3 Best Day Trips from Buenos Aires | Condé Nast Traveler

"Housed in one of Tigre's most stunning Belle Epoque palaces, the Museo de Arte Tigre is straight out of another era. Focusing on Argentine art from the 19th and 20th centuries by masters such as Antonio Berni, Raúl Soldi, and Eduardo Sivori, this grand dame is also known for its modern sculpture and contemporary graphics." - Sorrel Moseley-Williams

It is one of Argentina's most important museums. Works in its collection covers history of arts in Argentina. Has guided tours and workshops. It is located in a historic building that has amazing architecture and located on the river bank with scenic views. Worth a visit. Popular with tourists. Wear comfy shoes, take water, wear hat, sunscreen. Toilets available. Easy terrain, lot of easy walking. Great place for photography.

Very very beautiful palace with an interesting story. Visited Tigre during the winter and the building is still beautiful. Will definitely come back in the summer to enjoy the view and the river in it's sundrenched summer glory!

Great palace to walk around for a little bit, the art gallery is nice. Best part was seeing the history and old photos of the palace itself.

Museo de Arte de Tigre impresses with excess. To experience the type of extravagance that only too much money could buy back at the beginning of the 1900s. Excess on this scale happens so rarely that it'd be a shame to miss the spectacle. The museum exhibitions are amazing as well.

Beautiful, awesome. When I visited, the museum was closed, but I got great pictures at Museo de Bellas Artes at Tigres, Argentina. It looks like a European Castle, built by a French architect. It's a place with culture and history. I called it the Argentinian Howarts because this place has been used for films.

Yelp
We were happily surprised by this little museum. The old casino building was once part of a complex with a neighboring hotel (long since demolished) and was built in a grandiose style with lovely details that have mostly been preserved or recreated by the museum. The entrance was free on the day we went and even on paid days is pretty reasonable at 30 pesos. The beautiful staircase and ballroom with its giant crystal chandelier take you back to another time. The solid but small collection of art in the downstairs level contains some large paintings that allow one to contemplate Argentine history especially in relation to water which feels quite relevant given the museum's location on the river bank. There is a small cafe in the museum, but it seems a shame to eat there, as it has no view of the river, and there are so many wonderful little spots in Tigre with a view or outdoor patio. The museum is the perfect size for an afternoon escape back in time on a rainy day. You can run through the exhibits in under an hour, but around two hours seems to be enough time to see everything including the grounds.

Yelp
if you're in Tigre and have a little time to kill, the Museo de Arte is a nice little place to check out - while not a destination, you'll likely pass it if walking down Paseo Victoria anyway. the art collection is small and forgettable, but the architecture of the building itself (The Tigre Club) is far more impressive, a mix of French and Italian styles. formerly a casino and social club, the long terrace overlooking the water is a great place to relax, catch a cool breeze, and get some pretty cool views. the gardens are well-kept and worth looking at as well. admission is dirt cheap - the most recent info I could find says it's 20 pesos.
