft up in the Swiss Alps having a meal and/or drink is pretty amazing. The waitresses are very friendly, and they offer you a faux fur seat cover that will keep you very warm while sitting outside. Such a nice touch. They do also have inside seating, but who would ever want to sit inside with a view like that? Check this place out if you are in the Murren area. It's a must see!

Yelp
Stayed at this hotel and are here a couple times. Service was amazing, views are phenomenal, and the food was delicious. We ordered pizza and it was great!

Yelp
the view at the restaurant is absolutely breathtaking. it almost looks fake everytime you look up. the cheese fondue was amazing and a relatively good sized portion. the bread that i comes with splits into perfect bite sized pieces easy to dip into the cheese pot. the house salad dressing was also very good. highly recommend this place for a lunch break after traveling on gondolas and trains up the mountains!

Casie M.

Yelp
The view was well worth the trip!! If you can time it when it's sunny, eating outside is the BEST ever!!! Food was good too. We had the cheese fondue and soup and really enjoyed it!

Ryan B.

Yelp
We had a rough trip and they were the only restaurant open. The food was fine and the fondue was fine but for the price I would have expected more.

Kathy R.

Yelp
Last evening our family of four had a wonderful meal of steak, pizza, Schnitzel and salad. The food was excellent. Our waitress had little patience. When my husband struggled to choose a beer, she rolled her eyes. After the chef brought our food she never returned to check on us. We asked her for butter, which she never brought. When our teenage son requested ice cream, she said "now?", my son apologetically placed his order with the long suffering waitress. The food was great but server left a dismal pall, over what would otherwise have been, a fabulous evening.

Yelp
This is the most amazing place! The hotel is clean and charming with breathtaking views. The hosts are kind and welcoming. The dining is not great but the ambiance makes up for it ten fold. Prepare to spend $30 on cafeteria like salad. The hiking around Murren is unbelievable! Mountain views amongst the cattle grazing in meadows. It is truly a hidden treasure.

Monica S.

Yelp
I agree, the views are amazing...but if you are paying $20 for a hamburger and $25 for a small fondue you want it to at least be decent. We had a large party of 8 and most were disappointed. The hamburgers were processed meat patties, the fries were frozen ones you buy in a plastic bag and deep fry. The edelweiss burger also disappointed. The fondue was a bit greasy and came with bread only. We ate at another restaurant in Murren the night before and got bread, vegetables, and potatoes with it and it cost less. This is just a mediocre tourist trap that serves good views only. There are not a lot of choices in Murren but I think you can do better.

Yelp
Views are exceptional, food has slightly above average moments. First, accept the fact that food in this town is very expensive compared to many other towns and cities. You are really paying for the view and experience. This hotel restaurant was recommended by Rick Steves and we found that only Americans (probably who saw the same recommendation) were eating there at the same time as us. We ordered the steak and tomato cream soup. The steak was mostly flavorless but the herb butter sauce made it very tasty. The tomato soup came with whipped cream on top, which we thought was weird but once mixed...it was very good. Now comes the surprise... We asked for tap water since after all we are in the Swiss Alps with the best water. A glass pitcher was brought to our table and later on the bill, a 1.50 Swiss Franc PER PERSON charge. Come on! A basic human courtesy that every restaurant in a developed country should offer for free is tap water ESPECIALLY when there is a public spicket outside for tourists and locals of this freely flowing water. It's the principle.

Yelp
Great place to stay in Murren. Amazing views & friendly staff. The only catch is the showers are pretty small, but other than that, pretty nice place.

Yelp
Everything you want in a hotel. The best view in Murren, fantastic dining, family operated. The staff treat you like family from the moment you walk in the door. Also one of the most modern hotels in Murren

Chris R.

Yelp
This was an absolutely fantastic hotel. Everything about the stay was perfect, from the location near the train station to the room itself. The views of the Swiss Alps is breathtaking...it was worth it just to be able to sit on the balcony and enjoy the view. The restaurant was amazing, the staff was beyond friendly and accommodating. We'll definitely be heading back to Mürren and staying again.
