National Archaeological Museum of Umbria

Great collection covering some prehistoric, but mainly ethruscan and Roman periods. They also host an awesome collection of amulets. The only problem that the majority of the descriptions and information materials are only in Italian 😕 Was almost empty during our visit on a workday. Really cheap relatively to the size of the collection. Only 5 euro per person. Very recommended if you enjoy history and museum!

Your chance to become familiar with the history of the Etruscans, who pre-date the Romans. Not to be missed. An extraordinary collection of local artifacts. All kept in a fabulous abbey setting. Increased my appreciation for Bella Perugia. Get Google Translate, an app for your phone to translate all descriptions. Bravo!

Very interesting archeological museum with some great pieces from Etruscan times. Remarkable are the San Mariano bronzes, probably constituting burial of a very important Etruscan person, offering an unprecedented glimpse into Etruscan art. The collection is very largeso take care to have some time to explore it (and don't arrive there too tired as there's plenty to see!). Possibly it would be nice if the curators could arrange in some alternative rooms some highlights of the collection and point out where similar items are within the museum, as navigation through it is not straightforward at the moment and visitors might be overwhelmed by the quantity of artifacts.

Very interesting place. Stumbled upon it, trying to find a church. Later, I found out from my host mother that it is also a school. Only explored outside, not in.

Nice museum, most of their collection is ossuaries. English speakers may not enjoy it as much. They did have translation pamphlets but all the English ones were missing.

Museum is quite big. There are 2 levels to sight-seeing. Many interesting exhibits.

Nice museum housed in the former convent of San Domenico, You won't have much to read if you don't speak Italian. I would recommend it to all Perugia lovels.

Almost all descriptions are in Italian so you may struggle to understand the meaning and context to the exhibits if you don’t read Italian. The museum is largely focused on Roman and Etruscan sarcophagi and related finds. While that’s interesting the museum does not give a great sense of life in the area during the Etruscan/ Roman period due to this narrow focus.
