free, interesting, small museum. had fun with the interactive elements. very impressed by the library. nice building, friendly staff. free clean bathroom. but: all descriptive signs only in French - unpractical when trying to teach about history

If you appreciate art, this is a great stop for a few hours. There are no major masterpieces although the visit is pleasant and enriching. This museum contains pieces of ancient, modern and contemporary art. At the same time they also have archeological and ethnographical finds. The collection turns around the topic of the landscape, especially portraits by the school of artists in Lyon and from the Provence area. Very interesting the part related to the exploration of the Mediterranean Sea and its lands which includes views of the old oriental world. Don’t miss a visit to the library inside the museum. The staff was very kind. Each visitor is welcomed by someone with a printed leaflet of the exposition, not so necessary for me, but still appreciated. Recommended!

Lovely museum in a gorgeous building. When we visited, the permanent collection was upstairs with a visiting exhibit on the first floor. Charming little gift shop with very reasonably priced items. Entry is free… Convenient parking garage nearby such as Liberté. Super cool library on the second floor. Be sure to stop in and check it out.

Fantastic place! We visited the watercolor exposition with famous artists. Definitely worth the time. And the library reminds me of one in Paris

Interesting small local art gallery. Unfortunately contemporary section was closed. Fantastic art library upstairs with quite a few students studying.... on a Sunday! Would benefit from having a small cafe.

Small museum but quite amusing. Great for a rainy day or super hot afternoon ( AC inside). Library collection was interesting

The contemporary art collection is a real surprise. The concept is, each master has one piece to put in this collection, I’m really happy to see Broodthaers, and some American pioneers rarely seen in France such as sol lewitt, Donald Judd, Fontana etc. Library has an amazing book selection, staff are welcoming:)

The art is great quality and mostly about Toulon. Nice to see it as it was centuries ago. Library is cool, too.
