We took the train ride which was nice but nothing spectacular and geared toward adults. Full transparency it probably would’ve been better if I understood more French. Nevertheless, I gathered that it was mostly about the flora and fauna of Martinique versus about the Saint James Distillery. That might have been nice, but we were spoiled by the private tour we had at Rhum JM.
The overall Museum of Distillation was cool, offering a view of their bank vault with old vintage stock pile of rum from the 1800s. I enjoyed learning more about the Saint James marketing. At the maison, the upstairs Saint James museum was interesting but only took a few minutes to peruse. Finally, the tasting room was the least experiential of the distilleries we toured: the staff was absolutely friendly but didn’t get into the detail of the notes of the rum and how it’s processed (all things to which I’m interested). Nevertheless, the prices of the rum sold were some of the best compared to the grocery store.
