I had found this place after searching for museums in Santo Domingo and was intrigued by the location. We came on a Saturday to check it out and feel in love with this small but charming museum. They had an exhibit for Antonio Prats-Ventós and it was really wonderful! The museum is on the upper floor of the Honda dealership, and you can park outside in the lot then ask a sales personnel for the museum and they'll take you to the elevator that allows you to go upstairs. The docents and curators were so friendly and welcoming and though the gallery isn't huge the pieces were really beautiful. Paintings, sculpture, drawings, carvings, it was a range of media and very beautiful. I came to appreciate how ubiquitous Prats-Ventós' work is on the Dominican Republic. This was a fun trip and all four of us enjoyed it. No admission fee to enter, open until noon on Saturday.

Pros : 1. It's free 2. The permanent exhibition is quite vast, interesting and with various amazing Dominican Artists 3. It was empty so I had the venue for myself. Enough time to look around and enjoy the art collection. 4. The receptionist lady was very nice. 5. It. Is. Free. Cons : 1. It is hard to find. Inside the Honda building, last floor. Better ask them for help directly. Limited parking. 2. The sculpture room is very small and very very few artists. 3. You have to leave your bag on a couch at the entrance. I was alone so I didn't mind but still... Lockers would be more "safe". If you are an art lover, I really recommend this Museum. It is one of my highlight in Santo Domingo

Situated on the fifth floor of Honda building, the collection is iconic and the receptionist is super nice! Definitely worth the visit!

This is inside of the HONDA dealership, we got lost and the locals did not know where it was. After looking for it for 40 mins, they are closed for renovations until November 20th, 2023. I have a 3 (neutral) because we didn’t get to see it 🤷🏽‍♀️

Slightly conflicted with this. On one respect it's a phenomenal free art gallery illustrating great Dominican art from the past and actively engaged in showcasing the present. Set in the crazy and quirky setting of a Honda car dealership! But on the other it's a clear indication of the power the colonisers still hold over the country. Not just financially, but within art as well. But better than just putting it in his mansion in Spain to show off to his cronies. (Though I'm guessing he probably has a Mansion in Spain full of art as well!!!) I fully encourage everyone interested in art to visit.

A great place to visit! The museum has an interesting collection of Dominican art from the 19th and 20th centuries. They have an English leaflet on the permanent exhibition but for the changing exhibitions it is good to know some Spanish. Also, the names of the artworks in the permanent exhibition were only in Spanish. Entrance was free (at least on the Monday we visited). It’s a bit hard to find, since it is in the top floor of a Honda shop and there is no logo of the museum outside. Just go inside the Honda shop and ask for assistance or walk to the elevator.

Santo Domingo has not so much art galeries and museums and the one and only Museum of Modern (Dominican) Art is still under construction. So this small museum is the only alternate adress, but you need find it! The location is just on the heavy busy innercity highway and very good to arrive, but it's a little bit tricky to find. There is no sign outside, no advertising ... nothing. But if you see the biggest Carshowroom of Honda, than you are right. There is it, inside of the showrooms is a hide elevator, you need ask for it and follow the staff comments. Next to the elevator door you'll find the logo of the museum for the first time, see the pics below. The elevator is a small box from Germany and you need push the yellow emergency call button ... than the elevator starts rumbling and bring you to the 5th floor. When you go out from the stoped lift, you will arrived at a very serious and quiet place, with wooden floor and panels. the exhibition room is just only one large and shows very nice paintings and sculptures from last century and some new. Some examples are very good, some are more copies of international standards. By the end you will enjoy the visit! After the art you can enjoy the very nice Honda cars and motorcycles too, which is much more state of the modern art.
