It's free museum but it's world class museum with many old masters paintings. I especially like the methods of how they made paints in the past.
Too bad my French is not very good cos very few descriptions are in English and it's mostly just who's the painter and title.

Stunning free museum of religious art, mainly paintings, from 600-700 years ago. The quality of the pieces is amazing. Very beautiful.

The other museums in Avignon are better so if you have to choose go for another one. Unless you are passionate about medieval painting

Opened in 1976, this FREE (yes apparently it’s free) wonderful museum that is located in the main square (at the side of the Palais des Papes) has fantastic collection of Renaissance paintings of Avignon. It’s a very easy and relaxing place so do take your time and just enjoy.
