Musée de l'Holocauste Montréal

Small museum, but with an impressive amount of information related to the origins and traditions of the Jewish community, as well as different moments of WWI and WWII. If you are around Cote Des Neiges, it is definitely a must visit. Free admission for adults and students on Sundays, closed on Mondays. Plus, you can sit down and enjoy a coffee at the end of your tour ☕

The Holocaust museum in Montreal is a place where you can find a lot of accurate information and testimonials about the Holocaust. During my visit, I had the opportunity to virtually speak with a survivor in France. You can also find videos, pictures, and items from that time there. It was a good experience, and the service is really nice. Highly recommended.

Note: The Museum is closed on Saturday, because is Sabatt! It was a great learning experience. The video interviews gave it a human perspective. I learned that the Warsaw Ghetto was one of many ghettos all over Europe. So many people died from hunger and sickness. I gain a new understanding about the suffering of those brave people. Also, about how evil was the Third Reich.

I loved how they formed the museum. Starting from first world war and continuing to second world war and even now. You will see not much horrible scenes. But if you are sensitive, better not to go. so, if you can, go there and learn about the history of jewish people.

Very comprehensive collection, well organized. Thought it would be a 1.5-2 hour visit, but it ended up being three

It was interesting but it will be more comprehensive once they get the new building set up in two years time for bigger or larger exhibits. The museum in St.Petersburg Florida is much bigger and has two more floors of exhibits and takes more viewing time to see.However, if the theme is the Holocaust and you live in Montreal or other parts of Canada or on vacation give this a viewing and show your support and appreciation and encourage the study of this history which also includes the history of Jewish life in Canada especially in Montreal area and their start there.

We try to visit Holocaust museums in every city we travel to. NY and Washington DC are far and away the best. Montreal has an enormous Jewish community with many Holocaust survivors. This museum, although small, gave a really personal view of the life of Jews during that horrific decade. The iPad tour was incredibly concise and packed with information. A 'must see.'

Very interesting place to visit. The exhibition was organized in a way that it covers what was happening right before the war and all the way to its aftermath. I've visited holocaust museums before and this one also included how Canada reacted which is appropriate.

We have been to many museums that deal with the Holocaust, including the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington DC, and the Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles. Although Montreal's museum is not of the same grandiose scale as most of the others that we have seen, they did nothing short of an excellent job in packing in a lot of great information as well as personal stories. Their self-guided IPAD tour was very good, as were the exhibits and the videos within the museum itself. We only allocated two hours at the museum due to other reviews, but personally I'd recommend leaving 3+ hours if you want to watch all the videos and really view and read the accompanying info from all the exhibits. We really enjoyed the museum, and were galad we made the jaunt from our hotel (which for us was a long metro ride from the old town). This is a MUST if you are in the area, no matter what your religious beliefs are or where your ancestors are from. Self guided tour meaning you go at your own pace viewing a mixture of written exhibits,artifacts and short but gut wrenching first hand testimony from survivors, all now well into their 70's and 80's. Soon there will be none left to tell their story which makes these Memorial Centers so incredibly important so that their memory is never forgotten. Solemn, tragic, factually accurate accounts of how inhumain man can be and how the world sat back and allowed 12 million men, women and children to be tortured and slaughtered, 6 million of them Jews. Please allow 2 full hours minimum. Cool air conditioned modern space, a nice respite in the heat of the summer's day.

This museum is extremely well presented. Many museums are hard to navigate or overwhelming, but not here. It is very clear the order to read everything in; there's a general blurb for each "section" and then it's broken down into pictures and more specific information for each event. Of course, it is very poignant and I learned a lot. I was also surprised at how low the cost is. This museum is absolutely worth a visit.

Excellent information and love having three tour options through self guided iPad information. The only unfortunate thing is that an hr and half was just not enough time, I would dedicate 2-3 hrs if you want to read everything. They did offer us tickets for the next day but we were leaving early in the morning.

Fantastic museum! They have a lot of informative videos with survivors' talking about what they went through during the Holocaust. Definitely give yourself 2 hours to visit the museum!
