Google
A lovely small museum in the heart of Colmar. Great way to learn about Bartholdi’s life and see models of his famous works, including the Statue of Liberty. The visit is not long but very interesting and well organized. Definitely worth a stop!

Google
So much wonderful information about the oeuvre of this sculptor, who was a local boy made good and much more than the creator of the Statue of Liberty. But isn't that enough? A scale model of Lady Liberty graces a traffic circle outside of town, too.

Was treated poorly by the receptionist. Sad, ruined the experience. She thought she was being clever but was rather demeaning. Worst thing is she represents Colmar to the world. Museum was interesting but very simple. A few models of the artist work and some photographs that are available online. The most interesting areas were his studios and recreated rooms.

Google
Great little museum giving a fascinating insight into the famous son of Colmar - "Auguste Bartholdi". Naturally there's a big focus on his most famous work "The Statue of Liberty" and there are many exciting details and photos of it's design, construction and transport to America. The house itself is the birthplace of Bartholdi and is very well kept in the original period style. It has a great collection of pieces and samples and is not too big or overwhelming for children. We had a great time and the whole family learned alot.

Google
The 5 euro entry fee is definitely worth it, as the museum provides enlightening insights into Bartholdi, Colmar, and the region. Located in the birthplace of Auguste Bartholdi, which was bequeathed to the town in 1907, the museum spans three levels dedicated to this iconic 19th-century artist, known for creating the Statue of Liberty and the Lion of Belfort. Inaugurated on November 18, 1922, it houses an impressive collection of sculptures, paintings, drawings, photographs, sketches, and models. Recognized as a Museum of France, the building was awarded the "Maisons des Illustres" label by the Ministry of Culture and Communication in 2011.

Google
Nice museum, bigger than I expected. Focuses on Bartholdi’s life and work, especially the Statue of Liberty. I really enjoyed it.

Google
Nice museum if you're interested in Bartholdi and his life. I wish they would translate more descriptions in English. It's disappointing to pay for a ticket and have most descriptions in french only!

Google
For students, they let you tour the place for free. And it has such value and so much to see. It is infact the creator of the Statue of Liberty's house. Bartholdi, a great sculptur and great artist. Made my visit in colmar worth it.

Yelp
The birthplace of sculptor Auguste Bartholdi, the structure was updated and turned into a museum. Full of images and smaller sculptures and studies of the artists creations. You'll be thinking, why does that name ring a bell? Yes, Bartholdi is best known for having created the Statue of Liberty https://www.yelp.com/biz/statue-of-liberty-new-york-3?hrid=veIzZZ00bJOV6PjEGnFvOg and the Lion of Belfort https://www.yelp.com/biz/le-lion-de-belfort-belfort?uid=hWDybu_KvYLSdEFzGrniTw among other works. Expect to take about an hour to tour the three stories of furniture, models, paintings and photos. Note that the museum closes for lunch. [Review 21179 overall - 98 in France - 142 of 2024.]

Yelp
This outstanding museum was a pleasant surprise! It is housed in Bartholdi childhood home. He was born in Colmar and always had strong rooms and ties to this area. He was a humanist, artist and early ambassador to friendship between nations. He is most famous for Lady Liberty (1876) also know as the Statue of Liberty. That Statue is known around the world and welcomes people to the United States~the land of Liberty. This gift from France is the most famous piece of art in the world! His life, his art and his work are exhibited in this excellent museum!

Yelp
Excellent exhibit to see his early work and his most impressive pieces plus some paintings. Pick up a book in English or get the audio for 2euros, housed in his childhood home. A must see in Colmar.
