"If you happen to be of French descent, this museum will be of special interest—the interactive displays will help you trace your family heritage. But it's worth a visit even if you don't have French ancestors. Exhibits trace the history of Québec's francophone community, including their migrations to New England, the Canadian Prairies and beyond. You'll also learn about lost episodes in the history of New France, like the settlement of Cap Rouge, which existed for only two years (1541 to 1543) and was recently rediscovered. And see if you can peek inside the deconsecrated chapel within the museum. This lavishly restored space is mostly rented out for private events, but you can ask the guards to let you take a quick look."

Great museum and exhibits exploring an interesting topic not seen in many other places in such detail. Staff were polite and helpful. The space is great and well set up. Entry fee was reasonable and enjoyed free coat check as we went in winter. Hidden gem!

I've been there for 2 events and the place couldn't look more different. You can really customize the room to your needs. Lovely architecture and place to visit. A must to rent for your event.

Interesting enough multimedia presentation of the French presence throughout N America with a few facts unknown to me. Precious little in terms of period artefacts. Maybe of interest to the kids. The chapel is not very interesting, either.

Situated in the haute ville in front of Hôtel de ville, this museum is related to Musée de la civilisation and it develops some expositions related to French culture in North America. It is recommended to start on the upper floor and then go down to lower floors. I have done just the upper floor in an hour, but I took my time to see and listen to many video and audio materials that document and illustrate the expositions. Good to see clearly that French native speakers in Canada are not only Quebecois, but they are to find in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Manitoba, Ontario... In summary, nice museum, interesting expositions and every 1st Sunday of month free entrance for residents (temporal, permanent, citizens) of Canada.

It's a nice place if you want to learn about the importance of French cultures in North America. There are nice expositions and interesting objects from the French expeditions in Canada and USA.

My wife and I had a wonderful time at the museum. The audio visual displays were breath taking. I learned a lot about french speaking people in American.

I was here for a piano performance and it was incredible. The design of the cathedral, the ambiance, the acoustic. Just overall awesome.

Stunning location in the heart of Quebec City. It's a deconsecrated church. Was here for a conference, and other than the intense heat, the venue was beautiful.

Yelp
The museum exhibits themselves aren't anything to write home about, but the admission fee is worth it if you are able to join one of the tours. Only two other people joined the tour with me and sister, so it was essentially a private tour. Score! What makes the tour unique is that it takes you throughout the seminary grounds, rather than showing you stuff in the museum itself. The tour takes you to multiple buildings and up and down stairs, so if you have any accessibility requests, let the front desk know beforehand so they can check if the elevators in some of the older buildings are functioning. If you have an interest in architecture, history, or religion, you'll enjoy this tour! Definitely recommend this museum if you're able to make it on one of their tours. 3.75

Yelp
Despite its location in a busy and touristy area, the museum was quite empty when I went on a weekday afternoon in the summer. I took a guided tour, where I had the chance to walk through the seminary of Quebec and other special access places that are typically closed to the public. Definitely take the guided tour if you'll be visiting this museum because it's pretty cool and a lot more fun than the exhibits inside the museum. Get your money's worth! :) Since there were only two other people besides me and my sister on the tour, it was basically like a private tour. Call the museum beforehand to check when the tour hours are. Each tour takes 1.5-2 hours since you'll be walking around to different sites. The tour ends back inside the museum, but not at the main entrance where the tour started, so I was confused and found myself lost when trying to exit the museum back into the busy streets. The exhibits inside the actual museum building are pretty standard and in my opinion somewhat dry. However, they are quite educational and the exhibit "On the Road" explains the migration of the francophones (French-speakers). There are other exhibits as well such as "Mutations" that show some interesting art pieces.

Yelp
Was mostly empty and pretty hard to get to. The grounds are very pretty as well. Bottom floor was a nice collection of church artwork and old landscapes/other artwork from the early 19th century and mid 1800s. The 3rd and 2nd floor were both concerning to the actual name of the place, a history of the American French in the United States/Canada. Basically, it was a lot of very interesting facts but it felt too modern in comparison to the bottom floor. However, the history is there and i recommend it for those who want to learn more about the French people going to North America. Somewhat inexpensive for what it was. Good museum.

Yelp
They have a great chapel interior that u can visit that is more ornate than the chapels in QC ironically. Interesting exhibits in building annex. Came here as it was part of our museum pass.

Yelp
This little museum has some interesting exhibits centered on French-speaking Americans. It's not very large, nor are the exhibits particularly remarkable - but the admission fee is quite low ($7 for adults below 30, $10 for adults above 30), so I'd say it's worth a visit.
