Musée du Petit Palais

They have some wonderful art, but they also had the lights off in some of their galleries, had other galleries closed off, and herded is out a half hour before they even close. Make sure you go early, and pay attention to their seasonally changing hours.

This is a museum of Catholic art near to the Palais de Papes. It is well set up. I'm giving it three stars because there is only French descriptions. There is no entry fee. I highly recommend it if you're interested in Italian catholic saints and mystery history.

It's free museum but it's world class museum with many old masters paintings. I especially like the methods of how they made paints in the past. Too bad my French is not very good cos very few descriptions are in English and it's mostly just who's the painter and title.

Opened in 1976, this FREE (yes apparently it’s free) wonderful museum that is located in the main square (at the side of the Palais des Papes) has fantastic collection of Renaissance paintings of Avignon. It’s a very easy and relaxing place so do take your time and just enjoy.

Stunning free museum of religious art, mainly paintings, from 600-700 years ago. The quality of the pieces is amazing. Very beautiful.

Very good art gallery of the Papal Palace. Wonderful collection and some beautiful works by Botticelli.

The other museums in Avignon are better so if you have to choose go for another one. Unless you are passionate about medieval painting

Amazing collection of early renaissance art. Includes 7 Botticelli. free entrance with clean bathrooms. Can't ask for much more. However, there are not many English translations and the staff don't speak much English either.
