Small museum and collection, but its THE Machu Picchu collection returned to Peru from Yale in 2011 and some additional materials. Very low volume of visitors so no waiting to see anything. I would highly recommend visiting to give some context to your visit to Machu Picchu. The building is an interesting historical building as well with original features, built over a previous Inca building. Negatives: entrance is cash only, no running water in the bathroom. Bring your own tp too.

A lovely museum that was quiet and in a nice location just outside of the main square. Went here a few days before Machu Picchu to better understand the background etc. it gave a good insight and was only 20 soles. Kept me busy for about an hour, each room had a different aspect of the Incan time. Good place to visit.

Small museum but honestly really worth checking out, especially if you have been to or are going to Machu Picchu as it provides a lot of history and context to the site. It was really quiet whilst I was there too which was nice, meaning you can wander around at your own pace and take it all in

This is the Machu Pichu museum. It is small but has amazing pictures, artifacts, and real mummies. I learned a lot. There is a special surprise at the end on the top floor. Juan Umres, he is a great guy who has studied Inka music. He makes his own flutes. They are amazing. Such beautiful sound. Make sure that you take one or two home. No picture taking allowed in the museum part.

Great museum! I spent between 75-90 minutes instead. It's the perfect intro before going to Machu Picchu. Highly recommend during your trip to Cusco.

We visited the museum after spending two days at Machu Picchu. It's a wonderful collection, very well presented, and a cool building to walk through. It's a must-do if you spend time in Cusco. Plan on 2 to 3 hours to walk through the galleries.

After visiting Mach Picchu, visiting yhis museum seemed a must. It was great to see the artifacts from the expedition. Cash (soles) is required.

I didn’t really enjoy this museum. It’s very dated, mostly empty with not much to even show to tell, not very interactive or engaging, and some of the rooms / exhibits were completely closed. I wouldn’t recommend going even if it were free, definitely not seeing as one has to pay.
