MAAC
anthropology, music and modern art museum is free admission. It has a lot of potential, but is in a state of perpetual renovation. There are no plaquards in English, but you can get the idea anyways. The preColombian pottery is excellent. The building has a lot of roof leaks. Some areas are closed because the ceiling is falling. We enjoyed 45min to an hour here despite the museum's shortcomings, due to the amazing preColombian exhibits.

Large museum with two distinct sections, one on the historical anthropology of Ecuadoran peoples, and the other devoted to contemporary Ecuadoran art. The former collection is very impressive; it is exciting that so many examples of ancient cultures' artistic production survive and are available for people to see in well-organized and explained categories. The contemporary art section is small, just a few galleries that seem to be devoted to temporary exhibitions. Still one or two of the rooms were interesting when I visited.

Too poorly exhibitions.. I expected more. It's unfortunate because the building is huge, and looks very fancy from the outside. Still. Maybe it's the Day I arrived (Tuesday) or the month (November), I don't know. 2 exhibitions where closed when i arrived, so I could see only 3.
Anyway, not sure I will come back again.

The museum is neat, clean, and beautiful. The exponats consist mainly of paintings and drownings. I found it very interesting and worth to visit.

Wonderful exhibit of ancient Ecuadorian culture and artifacts. Outstanding pottery exhibits of intact pieces. Has a large exhibit of art. The exhibits and videos are in Spanish so bring a good translator with you. The staff were kind and helpful.

The entrance is free. Maybe you should be charging at least 1$, since the museum is deteriorating inside…the ceiling must be rotten and water dripping on the floor. Also there’s not much to see, apart from the indigenous art, it’s really incredible.

Don't miss this museum during your visit to Guayaquil. Rotating exhibitions of contemporary art and an excellent permanent installation of centuries of ceramics. Ask the receptionist if there are any special events. Many of the signs are in English and Spanish. Free entry. No stairs to access the museum or gallery.
