Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Reggio Calabria

Excellent museum! We were 2 of 20 people allowed in the room at a time to see the Riace bronzes! What a luxury compared to incredibly packed museums in Rome! It is a beautiful, clean building with clear directions to take you through all the artifacts. The Riace Bronzes are incredible and it’s hard to comprehend how perfect & how old they are. Worth a visit while in the lovely city of Reggio Calabria

It's the second time that I visited this beautiful museum, but I hope not the last! Apart from being close to the two incredible beautifully made statues, the museum also offers a (too) short, but interesting movie about the findings, preservation and earthquake safe foundation of this immense treasure. The archeological exposition in general is also interesting and nicely exposed, but I miss that more artifacts are put into a context instead of just being named. I can recommend Moesgaard Museum outside Aarhus in Denmark, as an exquisite example of how to make the past come alive. The staff is kind, and to my big surprise the young man selling the ticket, not only spoke fluently French but also Norwegian, which a Dane can easily understand. It puzzled me so much, that unfortunately I forgot to ask him how come he did so? It was an enlightened moment of the day!

Excellent museum very close to the port of Reggio Calabria, also a very good ticket price for such a well curated array of artifacts. The highlight is of course the Riace bronzes which are truly spectacular. The museum was a bit hot inside but I did visit during the winter. Overall lovely experience that I would highly recommend

Very impressive and well organized museum. I loved the maps to help in understanding the archeological finds and the movement of people. Displays are in Italian and English. The artifacts and mosaics are stunning

The Bronzi di Riace are obviously a highlight! But, furthermore, the museum displays very impressive items ranging from the Neolithic to the Roman period. These other areas of the museum are far less crowded than the Bronzi room and offer a relaxed and enjoyable visit!

A fascinating museum where you could easily spend a few hours. Tells the story of Calabria through it's geographical and archaeological history. So informative. The highlight of course is the Riace Bronzes. Stunning!!

A very well-kept museum with beautiful pieces and interesting exhibitions that allow you to learn about Calabria's history. Needless to say, the Bronzi di Riace are a must-see. Our guide was wonderful and explained everything clearly and in detail (my tour was in Italian). You can't miss this place if you're in Reggio!

Our group went over to Reggio Calabria to see Bronze statues in the National museum. It was well worth the trip.
