Museo Cuevas del Sacromonte. Centro de Interpretación del Valle del Darro.

I really liked this museum that helps give a glance of how people lived in the cave houses. There are houses or rooms that served to keep some animals indoor and help heat the small house where a family lived. There are also other rooms for Flamenco dancing and entertainment, blacksmith, basket weaving, loom for cloth making among other functions. Gypsies "Gitanos" lived here. There has been a large Gypsy community that has lived in this area for centuries. There is a small bar where you can but refreshments, water and beer here. There are restrooms for men and women. If you get a chance it's worth going to see this. There are incredible views of the Alhambra from across the valley. It is only €5 per person to enter. The #34 Small red city bus vans will take you all the way up to base of the hill where you will then have to walk up a pathway to get to the museum. I really did enjoy it. The museum is open till 8pm. Not sure if the hours change during the year. There are nice little neighborhoods close by with restaurants etc. Really nice area with nice views.

What a gem! Don’t miss this beautifully curated unassuming museum where you could easily spend two to three hours delving not only into the history of the Sacromonte cave dwellers, but also the geology, flora and fauna and worldwide cave settlements. We were really pleasantly surprised by this place and the views are also delightful. A haven of peace just a short bus ride (34) up the hill. Highly recommended!

An absolute gem. A must visit that opened my eyes not only to the plight of the gypsies but the origins of Flamenco music. If you plan on catching a show then do this first. Yeah it's a walk but well worth it.

The Museo Cuevas del Sacromonte in Granada was a wonderful visit! The museum offers a fascinating look into the traditional cave homes, even showcasing authentic tools, furniture, and displays that bring the history to life. You can walk around freely and spend as much time as you want in the caves. I would say you only need 30-45 minutes for the visit. If you’re in Granada, this museum is totally worth the stop!

This place has been on our list of places to visit for a while and I couldn’t recommend it highly enough. Educational and fun for the whole family - adults and kids alike. For only Eur 5 you entre a unique open air setting with a simple cafe, lovely service, beautiful views and clean bathrooms to see part of Spain’s history which is not widely known across the country. We learned heaps and really enjoyed the visit. The hike up is worth the hype.

Kristina and Luna gave us a wonderful tour, giving us the chance to observe and reflect on the history of gitanos in Spain. I loved the explanation of how flamenco came to be what we know today, as well as the way the girls explained things to a diverse group of people of adult students. I think we all have a decent understanding of gitanos now, and hopefully we will carry this when we go back home

This museum is just amazing. So much to learn about the people who lived here, botanics, animals, geology, and general history. I have thoroughly enjoyed this gem of a museum. At the top of the path, there are also benches where you can sit, relax, and soak in the view. I think this museum could also be very interesting to children. One of the best, if not the best experiences I had in Granada. Highly recommended!

What a fantastic place full of history and memories of old fot the former inhabitants of the caves , Cueva . Not many tourists as up the hill from Granada centro , but well worth it and fantastic views to Alhambra . Plus many Flamenco Cueva here , from where it originated from in Granada , superb 👌

Always on reconstructed sites--in this case, the medieval Santas Cuevas (Holy Caves)--one worries about authenticity. How did the moroscos, gypsies (Roma/Gitanos), and early Christians--hiding from enemies over the centuries--actually live? The emphasis here is on Sacromonte's more recent 19th century heritage rather than medieval. An especially nice feature is the emphasis on the area's ecology--insects, plants, topography--and the cave dwellers' lives building on the assets nature had provided. Charming, helpful personnel run the museum.

This is only 5 Euros but still imo not worth the price of admission. Admittedly we were in a rush because we needed to make our reservation at Alhambra. But the caves did not seem authentic at all. I seriously doubt this is how the gypsies were living. The rooms for the flamenco and stables in particular seemed to be a bit of a joke. This just seemed like the gypsy homes from a Disney movie.
